In all seriousness, I hope Suriname continues to draw good players. It would be great if they can join the group of competitive teams in CONCACAF. It makes competitions like the Gold Cup and the Nations League (and World Cup Qualifying) better if there are more teams that can threaten to win any given game.

I love watching Davies fighting getting tripped on the third goal instead of doing the typical soccer flop. No complaints , no arms in the air, no giving up, just fighting through then picking himself up off the ground and dishing a beautiful assist to David. Impressive performance all around but really really nice to have two first class players ( Davies and David) up front.

Now we gotta finish the job vs Haiti over both legs plus we need revenge for that 3-2 loss in the 2019 cold cup. Canada's away form is usually pretty shit but this team is way better than anything we've had since the 80s or 90s (or maybe ever) so hopefully we'll be able to win the first game in Haiti which should set us up nicely for the second leg in Chicago.

3 weeks away from WC22, watching Canada’s road to qualifying and reliving the greatest year in my sporting history. My birthday is December 10th and I hope for nothing more than Canada still being active when I turn 32. Really though, this was the hardest test we faced and I’m glad we didn’t play in Suriname. Watch out for them qualifying in 2026!

Canada wins 4-0 against Suriname. That ought to shut those Surinamese fans up especially since Canada we won our group and we did it quite dominantly and decisively. Scoring the most goals out of any team in that group and whilst only giving up 1 goal in that group. Now we go on to face Haiti in the 2 leg playoff starting on Saturday when we have to travel to Haiti.
Either way I'm excited. We have a chance at redemption especially after what happened 2 years ago in the Gold Cup when Haiti beat us.
I tip my hat to Suriname. Gave us quite the scare. Suriname I can honestly say 2026 they could be a team that qualifies out of CONCACAF.

I must have missed it. Did Suriname's entire starting 11 of Eredivisie (best league in Europe by the way, MLS is garbage) players get injured in training? That's the only explanation I can think of for a 4-0 loss for a team that was supposed to win anywhere from 2-0 to 7-0. After all, Canada has terrible defense and only 3 players that matter at all.

What you don’t understand is that this is the best I’ve ever seen Canada. I’m a USA fan and I remember always seeing Canada as a Caribbean level team, being even weaker than Central Americans. When I watched the 2014 qualifiers, they would struggle with Cuba, even tying Puerto Rico & St. Lucia. Now they just keep winning every match. If they defeat Haiti both home AND away, this is going to be a dangerous team.

Is crazy the quality of Canada's national team. Davies, David and Larin are in a whole other level from the rest of CONCACAF, up there with Pulisic, Reyna, Lozano, Tecatito and Bailey. They deserve a spot at Qatar.

I won't gloat, this is a good victory for Canada but this win obviously would mean more for Suriname.
At the end of the day they have a lot to look forward to in the future, they have lots of quality players represting their country now that would not have beforehand, they were just too late piecing things together. Except to see a solid national team from them in a few years.

I'm from Suriname. Canada have played a good game and they won. They prepared very well. Also respect to their excellent coach John Herdman. I hope Canada can make it to the WC finals. They have an excellent team and also the players to improve that. This was a first good test for Suriname to reach the top of the Concacaf. Our next is the Gold cup were we go to improve better. Take nothing away from Suriname though... for a team that wasn't even on the CONCACAF radar a few years ago, they've quickly become a force to be reckoned with, and gave us plenty of trouble in the opening 20 minutes.
