    In this video we want to show how long an AK can last in full auto before burning out. The gun being used is a cheap WASR-10 legally converted by our friends over at Quiet Riot Firearms. The gun was lubed with FIREClean prior to being fired to showcase the ease of cleaning after a barrage of full auto fire. This test did not turn out exactly as everyone had expected, but you'll need to watch the entire video for the whole story. Be sure to stay tuned for a follow up video in the near future.

      After the last panic eneded the prices hit a low of about $400 for a Wasr or N-pap.

    I like the fact that it is explained repeatedly that this is not what the gun is designed for, even in combat, this is a torture test. Videos games were you spray and pray with unlimited ammo is not the same as combat were you need better target and ammo control. It is one of the reasons for the three shot burst used now on most automatic assault rifles.

      Nowadays, most survival video games have a "quallity" meter.If the gun's used repeatedly without maintenace, it will break. Of course, this is cumbersome and often removed for more fluid and dynamic gameplay in most online multiplayer shooters.

    In the first minute he fired 150 rounds. Now for a belt-fed machine gun like the M249 it says 200rpm training mandates a barrel change every 2 minutes and that's a heavily built weapon.
    The lesson from these videos should be clear: there's more to a machine gun than fully-automatic fire. Sticking an auto-sear on what is still a rifle, lightly built as a rifle, then you can't get away with using it like a machine gun. It's going to overheat.

      That's because the Vepr has a heavy RPK barrel.
      Battlefield Las Vegas has converted many WASR's to select fire, and they last approximately 100,000rds before the top receiver rails wear out. The barrel will last beyond 100k. The armorers there have used Saiga, Norinco, Arsenal, and state that the WASR holds up the best to full auto fire. This single video of a single rifle proves nothing. Heat however will kill any firearm. Even the MG42 requires barrel changes or else it will fail.

    • @wysoft
      @wysoft 9 лет назад +10

      I have a hard time believing that the barrel moved at all. The gap at the RSB is present in many AKs, and doesn't indicate that the barrel moved.
      It looks more like the barrel drooped to the point that it prevented the gas piston from entering the gas block, thereby preventing the carrier from moving forward enough to put the bolt in battery.
      If the barrel had truly moved out of the trunnion, it would have been pretty dumb to fire without checking headspace. No mention of any of this in the video.

    Lets see you do the same thing with an Arsenal AK. I like how you are showing that a cheap gun can run too, but doing a comparison of a $1200 AR vs a $469 AK is a little insulting to the AK. Lets at least compare apples to apples. Either redo the AK vid with a $1200 AK or redo the AR video with a $500 PSA pencil barrel AR.

The whole point of the AK is (to AK fanboys) that it costs 1/2 the price and it's twice as reliable. I call bullshit.Final score AR(with a cheap barrel) 830AK 265

    • @mikemelina9607
      @mikemelina9607 9 лет назад +2

      Travis Krause Govt. profile with a 1-9 twist, yes. 1-7 less so. The faster the twist, the more friction. More friction = more heat. Any quality barrel with a 1-8 or slower twist rate would outlast that $150 Faxon barrel that lasted 830 rounds. Even still, 830 rounds is almost 600 more rounds than the AK. There isn't an AK47 on the planet that could go that extra 600, it's just physics. The larger bore makes for a thinner barrel cross section and without the extra meat to dissipate the heat generated the barrel will fail. Maybe the 5.45x39 of the AK74 would do better, but with all the barrel options available to AR15 builders, the AR would always be able to outlast the AK.

    I'm not sure what the big reaction is all about. All this really proves is that a WASR-10 is not capable of being an MG-42, and probably not capable of being an RPK. An infantry rifle is not designed to have the capability to replace a static machine gun. While there may or may not be better AK designs for this kind of use, I don't see this as being any sort of realistic deficit to the WASR-10. Real combat never entails putting this many rounds through an infantry rifle at this speed. Sure, it works in Call of Duty, but that's rather irrelevant.

