Thanks for the mention and the link Glen, I appreciate it! I always enjoy your tong videos, your forge work is always so clean and a unique style that cannot be replicated.
It's my pleasure Jayce. Without your video, I would have had no idea about this tong / how to go about making it. I'm fairly new to your channel and will catch up on past stuff. You're obviously a much more well rounded blacksmith than I am and I enjoy your style... Thanks. 😬
I think this illustrates why so many of us don't like making tongs; the geometry! And having to think dimensionally outside the usual box we're in. Nicely done.
Just subscribed, lot of cool content you have going on. I mostly make kitchen knives as a job for the last 8-9yr after getting laid off work. With last weeks debacle of making (successfully but butt-uggo) two swage blocks, two hammers and a fullering tool I can categorically state that I'm a fairly rubbish blacksmith, but admire anyone who can.
Hi and thanks for subscribing. Since you're a knife maker I'll forewarn you - I make a knife for my next video and let's just say I should stick to tongs! I guess everyone has their thing since this craft is so varied. Good luck in all.
@@gstongs That's sort of the thing with any kind of art or craft, not everyone can draw or paint, some people can't sculpt and its just a matter of finding your own way or being taught by someone when you wander into new areas. Like for me, knife making is probably 10% on the hammers, 60% grinder and the rest is a mix of carpentry, making things flat, heat treatments and glue! Its not romantic or glamorous as I crawl out of my shed looking like a coal miner some days.
Gstongs makes some good pliers. He is very friendly and answers emails. I am soon going to buy a set of his tongs to help support his channel. It’s at least I can do sense I keep getting excellent idea from him. I am new to Blacksmithing and he is easy for me to follow along with.
You being a skilled Blacksmith you can knock out any shape whether the anvil shacks or not. I have watched many different blacksmiths at work and your skill at producing tongs is 100%.
I appreciate your very kind comment. Funny thing is I never notice the anvil jumping all around unless I'm watching one of my videos. It really is terrible but I really can't fix my small anvils to anything given my circumstances. Thanks.
Very nice work Glen! I recently started following Jayce over on Farmstead Forge and have enjoyed his work and channel like I do yours! The variety of craftsmanship and individuality you both possess and bring to this venue really broadens my perspective of what I hope, someday to be able to achieve. Keep up the good work!
I didn't watch his channel until prompted to do so for this video. I like his style and demeanor - a wonderful craftsman. Thanks Robert and I'll email you about something.
hmm I am a subscriber at farmstead forge ..the YT algorythm is doing me badly again Bolster looks good These look like they will do the business really well, thanks for sharing the process...Im off to farmstead to take a look at his job too now
Where did you get your guillotine tool? I am thinking of making one outta wood with a metal top and bottom fuller of course, because i dont have a welder
I designed my guillotine tool and had it made here in Taiwan where I live. A wooden guillotine it something I would want to see. Good luck in your work.
Hey….we can use those tongs to pull George Steinbrenner JR. by the nose and lead him to hire a new manager….another year Glen….Yankees need another WS….its been too long. I hope they don’t stink up the jernt this year….T/C Steve

You make a good point. So why am I so terrible at knives? Some things seem to come naturally, others, definitely not. Thanks Bryson.
I like the way you made that small guillotine. Right size and fast setup. I am going to make one that size now. Thank you
There's nothing fancy about my tube guillotine but simple is sometimes best. Thanks.

Nice job on Jayce's tong. Nice shout out for Jayce, I know him very nice guy and a very good Blacksmith.
I'm relatively new to his channel and I really like this way of going about stuff and easy demeanor. Thanks.

Hi and thank you for your very kind comment. I really appreciate it. Good luck in all my friend. 😬
Awesome lookin set. Never seen tongs like that.
Before this, neither has I. A useful sort of tong for sure. Thanks.
You are definitely the TongMaster my friend! A true artist! So very cool!
Hi Steve, just wait for my net video, a knife. Words like master and artist don't apply! Thanks for all.

Thank you Glen - very cool, can't wait to get it in my hands.
Hi Sherman, I really hope this tong works for you. Thanks for the inspiration and for pointing me in the direction of Farmstead Forge.
Well, those are different. And you made it look easy.
Adjusting this pair of tongs was a bit difficult. I must've edited out some curse words! Thanks John.
You are a master of your craft! Great job Glen!
Thanks Rob.
Nice. Very nice. I have never seen tongs like that. I am gonna give that a shot. Thanks mate.
Hi James, this style has its place. I need to make one for myself. Thanks.
Ya, a neat tong style for sure, nice Glen.
Now I need to make one for myself. Thanks.

Very interesting, Master Glen.
Hey Ron, this sort of tong certainly seems to have its place. I'll make another for myself when I get a chance. Thanks.
Way cooler than CNC anything! Beautiful workmanship!

I really enjoyed watching his video without which I wouldn't have been able to make this pair. Thanks.
Спасибо за видео.
Thanks.
interesting style. and as per usual, really well made. I do wonder at your downstairs tenants though...
Yeah Greg, I also wonder! But they know me well by now and I have to keep my hammering to a certain window of time - not too early... Thanks.
It's a metal magic!
Thanks for your kind comment.
Thank you marvelous
My pleasure.
We the people approve of those togs ..oh btw i being meaning to tell u the bending jigg works great I being using it often 👍👊
Hi my friend, I'm glad the bending jig is working out. Thanks for all.
Hey, as skilled a blacksmith as you are, you see you have a tool you use, is it something you have low or bought cheap.
Which tool are you referring to?
Where did you get your guillotine tool? I am thinking of making one outta wood with a metal top and bottom fuller of course, because i dont have a welder
I designed my guillotine tool and had it made here in Taiwan where I live. A wooden guillotine it something I would want to see. Good luck in your work.
I saw that video, made a pair, not as pretty as yours but work really well. 😊
I'm really glad to hear that. I now need to make a pair for myself. Thanks.
New subscriber to your channel. Really enjoying it!! Wondering what the spray is that you used to finish the tongs?
if I remember correctly its like a wd40
👍

Haha! Good one. Been way too long but I think the Yanks won't stink up the jernt this year. We'll see... Thanks.
Okee
Either your hand or your hairy legs have to appear 😁
Hi Dennis, Just wouldn't be a GS Tongs video without it. I had to edit my next video exactly because of my hairy arm loving the limelight. Thanks.
