This ending was happy in that they were reunited, but would it of hurt to tack on an extra five minutes to witness their reunion and words of love? It would have made things less confusing and made us all very happy. Other secondary characters got that complete ending, why not the main couple? Who makes these stupid decisions?
As someone that used to watch jdrama n ancient kdrama with these kind of ending, i'm pretty happy with it😅 it actually have its own uniqueness, leaving some lingering feeling.. And it does make me watch the part 1😅 i only watched part 2 before... N it probably cost more to do another set/cg/tail for 5 min scene😅
Wow. This drama is good tbh, the flaws are less. The story, plot and flow are amazing and reasonable, even the villain has valid reason to be villain. The action scene, costumes and special effects including the places are amazing! Now a days, China's costume Fantasy-dramas are getting better and better. Gonna look forward for more in the future. Also, I hope you could post continuesly without omitting some scene. Though I watched all, there are parts in some episodes that are not complete and kinda making me wonder what happened.

That was one of the best drama's I've seen this year! That was such an amazing ending I was so happy to see them both finally free! I wish there were more Drama's about Merfolk! it's so mysterious and magical! I wish we could have seen the East sea kingdom. The underwater realm would have been an awesome third season. so i just finished this drama like a week ago and just like everyone else I was confused and kind of unsatisfied w the ending. anyways, I took matters into my own hands and went to find an explanation on the Google 😌 so I am here to offer the explanation you all want. now, idek why they cut these scenes from the actual movie but what happened is that 300 years later, when we see those last scenes w chang yi soliloquizing about waiting for yunhe, he's actually at the east sea, cos he went back there to wait for her and alll of that. anyways, he's apparently fishing as he's having these thoughts, and then alll of a sudden, unlike before when he was never able to make any catch, smth starts tugging at his rod, he pulls it up and a girl comes up from the water, he catches her in his arms and its yunhe, they hug, smile and they're reunited. that's the scene before the final scene we see of them at the cliff comes up. to explain her having a mermaid tale, at the cliff scene he asks her why she now has a tale and she says that the pearl he gave her kept her safe for 300years, cultivating in her body and changing her fox tail into a fish one, hence the mermaid tail. she then asks him if since he got his full powers and tail back he had transformed once and he says no, he'd been waiting for her so she would be the first one to see it. that's when she now asks him if they should race, they do and that's where the movie ends. enjoy 🤗

Excelente Dorama!! Éste me encantó después de "The Long Ballad". Pero creo que hizo falta ver como se reencontraban los protagonistas, todo estuvo muy bien tanto su actuación, como los efectos de cada escena, que lástima habría sido genial los efectos de cuando ella se liberaba y se reencontraban de nuevo, mala decisión del director al omitir esa importante escena, habría sido emocionante.

Le faltaron cinco episodios, le tuvieron que cortar esos por las leyes chinas. Jamás contaron que literalmente, Chengyi la pescó con una red a la orilla del mar mientras la seguía esperando. No explicaron que la perla que le dió fue quien le hizo un nuevo cuerpo. Así que no fue sueño su reunión ❤️ (y a diferencia de la novela original, LiShu quedó vivo y yo fui feliz por eso. Al pobre lo mataron a media novela y ya no regresó)

You’re right. I heard The movie originally have total of 52 episodes ( part 1 -30eps and part 2 -21eps). But when airing , the movie got cut down to 42eps total ( part 1 -22eps and part 2 -20eps). I heard there is a underwater kiss scene too but it got cut as well as their reunion part where he rescues her under water. Some scenes got cut too. Why it censorship? It’s not too sexually or violent scenes so I don’t understand why it got cut. It would make less confuse if the director not cut those scenes. I’m not chinese so I can’t find out much. The part where ‘A Ky” where she reincarnated become red fox disguised as boy meet male merman I think she her hands did touch his face but director cut it that is why we only she part where she retrieved her hand back. This my most favorite fantasy movie. I wish they wouldn’t cut so much.

una explicacion ... de repente aparecen sentados en el barranco y luego saltan al mar , convirtiendose en peces... bien... pero falto algo. Igual ame esta historia 😍😍
Le faltaron cinco episodios, le tuvieron que cortar esos por las leyes chinas. Jamás contaron que literalmente, Chengyi la pescó con una red a la orilla del mar mientras la seguía esperando. No explicaron que la perla que le dió fue quien le hizo un nuevo cuerpo. Así que no fue sueño su reunión ❤️ (y a diferencia de la novela original, LiShu quedó vivo y yo fui feliz por eso. Al pobre lo mataron a media novela y ya no regresó)

17 chapter of the series was cut because china censorship didn't veto it so at times it seems strange missing pieces and the ending was confusing too but anyway it was still worth seeing
You’re right. I heard The movie originally have total of 52 episodes ( part 1 -30eps and part 2 -21eps).
But when airing , the movie got cut down to 42eps total ( part 1 -22eps and part 2 -20eps).
I heard there is a underwater kiss scene too but it got cut as well as their reunion part where he rescues her under water. Some scenes got cut too.
Why it censorship? It’s not too sexually or violent scenes so I don’t understand why it got cut. It would make less confuse if the director not cut those scenes. I’m not chinese so I can’t find out much.
The part where ‘A Ky” where she reincarnated become red fox disguised as boy meet male merman I think she her hands did touch his face but director cut it that is why we only she part where she retrieved her hand back.
This my most favorite fantasy movie. I wish they wouldn’t cut so much.
