Happy to see you restore your honor with the Toucan this week :D Keep up the great work looking forward to next week to see the evolution to the garbage truck.
XD I think it was the only one, hopefully in future weeks I can incorporate more!
Toucans , frogs, and maggots!! A wildlife treat this week ! 🤣 Looking forward to seeing the truck in action !!
I have a strong suspicion one of those reasons for not permitting landfill filming is because they don't want it seen that most "recycling" ends up at the dump anyway. I can't speak for down there, but here in the north-east, plenty of companies "pretend" they recycle and put it it right into the dump. I get it, money, but the average person might not be happy to learn about such truths.
That is so true. A guy collecting in central michigan one time that I saw went to all houses and dumped everything into the same truck 🤷🏼♂️
Yep. Recycling is tricky and expensive. But the problem is that so much recycling is really just “wishcycling”. Pizza box with pizza residue in it? Sorry, it’s contaminated and is trash. Plastic grocery bags? Most recycling places can’t process them. So most “recycling” ends up in the dump because people don’t care or think “someone else will sort/clean it” when in reality it won’t be. And I’m not saying every recycling program is a farce, but a lot are.
While that isn't one of the reasons he gave, I don't have enough information to argue against the point you made! :D
I'm a former garbage man. They break enviromental laws like crazy. They don't want it filmed.
There's alot of stuff you don't Wana see at the dump. Depending on the dump deceased animal from farms or labs are dropped off. Meat and food from stores unfit to sell is dropped off. I can see for not wanting to get hate from the outside why the dump is off limits
Brad, congrats on getting the new compactor, as I said in the first vid, you'd need one. So, more hints from an old garbologist. If you upgrade the truck down the track, see if you can get one with dual axle 'cross locking diffs' at the back; that way, you won't get bogged like you think might. Set up a tire account fund, you'll do tires at the dump, rarely though. Get a mechanic workshop that will work for you straight away. As you said, always empty the truck, food waste turns to acid very quickly. Watch out for people dumping rechargeable batteries in their rubbish, you'll need the fire department on speed dial, the compactor will compress them when fully loaded to the point they catch fire. Down the track you could get asked to do contracting work for other waste companies when they can't service their own clients. I'll leave it at that.
On the battery fire note, I’m gonna re-suggest one of my older comments to make an “oh shit” map with empty lots you could head to if you get a load fire
You're a heck of salesman Brad, you have us all absolutely Giddy at the prospect of watching a trash truck drive around and pick up garbage.
Can't wait for next week.
17:02 a maggot on your trailer, how sweet😂
You are steadily proving the naysayers wrong Brad. That’s a considerable amount of extra bins added to your route each week. Steady and consistent. The majority of us here are really rooting for your success and tbh I think your new venture is already that xx
I’ve said it before, and it bears repeating, I find this fascinating.
Perhaps you could offer the trailer as an extra service like oversized waste, like you'd pull up they load the trailer up and you get rid of it, im taking furniture, etc. SImilar to a dumpster.
I think he said he doesn't want to because he doesn't have the storage space for both the truck and trailer
A lot of business end up bankrupt bc they dont utilize the assets they have. You are absolutely right with focussing on your core service. All these cans in your driveway are a dead investment as long as they arent used for customers.
Can't film in the landfill. But most commercial garbage trucks have video 360 on the trucks.
Eh, i guess because his youtube channel is public.
My main thought is the director didnt want him to film because of OSHA finding violations committed by the landfill boys, then the director gets shafted. It's understandable
@@Paronak I'm sure. And it is understandable. Was probably what was said since Brad mentioned there was stuff said that he wasn't going to repeat on the channel etc.
The director of the landfill needs to know that the landfill services the public and therefore there is no expectation of privacy in public. I get where he is coming from and Brad is smart to just go with the flow. But the director should know he is actually in the wrong to ask you to stop filming.
@@matthewcoll9845anyone can ask you to stop filming but they have no authority to force you to stop filming if your in public.
My guess is his issue wasn't STRICTLY with filming (as many trucks do for insurance purposes) but rather the public posting of that video. While I am not sure of the legal strength of the request to cease posting landfill footage to RUclips, as the director of the landfill I want to respect his wishes, especially since free dumping at the landfill is a critical part of my business.
I had no interest in garbage till I seen these videos. Now I can’t stop watching!
Thanks for giving it a chance!
