@@devinlanders4697 yea belloq in azteca is easy, belloq can be beat in one round rn with wizards but if you're in zafaria and ur the level youre supposed to be belloq is a PAIN.
I remember doing 4v4 matches in the arena and the people going second, with the extra pip, would sometimes first round glow bugs. It would be worse if the storm wizard went last in the lineup, and was buffed 3 times before hitting. What a time to play the game lol.
i used to be apart of the 4v4 community as well 😭 i was a jade so I definitely know where u coming from lol, unless the death would predict it and use beguile
I haven't played w101 in a very long time and likely won't come return, but this takes me back. Even though I never played Fire, I still felt like the old Efreet was a really cool spell and I didn't really have much of a problem with it. Sure it was pretty damning to get hit by an Efreet when you went second, but otherwise the -90% debuff was manageable. And when the Rank 8 spells were initially released, it honestly just felt like one of many new powerful spells, and us other schools all appreciated the other toys we got. I'm aware for example that Snow Angel is an objectively terrible spells nowadays (and I played enough of Arc 3 to feel it), but back in the day it was a pretty impactful spell for Ice to receive. It did 760 damage for 8 pips as an AoE, which simply put it far ahead of anything else Ice had to offer even if it was a DoT. Being a DoT didn't even seem to be a big deal at the time, which I assume is because the game just became much faster paced as time went on. Sun spells warped the game hard, but you didn't hate it and it definitely didn't make the game unfun. Casting uber-charged Lightning Bats or other Rank 2 Spells might have been silly in hindsight, but it was also back in the time where there often very little reason not to use your biggest hits to get through what was endgame. If you were using it in PvE, it was probably because you were backtracking through content you were overleveled for.
I remember peak Lore master being uber broken for PVP, it was one of the things that balance wizards had power over. Im very bad at pvp (still am) but I remember just being able to spam that 4 pip spell and winning at lower levels
The glowbug squall got so many changes On release 1220 remove all blades Then 1120 remove all blades Then 720 remove 1 blade nerf to hell Then 940 And now 1040 I still love this spell
I got back on wiz few months ago and I seen the fire darkmoor spell got change I'm thinking to myself why damage overtime it was fine the way it was I had it in my trap deck.
Missed cards: - Guardian Spirit on release - Dark Nova during the 130 pvp meta - Bad juju being available in pvp - EARTHQUAKE - Basically any pre-nerf pet maycast (infal, brace, shatter, enfeeble)
call of khrulu was busted in test realm. it was 1100 damage aoe drain. it was back when enchants only applied 2/3 of the damage to drains, but it still would've been nearly 1300 with colossal (this was before epic existed). although it's not like you could use it because at the time the animation took so fucking long
Onis shadow on release was basically a mana burn and gave shadow pips. it was cracked with dark nova Guardian spirit when jading + healed 8k Bad juju back then sinbad when it was on a maycast wand and the minion soloed max wizards. only in game for like 3 days
Pre-nerf Khrulu is maybe even the best spell of all time it was completley broken in both pvp and pve, and theres a reason it got nerfed waaayy before all the other also broken darkmoor spells.
Echanted Armament pet completely broke the difficulty curve of the early game for me because of the Sharpen Blades it gives, I play on 3 accounts at once and content is already easy enough as-is that way but with sharpen blade it's easy to do 2-3k damage in just a few rounds even in Krok/Marley
Do you think you can make in depth guide explaining all parts of the wizard101 battle system from card types, the symbols, the pips? I havent found a video like that and enjoyed your lore videos
I'd argue it's crow. Solid Damage esp with the spellement dmg path and the fact you can pretty much solo the entire game w/ only a few cheats dont allow AOE since you pretty much can not die with it and dont have to worry about going into a team to complete a fight. With temp you're kinda banking for a 1 shot that takes away all ur pips, if you cant kill then you have to wait even longer and risk just dying.
Now that they let other schools train into more of death’s drains my balance runs a death mastery amulet (so I can use arch mastery school pips for other spells and not be forced to keep it as death pips) and throws out scarecrow just as often as I do supernova. I’ve already training to feint regardless so the extra training points spent are worth it in spades considering I wind up soloing more often than not.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the item card sharpen, cause having the standard sharpen spell doubles the amount of blades you can use, the item card triples it
The old card text for efreet is so fried like what were they thinking with that. It isn't just the 90%, like sure that's OP, but to describe putting a weakness on an enemy as -90% incoming damage is just incorrect 😂
I don’t think elucidate would be that broken currently because you would sacrifice 300 damage from not enchanting the spell using epic for 2 pips so essentially you’re reducing the damage per pip with elucidate
@@JpForrReal Fun fact theres still a bunch of elucidate in game and alot of pple that can afford them are using them in pvp the average cost for 1 elucidate is like 2$
I dont really agree with efreet being on this list tbh and I think monsterous/epic is way too low, I think a situational spell that was really not used much in pve and, while good in pvp, was never meta defining there shouldnt be above spells that are basically required in both pve and pvp (when they were allowed in pvp) Edit: Also something you didnt mention with tempest that is kinda nice is that as far as im aware its the only aoe in the game you can still pre-enchant, meaning you can keep enchanted tempest in your side deck without ever needing to clutter your main deck with it + an enchant
that's 100% fair. I do think monstrous/epic is an overall better spell. my justification for putting pre nerf efreet on the list is because of how many times it would DESTROY people in pve. If going second there are times where you would set up your big hit only to get hit with efreet and all your damage getting ruined and ur entire set up wasted
@@ValToadstoolAs someone who was 1000+ rank in every school I played even as far back as dragonspyre up until darkmoor release(where I took a long hiatus), efreet was always a good spell but never meta defining unless it became meta defining sometime after darkmoor(which I highly doubt). Maybe this is a difference in how we define meta defining, because when I say meta defining I mean it defined the meta it was best in and was undoubtedly one of the most important spells of that pvp meta. For example, post shrike loremaster or azteca/avalon guardian spirit. Efreet was never on that level, efreet at its peak during the waterworks meta was a really strong option on a really good school but wasn't part of fire's central gameplan and fire probably wasn't even the best school at the time, myth was. Once Zafaria hit, fire fell off a little so efreet became less relevant then avalon + Azteca happened where ice could have 80-100% resist to storm and fire while still having competitive stats against other schools + no good pierce options at the time put fire as the second worst school in game, only a little better than storm, so obviously efreet wasn't meta defining there either, and then finally shrike happened which actually gave fire a good way to get past that resist but it also buffed balance with loremaster to ridiculous heights so obviously it wasn't the meta defining spell there. Now I don't know too much about post darkmoor metas, but I can't imagine efreet being meta defining in a meta with those shad hits and I know it got nerfed around when those got nerfed, so I could be wrong and it could've been meta defining there but I highly doubt it.
I have to disagree with sharpen blade, by the time you get it its already useless, you already have at least 2 different 0 pip blades to stack plus an aura, and when you're fighting a boss you want to double feint, not to mention the backdraft synergy, potent trap wins here imo Edit: Useless as in more like unnecessarily clogging up the deck
They need to stop nerfing stuff in pve just to balance pvp which is a much smaller community. It just punishes solo and group pvers who just want to quest
@CaseOhClippies I never used it on my fire yet. I mostly used my max spellement Helephant. It is also sad because my max spellement artorious hits harder. Efreet is way cooler but it is what it is.
