The entire program is amazing, but it's nice to have this one by itself. By far the best interpretation of this piece i've ever heard, unorthodox technique or not.
Yet is clean, clear and bell-like, with a sort of gypsy jazz hard attack he enjoyed. This has been debated, his guitaristic approach to the lute, but in the end it still sounds great. The range of timbers, the precise technique, and the way he strings along all the parts of the song, respecting the form, with the monumental crescendo in the end more than make up for the lack of historic technique.
@@InfernoXVYet he manages to sound better than 90% of the YT lutenists that play in period technique. Seriously, people that make comments like yours, usually don't even play
Wonderful John Dowland and the sublime Julian Bream. Thank you to both. Julian always seemed such a nice man.
Sublime. The music just flows so well in this combination of Bream and Dowland. They were made for each other.
RIP maestro!
Shut up!!
@@Budy69able what's your problem exactly? That JB passed away, or that he was a master guitarist and a great musician??
Much love RIP Maestro can't believe it's been 4 weeks already.
The King of the Lute ! Alas, we shall not see his like again ! xxxxxxx

what a hideous lute tone.
Its not hideous in and of itself, but its very guitar like
@@tientje98which is hideous by lute standards… the point is he’s basically playing a guitar in lute drag.
