in gen 1 the catch rate is determined by a fraction of the health, if the bar is red, or even just less than 1/3rd of it's full HP it has the same effect on catch rate as if it was on 1HP you're just risking fainting the pokemon and missing out on your opportunity to catch it.

You have to trade your Kadabra. I used a special emulator which allows you to trade... Search it up on RUclips, there are quite a few methods to trading pokemon through different emulators!

The fact that they had it as "the ball missed rather than showing it shake and break" i at age 7 playing this game fully believed legendaries could only be caught using the master ball and later fainted many many legendaries thinking I would never be able to capture them, it wasn't until I was 12 and I was shown differently
Mine too! My first ever pokemon game was pokemon crystal, which i shared with my brother :p But when i realised you cant naturally get charizard, I got Pokemon Blue and I loved every minute of it! :)
The reason why you missed with the ultra balls at so many tries is because in generation 1 of Pokémon you have to get the Pokémon to fall asleep before trying to catch it for a 100% accuracy to hit it with an ultra ball, otherwise you'll miss it because of some special program codes in the games. So trying to paralize it won't work to get all tries with ultra balls to actually hit the Pokémon. I hope this comment helps you understanding why. :)
I’m not entirely sure... I’ve tried countless times to get Pokemon Blue and Red to run with this colour patch but I haven’t been able to reproduce it ever since I recorded this footage
So i went to catch Articuno and i missed him with 20 ultra balls and he had the tiniest bit of health left so i couldn't weaken him any more. I used 1 great ball... Instant catch... WHY!!!!!!!!

It is ALWAYS a good idea to save the game before you engage ANY legendary pokemon!
I used Lapras sing as my first attack and used 2 Pokeballs while he was asleep and captured him with full health!

The strongest of all legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Blue and Red is Mewtwo! So be aware of its move Recover!
In my experience I have caught every legendary in this game the first time with the ultra ball never missing by putting them to sleep.

Uses Sand attack on Mewtwo.... but Mewtwo uses swift which never misses
the phrase "you missed the ball" or "you missed the pokemon" can be stopped by lowering the enemy stat
You only miss when your pokemon is at a lower lvl then the one your trying to catch

I was trying to catch Moltress and I missed 19 times with ultra balls but on the last one I caught it
in oras I was trying to catch palkia and I missed 26 ultraballs, the last one caught it. It was on 1 hp, paralyzed.

Once you get to one, save so say you accidentally kill one you just shut of your Game Boy and turn it back on.