Awww, I'm so sorry you can't film at the dump anymore, I can't imagine what their reason is for that, I mean, its the dump, not a federal facility, so I'm confused on what liability they are worried about, seeing trash dumped, and a dozer pushing trash around? I cna't wait to see your new truck, I'm going to be so happy to see that footage, and you enjoying life better with having it too. Awww, thats so sweet, your wife loving to spend every moment with you, even it its this. I love these video's, my favorite series yet, thank you Brad! ♥
I love your videos so much because they give me motivation to keep going, in my lawn business venture. Granted these videos are about trash but its more about how you are atarting the business and just keep going. So thank you!
What would be better now is that this garbage truck is now your trash can. 😂🤣😂🤣You don’t even need a trash service now because you are your one service to your self. I hope this makes it into the next video!! Also love the trash can cleaning idea! Keep up the good work dude! Have a good day.
Wonderful expansion video, sounds like business is doing well enough a truck is viable option!
One idea for can cleaning, find a local guy who does that, promote their business for a percentage. No added work with an additional benefit to the community.
I love that you love working with your helpmate (wife), time is precious! Have an awesome Monday!
With the new trash truck, will you do furniture removals aka sofas, beds, and appliances like washing machines and dishwashers.
This is a good idea. It would be a cool idea if Brad did bulk.
I think it is a great idea but not one I want to get into. Remember a big reason I started this trash endeavor was to limit/reduce physical labor and wear and tear on my body. I don't think bulk pickup would line up with that (but don't know enough to die on that hill yet).
@@CopperCreekCuts Yeah, it would be hard work on your body, but you could charge way more.
@@CopperCreekCutsyou have a good point but you should still have a think about it especially if your customers have old bulky items that they need to get rid off and can't because no one else does that thing in your area (to my knowledge) and they know your a hard worker so they will pick you, also it will be a good amount of profit seeing as your going to the customer anyway to get the weekly trash, just my thoughts totally your call
That's also alot more wear and tear on the truck
I believe you've thought this through well. After all, you've been in business several years. The truck will help you so much, saving time and effort. As far as spending time together, kudos to you and your wife. I remember when I retired from teaching, it was a bit tough being home most of the time. It was an adjustment. We haven't killed each other after 13.5 years. 😅
To be clear I'm not complaining about the landfill filming request it really doesn't take anything away from the quality of the videos . I just want to say as a you tube viewer for the past 7 years i have never heard any You tuber mention such a thing there are literally channels on you tube that are about landfills (Mr Digg. Dumpster Dave ) but other channels like Andrew Camarata diesel creek all show trash dumping on a regular basis on their channels it's just a weird request is all .
Another great video, Brad! Love watching them and I can’t wait until next week and seeing the new truck!
Brad - It's been awesome watching you grow over the years. Congrats on all you've accomplished. I can't wait to see your new truck!
I appreciate that! Thank you!
I always drill a couple of holes in the bottom of my trash cans so if it rains with the lid open it’ll drain out, I live in Florida too
glad to see you getting a garbage truck i have been watching since episode 0 i look forward to watching your videos every week
NOW U HAVE A DUNP TRAILER U CAN RENT AND MAKE MORE LOOT ......WHOOOO CANT WAIT TO SEE THE GARBAGE TRUCK MAN .....CONGRATS TO U GUYS !!!!!
🎉Congratulations on investing in a garbage truck🎉 those blue things are called sewer hooks. I can’t believe you moved a tree with them. 😂🥵
She said trees and my heart sank. Thankfully they were more like saplings :D My brain was toast at the end of that day!
@@CopperCreekCuts 😂 stay safe and have a great Monday
This has become a part of my weekend routine! Keep it up!
If you're thinking of camera angles for the rear loader, a head mount angle would be really good. Since there's so many levers and a tipper, and a packer I think that'd be best. More of a POV shot if you will.
You're a lucky man and chose well to have such a good marriage. 👍
Thank you for the kind words!
You seem a lot happier ever since you got your truck
Complete game changer! :D
I love that you work with your wife and love it. I hope someday if I get married I can do the same.
I'm shocked you haven't started a separate channel for the trash pick up videos! Awesome job keep up the good work!
Now that you have a garbage truck and you arnt using liners from now on I’d leave the lids open for the customers to know they have been serviced, and if the cans dirty and it rains it’ll clean the bin for them. Atleast if they don’t dump the water out you have a lift to dump it for you. I’d also leave the can closer to the curb it’s faster. Congrats on getting a truck!
Brad congratulations on getting a new truck your health will thank you god bless you brother
Thanks so much!
looking forward to the garbage truck vids
they way dirt roads work in my area - customers are required to take their trash cans to a central point that is accessible and agreed upon to make pickup possible no matter the weather. if you however have competition in the area willing to pickup dirtroads at the housefront then it would make it harder to mandate that and sell your service
Yeah, and the other two guys have no problems taking dirt roads. I say let them have them! :D
Why would you not be able to film in a landfill? They hiding something? But they can film you going into the landfill. Some thing is not right there.
