He even played through the bloody third finger… he’s incredible
The Elgar is a beautiful choice. Fine playing without too many dramatic flourishes. Beautiful lush tone and perfect attention to dynamics. I think he deserved first place but that's my personal evaluation and taste.
I agree w/you 100% and was very disappointed he did not get the 1st prize. Great, sensitive performance. Bravo Bryan. :):):)
@@racheloliver17 To be honest though, the first place winner’s performance was probably one of the greatest cello performances I’ve ever seen
Given the final contestants, I agree he should have received first prize. The winner of the first prize is, to say the least, underwhelming, and is an uncompelling demonstration of the qualities of a first rate cellist. It is irritating seeing Lutoslawski concerto being taken seriously as a piece appropriate enough to evaluate a first rate celist when it is nothing more than some technical excerises strung together on clothesline. The so called concerto has so much a lack of color and phrasing, it is aesthetically repugnant.
@@buren5829That is just your opinion, all music is art in some way or another
Bryan, everyone who knows you is so proud of you right now. Relish in them and enjoy these prizes and heal those fingers quickly. Much much love, Claudia xxxxx
Congratulations from el paso texas!!!
The first movement sounds a bit too mellow to my taste. But overall, a very good performance.
