I'm really interested to see the black IBM unit, that thing looks beautiful! Big fan of IBM's, and the neige one is Very similar to my first computer, but mine had the sliding door across the front. This was a major haul, man! Looks like TONS of fun, haha! Looking forward to all the videos that will come from these systems.
What a collection that is!!! You definitely won’t be short of content for a good while 🤣 Those beige cases really are nice, though to be honest everything in that haul is brilliant. And a dellfest!
Yes going to be lots of content available for sure! I will of course be conducting testing of everything and then deciding on a path forward for each machine / CRT. CRTs are great and add to the retro experience - just really bulky and not wonderful to film haha.
Nice video. I hope you work on that Packard Bell soon. I really like the looks of that thing. I know I'll never have one like that as they are getting harder to find.
Great finds!! My most recent acquisition is a Commodore Amiga A500 From 1986 with a 7 mhz processor, which I will film a video about once I get a lot of free time! I got it with it’s original box and all of of the original accessories in the box! I got it as a gift from my father that he found in his attic recently & I believe it works! It looks like brand new by the way, the only thing that I didn’t get was the crt monitor for it. I hope your excited that for that video also!
Wanted to comment way back when but didn’t setup my account til now. Really like the content that’s come out of this haul. I was most excited by the IBM’s and the Pavilion but overall all are really neat!
Welcome!! Glad to have you along! IBM's are definitely my favourite... I live HP for their peripherals.. But love their systems as well! Stay tuned for more!!
Congrats on the mega haul!! Growing up, I've used a lot of PC's that are in your haul, so I am definitely looking forward to the exploration, teardowns, and restorations of these systems!! The PC's I used (at both home and school) were: the Dell Dimension 3000, the Dell Optiplex GX1, the HP Pavilion a1320n, the Dell Optiplex GX280, the Dell Optiplex 745, and although not the exact same model, but I had a Dell Dimension 4100 that uses the same case design as the XPS B933. Also, the very first PC I used was housed in the same case at 6:12.
Oh yes I do have a story about one Dell Optiplex 745 Small-Form-Factor which is still around to this day! I got it about 2011, back then it was running XP, I used it for about 3 years, then I gave it to my mom, she ran it for a good few of years too, got upgraded to Windows 7 at some point and also better CPU and more RAM. From there it went to one of my "customers" who ran it until just a few months ago when it got retired and I gave it to one little child who was interested in computers to experiment with :) When it got retired it had about the best Core 2 Duo it could handle, maximum of 8 gigabytes DDR2 RAM, 256GB SSD, some low profile ATI graphics card and Windows 10 Pro!
Call me an Enlight/Inwin snob, but only those two towers got my attention. I've done too many repairs on Dell PC's over the years. I just salvage the drives, RAM, and processor. The rest gets scrapped.
i worked at a place that had several Dell GX-620's, 745's, and 755's. They were all small form factor systems. The 620's and 745's suffered from bulging capacitors.
Wow, that really IS a mega haul! And that's a mega amount of Dells too lol I'm definitely looking forward to the vids on these, as my favorite pc's are towers from mid 90's to early 2000's, and many of those fits into that niche
Nice! Those Dell Optiplexes-the silver/metal and black ones-were in so many offices! But they're being made obsolete by Windows 11, which they can't run.
It's really crazy, congratulations 👍👍 I would also pick up more but unfortunately I only have a simple basement room and no car. At the moment I have about 40 retro systems here, unfortunately I can't do more. I have to think carefully about what I keep and what I have to pass on again, even if it's incredibly difficult for me.
Nice collection you have there. My friend found few days ago from electric trash PC from 1999 build date and gave it to me. The system was Intel Celeron 400mhz, motherboard is Asus MEL-M, Intel 440LX chipset in socket 370(does not support Pentium III cpu's sadly), but it has Yamaha DSXG audio chip(which is good in my opinion), Nvidia Riva TNT 16mb AGP, 256mb sdram and the case was not so usual micro atx, it is covered mostly to the plastic side panels but it worked very well. Only thing i needed to do is clean up little bit and reinstall windows 98 into it. Thanks for the video and hope we see some of those systems running in your videos. Greetings from Finland :)
Hello Finland!!! Hello from Canada!! :). There were so many manufacturers, systems hardware companies, different configurations, etc. Each system build had its purpose and no matter what we had, we always wanted to upgrade lol! Thanks so much for watching!
Damn! My man’s gonna out here cranking out content left and right for MONTHS with this lot. Very interested to see the Pavilion, I have a pair of those towers myself (a1350y and a1520n)
Wow dude! This is amazing! That IBM computer is very interesting, Pentium 4 and Windows 2000? Must be one of those early Willamette based Pentium 4s. I've never seen one of these before, so I'm very ineterested in that one!
The HP, IBM Netvista, the white Dells and the Precisions along with the Pentium 3 and Athlon XP ones are interesting. The rest of the Pentium 4 Dells are almost everywhere. My grandpa had the tower version of that IBM years ago - 1.6GHZ P4 with 256MB and 20GB IBM HDD. Too bad a lot of them seem to miss their side panels
@@TheRetroRecall I don't think anyone could say no :) even if some are nit worth keeping you never know what goodies you could find inside. A few GB of DDR ram or some higher capacity IDE drives would always come in handy to use in other systems
I had one of those Dell GX1 towers growing up. Mine was a Pentium 2 450mhz slot 1 CPU though. I am hoping you'll do something with that one! I've been trying for years to find one to soothe that nostalgia itch, but so far, no luck. I've just recently found a Fujitsu Siemens Scenic desktop, with a 667mhz Pentium 3. Not quite the same, but interesting in that it has a built in card reader. Like, credit card size, not SD cards. Either way, i was very excited to be playing around in Windows 98 again, after probably 20 years. I'm still not giving up on finding a GX1 tower though, that's the one i really want!

I am very curious how someone finds a recycling center willing to let you get these for free or super cheap. I figure they would just turn you away since they make money from the metal or reselling through online auction? Do you just walk in and say “hey i’m a collector, can I look through your pc scrap heap?” I would love to build that kind of relationship where they run across these mediocre systems but still want to save them for someone to save from scrap and repurpose. I do have a small collection but I would love to find some more early OEM boxes. I love the Dell Dimension with PIII and Packard Bell you got ahold of. Great find!
Hey there, it all depends to be honest. Not all come from the recycling. A lot of these systems are sourced from old schools, businesses, universities, etc before even going to the 'scrap pile'. I am fortunate enough to have contacts that will offer them up before going to the recyclers :). I also have friends who have contacts that like to help the channel knowing they are being enjoyed by many.
That's an excellent haul. Curious question. Do you keep every machine that you fix up, or do you sell them on into the retro community? I collect, and for the most part, I keep a large portion of what I find, but I tend to give away repeats into my community to spread retro PCs.
I definitely fix everyone of them up (eventually). Not 100% sure what I am doing with them after. I definitely want to make sure they are preserved an not tossed away again. I'm sure as time passes I will be faced with what to do with them, but for not I have the storage space.
Do i spot a Dell precision 410 in the lower left corner? That is a cool(and heavy) machine and very serviceable. I am waiting on an another slot 1 cpu to put in min for a SMP configuration(2x coppermine P3 @700MHz). Got a couple of SCSI HDD's(10k & 15k) for it as well plus some extra ram(SDR ECC) so it would be pretty cool how Windows 2000 would function on it. Writing an comment before fully watching the video :D. the 420 would be newer or more high end.