      Yeah, I guess some people see this as part of the ongoing AR vs. AK war. Either way, both failed, despite being very capable of performing both "emergency" infantry rifle functions, such as realistic temporary suppressive fire, and "ordinary" infantry rifle functions, such as continuous accurate fire. Maybe, in order to get some perspective on what primarily-full-auto long guns are capable of withstanding, a similar "burn" test should be done on a real RPK. That's the "realest" full auto AK you can get, right? :)

      I'd love to get a WASR for 250, great deal on your end. As he says in the video the WASRs are meant for semi-auto fire only, if you're using them in the way most do, your gun can easily go over 10k rounds before you start seeing any real damage (I've even heard of some going up near the 15-20k mark before needing new barrels etc).
      Definitely the best budget or entry-level AK on the market.

    The Yugoslavian M70 has the thickest barrel of any standard AK variant. Hopefully they use that one for the upcoming video. I firmly believe Yugo's are the highest quality standard AK variant on the market, with a good price to boot.
    It would also be interesting to see if a Krinkov holds up to full auto better, my theory is less barrel, less droop. Possibly less heat too, with the shorter barrel not burning all the gases from the cartridge.

      I'm sure someone has already mentioned this. But when your doing abusive testing like this the barrel will get soooooo hot the ammo will "cook" off automatically. That's why you see a speed up sometimes. Also since it's firing the weapon without you pulling the trigger you CANNOT stop it unless you run out of ammo. That's very scary and also why you don't screw around like this unless you REALY know what your doing.

      It was in Transnistria, same scenario as now in Ucraine. Our gov after the soviet break decided that we didn't needed anymore army so they disbanded all military formations and all the tanks and new IFVs and APCs just gave away to Russia, wat was left were some BMD-1 and BTR-60,70, and I think 80. A year later an organized separatist conflict by russian ethnics arose. Ofcourse it was naturally to send police to calm down the protestants, but something happened, a few got injured, I think somebody got killed, and that started stories about "police fascists", "anti russian xenophobes" and etc. So the armed conflict begun. As I described before, police was seriously under-armed against separatists and disguised russian miltiary as separatists. And so friendly state Romania(same roots, same language, we are part of the same nation) initiated material help, which included some bed kits for refugees, and other stuff to help civilians who were in the conflict zone, also it contained romanian AK's. Many were complaining about inferior quality against soviet line. 1-2 mags, and barrel mush to bend how you wanted. The quality of those weapons which are still in service is...legendary. I learned about how bad they were in middle school. It's a known fact about ro ak's barrels. Some background to the RO AKs in practice.

      that's not how humidity works.

    • @richlando
      @richlando 8 лет назад +8

      Relative humidity is a measure of the amount water vapor\saturation point of air at a given temperature. This varies with temperature for ex. air at 77f degrees will hold 20gms of water which would be 100% RH. At 68 degrees 15 gms and still 100% RH.

    It is not real russian AK 47, it is romanian clone. Real AK has better quality, real AK produced only on Izmash in Russia and has claim "arrow in triangle." Russia officially not licensed AK manufacturing in EU or USA, so this is fake AK.

    funny thing is he is wearing a Yugoslavian helmet that has insignia from the guys they bombed in 1999. honestly i would ask him to take the insignia off the helmet, have some respect for the guys who died protecting that country from NATO scum (mostly planes from the US) that bombed a hospital where 81 baby was killed, not to mention bridge that was bombed while a train full of civilians was on it, and so on... just have a little respect... all that i ask...

    Century Arms always made unreliable garbage. I should know I owned 4 of them each one failed. Do not buy anything Century if you want a quality AK buy Chinese, Russian Molot, Russian Saiga stay away from US junk. Although there is one US manufacturer of fine built AKs that is James River in MD. You get what you pay for. Nice job Iraqi Vet.Thanks and God bless.

    that's the problem with kalashnikovs, they tend to overheat easily because the walls of the barrel are thinner, and they are prone to jamming pretty frequently, plus accuracy is way less than an M16

    Steel cased ammo does take out less heat energy from the gun compared to brass so it makes sense why it would melt faster than a ar15
