I also have the same problem even though I sized down to size 39 (supposed to be 40 because my mondo is 25.5 mm)The heel lift problem is cause by the 45 degree buckle and the flap thing under the buckle sitting too forward on the boot. When you ratcheting the buckle, it just pushing your foot down instead of pushing your ankle back so you can get a good heel lock. The solution is, there's a strap that holding the buckle down so it can stay on the center of the flap when you received the boot . When i open rollerblade website and click the picture of the crossfire boot, they get rid of the strap and position the 45 buckle upwards. I also noticed the pro slalom skater they use for RUclips marketing, also get rid of the strap and position the buckle upwards. I tried the same thing and voila, my ankle move backward and get a good heel lock. I think Rollerblade might realize the design mistake. That’s why they get rid of the strap in their website and move the 45 degree buckle upwards. Rollerblade should design the flap little bit upwards so the buckle can stay at center of the flap and when you ratcheting the buckle and move your ankle back.
man thanx for this advice, this really helped me, I also used wider strap and ratchet from fr, used longer insole with articulated feet form, now I think problem solved for 70%, I'll try my fit footies later.
I experienced the EXACT same issues. And my feelings and thoughts were EXACTLY the same. Heel lift/ no heel lock. Toes cramped to the front, width was perfect. I wear size 12us/46EU. And im still trying to adjust the skate so that i can enjoy them.
You can certainly see the years and years of development experience behind this boot. They thought of a lot of things that skaters complain about. Very cool to see. Thanks for sharing 🤟
Just goes to show that the fit is the most important aspect when choosing inline skates. I feel you with the heel lift. It's definitely a red flag for me on any skate. If there is heel lift, it's unlikely to go away with more wear. I have really thin ankles so I am struggling a lot with this. Pressure points go away, however if the skate rubs in certain places or you have too much wiggle room, you just have to search for new skates most of the time unfortunately. I wish there were skate fitting shops, like there are for skiing, as skating enthusiasts we are always searching for the "dream skate" that fits like a glove.
Just curious what you mean with "skate fitting shops"? I did some skiing (and especially snowboarding) in the past but I don't remember fitting shoes for those sports being a different experience than fitting skates in a physical skate shop (it has been quite a while though..). Still, in my country there aren't many places to go for the more high end skates as far as I know. But at least I have have a nice shop in my town to go for wheels, bearings and all the stuff you'll usually buy a bit more often :)
Yeah I’ve been fortunate with both my FR1 Intuition and my FR SL. But honestly, the actual amount of heel lift in these is just so much. It’s why I didn’t even try fixing it in the 41s and decided to just try sizing down. Makes me wonder if I should just go buy half a dozen pairs of SLs so I know I’ll have skates that fit for years, because they feel great on my feet

Thanks for dropping this review which i was eagerly anticipating! I wanted to ask if you found the cuff support for the crossfire more, less or equal to the FR1 intuition? I also have the crossfire and experienced some slight heel lift as well. Experimenting with thicker socks and different insoles (superfeet carbon) helped with the heel lift.
The FR1 Intuition is more supportive and comes up higher. I also experimented with thicker socks and superfeet carbon insoles. Is your heel locked well now, or is it better but still lifting?
@@rerollinginline Thanks for replying:) The heel lift is lessened to a tolerable amount, but there is still some heel lift present unfortunately. I have the same mondopoint as you but had to size up to a 42 as my feet are wide (E width). I was surprised that you managed to squeeze into a size 40.
You can try tongue inserts to add padding in the ankle part of the tongue and help with heel lock, also worth trying a heel shock absorber that will slightly elevate your heel and make the heel lift less pronounced.
Thanks for the honest first impression. I wish I had seen this before I bought the RB crossfire. But there is light: It seems to me that I have improved the heel lock with an orthopedic insole. It's slightly thicker, so I'll evaluate that. It would be a shame to return the Crossfire as it's all I was looking for. The skate isn't narrow, because i have wide feet, its the fact that your foot will slide forward unless you can find a way to sink your feet so you dont get heel lift.
Really interesting about the sizing. I have a wide forefoot/toes but high arch and narrow heel. This kind of shape is most common in runners, especially those of us who wear minimalist shoes. I haven't been able to fit any in line boots that fit well, currently in Powerslide Swells and I have to wear too-long of a skate just so the footbox isn't crippling. Anyone know of a shoe/brand that has a better shaped toebox? My foot dimensions: 285m length, 124mm forefoot width, 66mm heel width.
Have you tried the K2 uptowns? It's UFS and flatter than a raised 165mm mount skate, and I don't know how the high arch etc would do, but they have pretty wide toe box and fairly fat padding above the heel. I don't have an especially wide foot I think, but never had a powerslide skate fit me well. They're narrow in my experience.
16:04 Hmmm...that heel pocket doesn't look at all like the one in my XTs. The FR one looks a lot similar, going to a "V" towards the achiles tendon. That's a big issue. EDIT: Is not, read on.
