    good stuff. please keep sharing, making videos. preserving spoken mayan language. i am learning mayan glyphs, this writing system is cute & interesting to look at. at the same time i also study the japanese language, and there seem to be some parallels regarding mayan and japanese language syntax.
    most important thing i see here, is the mayan knowledge, presented by the (living) mayans themself.
    thx for sharing, have fun, aum, s love nia (europe)

    Thank you for these videos. After beginning my journey in learning about my ancestors I found out just how much false information is out there. I just got back from a trip visiting Guatemala. I wanted to to where I can find a true depiction of the mayan Cholq'ij calender?

    • @MayaDayKeeper
      @MayaDayKeeper  3 года назад

      Thanks for the feedback Emil, I'm gladly you are enjoying the videos. Soon I will return posting videos.
      I've got some good books from anthropologists who lived for a long time in the k'iche communities, like Dennis and Barbara Tedlock. I'm happy to share with you if you want, you can DM me on Instagram (@ferronato111).
      I'm working with Apab'yan and the UMK (universidad Maya Katchiquel) and we just started the 2nd year. There Students and I are learning kiche, the epistemology of the calendar and philosophy.
      From my experience working with indigenous people and travelling to the communities, I can attest that the information that has been provided there is very altruistic with "indigenous value", far away from new age stuff.
      From my experience researching to learn about the calendar, unfortunately the mainstream information is all westernised from people who likely never been to the wild to understand nature, and just adapt things from folkloric stuff.
      That's why I think it's important to learn from people who at least know k'iche or any mayan language.
      To get into the realm of the true depiction of the Calendar, it's necessary to dive deep into the culture or even lineage of who's teaching you. Cause the use or interpretation, linguistic expressions, metaphor may change a bit according the place, lineage the aqj'ij is from.
      Soon I'm gonna be launching my website with the information of the use of the Calendar from Apab'yan lineage, from Nahuala. And in there I'm gonna open a community to start facilitating bringing these studies to the table with more people.

    Hi
    I wanna know. Why on the Haab Calender there are two diffrent kind of glyph/symbol for Pax(jaguar)
    Does there exist a original symbol for Pax from the Haab any where? Thank u

    • @MayaDayKeeper
      @MayaDayKeeper  3 года назад +1

      All glyphs have many variations in shape. As they are an expression of the spoken languages, sometimes these differences you see are expressing 2 or more words together, diferents ways to express the same thing in a sentence, dates compressed, etc... but they can change according to different mayan languages.
      As Glyphs are more the Yacatec stuff, I think the books of Michael D. Coe, can provide you better explanations of what you are looking for.

    Thank you for the video! For the last 3 weeks or so I’ve been seeing 13 and 17 EVERYWHERE. Following my intuition led me to the Mayan calendar and I’m just not sure how these numbers tie in but it feels like it’s related to me. Do these numbers mean anything in the Mayan culture? I know very little but researching. Thank you again ❤️🙏🏼🌎✌️

    • @MayaDayKeeper
      @MayaDayKeeper  4 года назад +1

      Hello! I'm happy you enjoyed the video. :)
      These numbers doesn't have any meangingfull association like this in the Maya culture.
      What is more important than numbers patterns or any symbol the brains starts looking for, is what you meet at the end, the information or post you decide to pay attention or listen that resonate with something within you.
      That's was what led to go deeper into the Maya knowledge. Unfortunately, there aren't many reliable sources on the internet, that's I decided to create a channel to offer information straight from their people.
      If you have any question or curiosity, feel free to ask:)

    Hello. What do you think about the grid form of the calendar? 13 rows of 20 signs. I understand that this form of the calendar is a modern creation but I wonder if you give it any legitimacy? I know someone who has applied some syncretism to the grid form of the calendar. They put the english alphabet into it forwards and then backwards and it spells the word "keys" 20 times. Do you think this is important or significant or is it just modern serendipitous syncretism? Many thanks

    • @MayaDayKeeper
      @MayaDayKeeper  Год назад +1

      Hello!! This is irrelevant actually. The way we arrange it doesn't matter if the order of the days is correct.
      I know the new age calendar of arguelles displays this way and mark days to paint a symbol of a DNA. But that's bot maya, and any painting can be done as an artistic expression. But doesn't have any meaning. Same with these keys. English language and western thinking has nothing to do with the maya calendar. It there's a meaning, it might only serve for the one who created this. Maybe a sign for him to become a keysmith or something lol.. jokes aside... there's nothing useful in this things.
      Learning the maya calendar is a way to observe life, nature and our interactions in a different way to bring acceptance about us and follow our path with more ease :)

      @eyevolutionsmithljw Год назад

      @@MayaDayKeeper thank you for taking the time to reply. I agree with you and it seems unlikely that the calendar, which was created before English was even spoken, would have the word "keys" encoded in it. I have told my friend this but he is obsessed with it. Haha. Thanks again

    • @MayaDayKeeper
      @MayaDayKeeper  Год назад +1

      Exactly!
      The knowledge of the calendar can lead to obsession. But the real key to understand it is to dive in to the culture to understand how they think and what they intended when refer to the nawals (days of the calendar). Feel free to ask any time. I'm happy to help:)

      Blood offerings is not like that. There many different ceremonies, each one with different purposes. And the days depend on certain nawals of the person as well