Happy for you and your wife Brad, glad to see your trash business is improving the way you want it man, very much deserved.
Thank you!
You should do recycling too
Brad, when you start using the new garbage truck, you won't need to use can liners?
I don't know how this would work out, but I was going to suggest something.
Bring a cordless drill with you, and drill two small holes in the bottom of each can. This will allow water to drain out of the cans, causing less weight and frustration.
This is also dependent on if the client owns the can outright, or if you are the legal owner, and they have a lease on the can.
My thinking is preventing the water from weighing down your truck, plus the additional odor. I'm not sure if these types of trucks have drainage built into them or not.
Just a thought my friend.
Good thinking! The cans are mine. I use the term 'selling' a can loosely just to mean placing it in service. Drilling holes could work! We won't use liners moving forward, they were only there so I could collect loose trash and any bags at the bottom without having to dig around the can.
I can't wait for next week's video!
My wife and I started a trash business 3 months ago in NY. we have a similar set up with an f350 and a 7x14 high side dump trailer. We just crossed over 100 customers and about 115 cans. We're looking at a protainer propactor trailer currently. Would love to connect sometime!
Have you made any videos?
That's great that you and the wife make great work buddies. My wife and I worked together at the same job about a decade ago, and it was calamitous. I wanted to be efficient and fast, and she insisted we play it by the book. Three months later I happily found another job, and for that we're still married! 🙄
LOL Love it!
you need one of those projector trailers
Hey Brad great video
Can't wait to see the new truck in action! Sorry to hear about the landfill filming but I'm sure they have their reasoning. Glad we were able to see it the videos up until this point at least.
Thanks 👍
That truck's a rolling billboard, don't forgot to look into company decals or advertise the local pickup service and can drive around areas your interested in servicing or park it in public view throughout the week.✌️
Since you’re staying in your state, you can drive anything within your state and almost any weight like a dump truck with just a class B. Class A would be for long haulers.
14 DELIVERIES! Brad that’s amazing! And gotta love the toucans!
13:27 This perfectly describes me and my Family. We make the dumbest jokes ever and laugh for minutes about them for no good reason. Me and my trash driver also laugh a lot too. If there’s laughter involved in your work, you know you’re at the right spot.
Can’t wait for next week!
Have you seen the trash cleaning pressure washing trailers? Maybe advertise doing it once a year for your clients for X amount?
I like this video and can’t wait to see your truck next week
Since you can’t show the garbage truck dumping at the land fill can you show it when it’s empty at the house how it operates and functions? I’d like to see that.
Yes, absolutely! I am trying to close out the design of a cab wrap and hoping that will be done in the next week or so. Once that is done I will do a full tour and operations video. I am hoping between 2 and 3 weeks until that is posted.
This is interesting seeing this business. Brad keep grinding. 👍👍
Thank you!
For those wondering what wet roads mean, its when the road turns almost to mud.
that sucks the landfill part is the best, i wonder if they are worried about security of whats being dumped in the landfill
I'm pretty sure you can buy a can dumper for your trailers. To mount to your dump trailer. Instead of doing it that way.
Keep the trailer for bulk items (couch’s sofas tables)
You could always use the dump trailer for bin delivery if you get a lot of orders in one week
Thanks for another entertaining video Brad. Looked like a lot of the cans got a free washout that week!
I'm glad they were just asking you to stop posting video from the landfill. I was wondering if it was going to be something like, hey you actually need to pay X rate as a private hauler, or can't dump here when you mentioned it!
You probably are already on this, but when the time comes to order some more cans, get some extra replacement lids, tipper bars, and wheels just in case, if you haven't already.
For can washing service, check out the setup Binboy uses. They're a hauler in Melbourne, AU and they have a channel here on YT. Basically a few of their rear load trucks have an onboard pressure washer unit and water tank mounted on the side under the body. Something like that might be an easier option than getting a whole separate washing trailer or truck, though it might be a little more work for cleaning really dirty cans. video titled Binboy ep 7 shows it in use.
For post Christmas pickup I agree, just collect it. Heck, 90% of it is probably air anyways. If you want to play it safe just send out a notice that 'we will collect up to X amount of bags/boxes extra free of charge after the holiday' so you have cover to charge extra if someone has some ridiculous amount.