I think it’s a combination of things that led to my personal experience. The trouble is I can’t tell which aspects are affecting my heel the most. Also, as I’d mentioned in the video, these are speculative causes. I’ll likely continue to experiment with this when I have time.
@@rerollinginline So I got mine a couple weeks ago (I'm size 9, got size 9). Had the chance to fully test them. Initially I had the heel lock issue and they felt overall weird (roomy but not in a good way). It turns out is all about how you wear them and lace them. If I'm not careful to sink the heel fully and press against the pocket before lacing it will not work correctly. I end with crushed toes and poor heel lock, basically a foot that shifts forward. After taking care of that the skates now feel perfect and mega comfy. Another important thing is not to use any insole that is somewhat thick at the heel, I did so initially and the Aquiles tendon pinch on the skates was too low. After reverting to the stock insoles it feels correct again. Overall the best skates in my collection. I'm going to have a blast this winter with ice blades, I was initially interested on some "True Skates - HAZRDUS 9X" but now I'm going to use my crossfire.
In my experience with the boot, it’s really important to lace it all the way up to the top holes, to avoid heel lift and get your foot properly positioned. Specially tightening the two ankle lace holes.
Well, isnt the 45°-Strap the thing that should counter heel-lift? If it obviously doesnt, then what is it good for? Chosing a size down and skating for hours with cramped, aching feet and hoping the pain might go away isnt a good thing either. Seems like you are caught between a rock and a hard place. Honestly, I would just give up on the boots, sell them to someone whom they might fit better and go with a setup you are more comfortable with.
Three things will provide good heel lock in my experience: 1) proper snug padding around the achilles tendon and a well fitting heel cup, 2) a lacing scheme that allows the foot to be pulled back into that heel pocket, 3) a properly positioned 45 degree strap that pulls the foot back into the heel pocket as well as downwoard toward the base. My experience with the Crossfire echoes Jim's regarding heel lift. Perhaps thicker ankle anatomy is a better match for this boot?
@@endlessblading you are both killing me :D I'm thinking about changing my UFR intuition with something that will have better power transfert and better fit (the liner is great but the shell is a little big for my feet in 43.5-44.5). The point is to have a better heel lock on the right foot and I do have thin heels. I was really interrested in this boot because it was not expensive and available as a boot only to put, maybe, an arc frame ^^. My dreams of carbon are crushed. Maybe I could try to find a better plastic boot.

@@ed00r nope. The biggest difference was sizing down, but that came with its own problems in the toes because I was so crammed. When I said that in my appropriate size the heel lift was “completely unacceptable” I meant it. I didn’t even attempt to address it and decided to try a size smaller instead. At first I figured the size chart just didn’t match up with the “performance fit” that I desire, but then feeling the lift after sizing down told me either this boot has a design problem, or my anatomy doesn’t work for it.
I also have the same problem even though I sized down to size 39 (supposed to be 40 because my mondo is 25.5 mm)The heel lift problem is cause by the 45 degree buckle and the flap thing under the buckle sitting too forward on the boot. Trust me, I had it laced as high and tight as possible.
@@endlessblading you are both killing me :D
I'm thinking about changing my UFR intuition with something that will have better power transfert and better fit (the liner is great but the shell is a little big for my feet in 43.5-44.5). The point is to have a better heel lock on the right foot and I do have thin heels. I was really interrested in this boot because it was not expensive and available as a boot only to put, maybe, an arc frame ^^.
My dreams of carbon are crushed. Maybe I could try to find a better plastic boot.
I watched the video a few times for 2 reasons.... Mainly as I'm close to getting a pair of the boots, secondly... What did you drop at 3.25? ruclips.net/video/xkzq1dkD6Z4/видео.html .... It's been bugging me 😂😂😂
3:23 something dropped
Yeah it was the lens cap from my camera that is in my hoodie pouch
wallet drops off in 3:25!
No, luckily it was my camera lens cap
3:25 u dropped something
First!😅
Such a boring looking boot tbh. Same thing they did with the Twister 4x80, all black. You'd think they could come out with different color variations.
That's as subjective as it gets. I love the look
I usually prefer that “boring” look but I do wish manufacturers offered more options. And this one is very very black.
You can always change the cuff, they sale some other colors on their website..
how about adding something inside the boot for the heel elevation ? Is that option possible ? Might fix the problem ?
I tried a shock absorber and a carbon insoles.
@@rerollinginline still no good? 🥲
@@ed00r nope. The biggest difference was sizing down, but that came with its own problems in the toes because I was so crammed. When I said that in my appropriate size the heel lift was “completely unacceptable” I meant it. I didn’t even attempt to address it and decided to try a size smaller instead. At first I figured the size chart just didn’t match up with the “performance fit” that I desire, but then feeling the lift after sizing down told me either this boot has a design problem, or my anatomy doesn’t work for it.
you dropped something at 3:25
