Excellent video as usual, I'm always really excited to see the latest video you've uploaded. It never matters what the subject is. You could upload a 10 minute review on toilet paper and which was best, and I'd be just as stoked to watch it simply for the incredibly high quality, useful information, and production value you put into your videos. It makes a huge difference.
Keep up the great vids my friend, quality over quantity. Looking forward to the next.

Hey Will, this is kind of a noob computer question but how do I switch drives in my computer? I have a 2TB hard drive (in the computer) but everything I save or download goes to a 128 SSD (which only has 10GB left). Can you help me out? Thanks!

    • @JurgaBurgaFlintines

You choose a different drive to save it on when you download something. I think there is also a setting in chrome to change where downloads go.

  • @1337flite
    @1337flite 9 лет назад

I think one of the biggest differences between gaming and RAM is with video you have the frame already built, taken from the sensor of the camera - all you're doing is shovelling that data off your hard drive and through your CPU/video card.
With gaming the picture you see, each frame is calculated from a mathematical description in real time and much of that is done by the graphics card.
It's taking X-Y-Z co-ordinates, and building objects, placing them relative to each other, including light sources, calculating the where the light can go and reflect etc etc. Literally calculating the physics of the world you see.
i.e. games are a much different and much bigger problem than simply shovelling captured data through the system with minimal (comparitively) changes - which is what photographic video or stills image image processing is about.
With video hard drive and CPU are king.
With games specialised math is king.

The Motherboard is the platform, This is obvious. You can overclock cpu's or upgraded later on with not much fuss but your connectivity requirements are essential when buying in a production environment and having everything as far as connectivity is concerned built into the motherboard will save having to buy extra components in order to pass information whether internally or externally . Sure you may not need some of the features but More will cost you less. BTW I can't stress enough, always run from an UPS.

I would mention that those 4K TVs (this model included) are often running at 30Hz when used at 4K resolution and that they are probably not as good as a monitor as far as color accuracy goes. IMO I would wait a littlebit more for a 4K monitor / TV because the technology is not quite there yet (or affordable yet). Still a nice video and a good build for that price

with your last build you could have saved by getting a older high end nvidia gpu like the 690 or the 590 since they are WAY better for video editing than any normal gpus and they are usually cheaper than getting a brand new gpu. plus you could have cut down on the ram a little bit

What are you talking about? Since 2012 Adobe supports also OpenCL what means there is no need to buy a video card with CUDA. CUDA is simply a little bit more popular technology used in Nvidia GPUs. You can accelerate your rendering process with OpenCL offered by AMD cards as effective as with CUDA. Am I right?

Poor advice on recommending a bottom end power supply. Sure an 80 Plus Titanium supply (>90%) is probably not worth it for most people, but to tell people "it doesn't matter" is not only complete bullshit, but very misleading. Two "750W" power supplies can vary vastly between manufacturers. These include things like overvoltage/overcurrent protection, transient suppression on the input, and output regulation/ripple. A better design which is outfitted with better components will ensure that a.) the power supply does not fail, causing you to replace it ($$$), b.) your hardware keeps working reliably (not goofing up and BSODing), and c.) your hardware is protected in the event of an external fault or power supply failure. In the end, these will all save you time, money, and stress. Especially for amateur PC enthusiasts, the last thing they should have to deal with is a failed PSU and the grief that brings about.

Hey man, quick question; i'm a freelance film maker & have been working for 2/3 years, am hoping to upgrade from 2008 macpro to a PC system around this price range, would you say this system is still relevant?
You described this system as good for someone interested in making money off videos, considering I make videos on a full-time basis and am hoping to upgrade to 4k in about 6 months, do you still think this is good enough? I'm not interested in the cutting edge but rather staying competitive without spending over 1.5k

Thanks for the very nice instruction video. I am using here a Samsung 240GB EVO SSD and two Seagate ST2000DX001, 8GB Flash SSHD (Hybrid) Drives. This gives you a very fast responding editing system with Premiere CC 2015 because most of the scratch data is kept in the GB flash buffer. I have selected the Intel I7 6700K Processor. These are producing much less heat than AMD, so I don't need to use a water cooler. My budget was €1500 exclusive my LG screen wich I already got. My video card is a MSI GTX970 4GB Twin Frozen.

It will don't know if you know this but it seems like you don't, the power supply maybe rated for 750 watts but that rating is for what it can deliver to the actual components, when using a kilowatt you may be delivering 750 watts to all of your components but you would be pulling 900 (or something like that its just an estimation) from the wall. this is due to the efficiency rating of the power supply, hope this helps or at least informative.

I mostly use after effects and premiere pro for my edits and was wondering if its necessary to follow a raid system if I only conduct small projects (even if i don't make films and don't store lots of data of any type on my computer), is their still a risk of a hard drive failing.

Is Intel Xeon E-5620 good for video editing ? I know it's a bit old but it's really a cheap CPU.
Also, is there a huge difference between the Intel Xeon E-5620 vs Xeon E-5649 except the extra 2 cores the 5649 has ?

I want to build a linux computer for video editing. Would that be different in any way? Mainly I wonder about being able to take advantage of dedicated scratch disk and GPU when not running Adobe (which I assume are not making linux versions of their software)

Thanks for sharing this new build. I have a question regarding the monitor. Did you have to or need to calibrate it for color correction duties? I currently have a Vizio E320-A0 that I sometimes plug-in, but hardly every use it for coloring because it's so overly saturated. I know it's hardly the best option, but before I jump into a new one I'd love to at least attempt the build with it. Is color correcting an issue you encountered besides the button pixels and size? Thanks!

Why 9590? Just OC an 8350. 9590 isn't worth the price. It's a higher binned 8350, If I need something higher than an 8350, I'd just get a E3 Xeon, or an i7.

Okay this is my first time browsing on Newegg and for PC parts in general. I would love to do some low-medium video editing for under $1200, but I'm not sure if this combination would work?
    (1) SanDisk 2.5" 128GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
    (2) WL 2 Terabyte (2TB) 64MB Cache 7200RPM SATA2 (3.0Gb/s) 3.5" Internal Destkop Hard Drive
    (1) ASUS Z97-C LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
    (1) Intel Core i7-4790K Haswell Quad-Core 4.0GHz LGA 1150 Desktop Processor BX80646I74790K
    (1) EVGA SuperClocked 02G-P4-2662-KR GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
    (4) 4GB DDR3 SDRAM sticks
    (1) 400W PSU
Is there anything I could do/improve/fix this? Any good suggestions?