Have idea so when do leaf pick up if you in your area you could use your packer truck for leafs too
Then you could do yard waste too
I’m with you on not renting out the trailer Brad! It will be a nightmare and a headache I know you don’t want. I’ve rented out our chipper a few times to friends along with my Billy goat brush cutter and everything always came back broken in some way or another. I can however see it helping out with some of the Copper Creek work though. Keep her minty for that 😎
Well sir, things are looking up. Congrats on getting a garbage truck, looking forward to seeing a walk around and demo on it. With regards to your pre branded dump trailer, if your feeling like a glutten for punishment it lends itsself to bulky item collections maybe.
Glad Christina and I are not the only ones whom work well together 😏
People are amazed that we spend all our time together 🤷
I definitely think it is the minority that could make that happen. Good on you/us :D
Once you are full time garbage truck, will you continue using liners? I'm excited to see the truck. Good work brad
No, he has stated that the truck replaces the need for liners. Because he will be able to tip them in the truck.
Is the landfill public? You can film there if it is.
Director was a bully, he doesnt want OSHA to find out his boys are doing something stupid
There is a difference between can and will/should. Legally speaking Brad almost certainly can. If he wants to keep using this free landfill without any headaches he probably shouldn't.
Awesome video! Glad to see you are learning new things! That guy who told you not to film, is because they do not want to show the recycling with the trash because they do not want to face the public with that lol.
Btw, you should have the Toucan as your mascot lol.
Haha, love the toucan mascot idea!
You and your wife relationship sounds a lot like my husbands and I. We spend just about every minute of every day together and make the stupidest jokes. Hahahaha but we have the best time together and wouldn’t choose anything else! ❤
Sounds like a win to me! :)
Hard work!
wow lotf work
"Rear Loader". LOL
The easiest way to solve a problem is to prevent it. Every point you make is the essence of preventing problems and maximizing your profits, time and energy.
What u need to do is drill holes in the bottom of the bins like I did with ours so if the wind blows the lid off no more water problems
Good tip, thanks!
Nice, can't wait for the truck. I hope you take some good B-Roll of the truck so we can see how it works empty without the video from the tip.
its only 2 days i can wait
i can wait
*i can wait*
I NEED TO SEE THE GARBAGE TRUCK
3:15 "I'm a guest in this guys house"
Did you mention that his house smells like 💩?
😁
oh man! You are manually lifting the garbage bags out from the bins. That's a lot of work! You must have restrictions on what can go in those cans. Imagine people putting in demolition debris and broken glass. That would be a nightmare.
your numbers are climbing nicely
I have a class A cdl myself and its really not anything crazy to look into. The class B is even easier tbh. I think its defo something to look into just for future proofing yourself but can also understand why you would say to wait on it as well.
Thanks for the tip!
If you can’t find a place to mount the cameras, you could turn the videos kinda Into pov type videos. Can’t wait for the truck tho.
Will try a head mount. Not sure if it will get here in time for tomorrow's run.
When you get older will your kids run your trash business? I also enjoy your videos too!
I doubt it! :D
Brad you’ve probably already made up your mind on this topic, and that’s ok, but I wanted to know if you would be at all interested in doing holiday rent an extra can for a week kinda deal. This service would cost more than your normal can (say $12 for example). Of course you’d have to look at it and see if it would be worth it between dropping the extra cans off and then collecting them again, and if anyone would be at all interested. But If it’s not worth it, it’s not worth it.
Not a bad idea! Maybe an interesting way to get people to try it that normally go to the dumps themselves!
I am so happy that RUclips spectators have dragged you into getting a proper garbage truck. Here's some unwanted viewer's toucents. Since you are getting less big swing/motion with the rear loader, maybe back to head-mount camera? Would be cool if those NPR has one of those side-step that you hang onto. Dedicated mics to capture the sweet compaction crunch might (emphasis on MIGHT, not gonna be responsible for compacted audio equipment) be ASMR material? If the missus is cool, maybe some video/audio from the cab forward view for filler/b-roll.
In the end, Brad might not need a worker but a video editor on contract. 500k subs before Thanksgiving?
If you can you should do two side loader with recycle and garbage.
I can't. That would be incredibly expensive.
As the business grows, have you considered adding can cleaning as a paid service? Pretty good integrated equipment available.
Yes. I covered that in this video.
You should keep the trailer for larger items like furniture that wouldn't fit in the truck
Go pro head mount or even the chest mount would provide good angles.
Personal experience as a person who works in industries that no filming is common, I think the largest reason would be liability.
While you and the people who work at the landfill know whats going on why things happen the way they do, the layperson won't and sadly not everyone asks questions before making assumptions.
An example in my field of work is that of a funeral home in Texas IIRC, they had a person who was going to be cremated on a cot with a flag over his lower half as he was a veteran. Now to someone like me, I know exactly why this happens, not everyone wants to pay for a casket and he as laid out in a respectable manner. However someone took a picture of the body and it went viral online and people were calling out the funeral home for disrespecting the corpse and stuff because they believed they were too cheap to give him a casket. It eventually ended where the funeral home footed the cost of a casket because so many people were sending threats.
I could see this happening, someone who doesn't understand the workings of waste disposal especially in a landfill will make assumptions about people doing illegal things, one I see in your comment section already is the "Recycling Hoax" where people claim landfills who do recycling don't actually recycle because its more expensive. However I can probably see more than one reason as well that would be equally valid.
Very wise insight and comment, thank you for sharing!
Y’all are growing very fast. Congratulations on the new truck. How many other companies went in to this when you did? What kind of equipment do they use? Is there enough room for all of y’all? Sorry for all the questions just curious if you’re getting new customers because the people weren’t happy with the others? I guess you left the garbage on dirt roads for the others lol. Pun intended.
No worries on the questions! Watch episode 0 or 1 (I answer all those questions in that video)
@@CopperCreekCuts you’ll be the king of garbage in baker lol.
@@CopperCreekCuts just watched. I remember now. It’s too bad the people on dirt roads don’t have better options. I’ve seen in some rural areas where they have a central station where residents can drop off. Seems like there should be a way for them to get services.
Congrats on obtaining a packer. You should be able to pack all 200 cans and then some into an 8 yard body. Even a small unit like any one you could get will pack in the high hundreds of pounds range. That would be that whole dump trailer load give or take into one yard of that body. Of course that also depends on the material being packed. If you do bulk it would have to be a separate pickup. It seriously reduces your packing volume and appliances do not pack well and usually require special dumping.
with all 200 cans i dont think it will fit all in the one 8 yard truck.. a 10 or 12 yard truck possibly but with a little 8 yard he may need to do 2 runs( which would be alot better than the 4-5 his trailer would hold and the fact each stop is shorter
Nobody is going to want to pay for recycling. They expect it to be free.
How did you advertise trash service? Did you try door hangers/flyers?
200 cans placed and a trash truck. Just working a few days a week can bring good money.
I know your stance on recycling for now. Don’t know how it is in Florida but I’m sure there will be government stuff eventually in the future where your customers will have to recycle. At least with a truck now you could get the cans to your customers and do a recycle pickup once every two weeks on a different day than garbage, with the same truck. I don’t know where you live exactly but usually there are facilities that’ll buy the load from you by the ton. Not really a suggestion. Just a thought I wanted to type out. Seems like you will be able to keep doing this into the future, especially with a truck now where you can offer the services if you have to.
Thanks for the info, I appreciate it! I think we are probably a long way off from being forced to recycle but who knows anything nowadays?
What I want to know is . . . does it drive you a tiny bit insane when you see curbs that have not been edged. At. All. ? 🤣
LOL Not anymore! :D
Nice job Brad! I was wondering what yo umeant by that sometimes you just sold cans. Do you mean like if someone wants to buy a can for personal use and not for weekly pickup?
Just a figure of speech I should have clarified. If I 'sell' a can that means I put it in service. I don't actually sell it.
@@CopperCreekCuts Oh ok that makes more since! Thanks brad!
Where is ur part 2 of the garbage truck video
Is there a separate trash company that picks up grass clippings/yard waste? What about items that don't fit in the orange trash can like a broken chair, etc do you pick up those items up too?
No, the city or lawn care companies will deal with that. Depends on what the item is and may carry an extra fee.
Question would it be a good idea if a small hole is drilled into the bottom of the cans so if water gets in it drains out 🙂
I may do that!
@@CopperCreekCuts 😁
@@CopperCreekCuts I would say be careful if you do this to try a few cans to start and see how it goes for a few weeks before doing the rest. I tried this at my work thinking it would be a good idea but ended up getting worms and all kinds of bugs crawling up through the holes in the cans making them extra gross in the bottom.
Also with the new truck water won't really be an issue since you won't have to lift the trash.
Why didn't you get the garbage truck Yet. I want to see a video on that That would be so awesome.
He had it. From his video last week it will make its appearance either next week or the week after.
Tell me you didn't watch the video without telling me you didn't watch the video... :D
Just out of curiosity what happens if you lift a toter bin and it unfortunately breaks because of how heavy it is or operator error do you offer a replacement bin or will you let your customers use their own personal toters
So question where are you going to park ypur garbage truck most counties have restrictions i would maoe sure you have that figured out
Our driveway, we won't have those issues. Good question and I will cover that later!
