The civilians are not surprised by the dragons anymore because they have literally seen weirder stuff every season. And ninjas and superheroes aren’t new to them and they know they exist since they are not the first
The shows been going for 10+ years at this point, there’s tons of world building, action and the majority of what you saw in the out of context was the comedy of the show. I grew up with it’s one of my favorite shows to this day. I highly recommend watching it, it’s worth it.
As a huge Ninjago fan you should definitely watch the whole show! It keeps getting better as you watch plus I have learned so many good life seasons from this show! And with Dragons Rising they are starting a whole new story that is spreading across multiple seasons and they have no plan on stopping anytime soon!
I have something cool to add hehe. so at 18:29, Lloyd is resisting and dodging Garmadon's attacks without fighting back (and this is season 8). In season 3, Garmadon (who at the time was really good and also looked human) was teaching martial arts, and he was literally the one who taught Lloyd how to defeat an opponent without throwing a single blow (so just dodging and resisting). and now Lloyd is using those same tactics that Garmadon taught against him!
I have always noticed that too and I am so sad that there wasn't any moment like Lloyd remembering the moment when his own father thought that in season 3
Hunted had the BEST ending. A lovely reunion, Lloyd gets his powers back, great fight scene, and set up for March Of The Oni. PLEASE PLEASE watch the rest of the show!!!
The title of the show is “ninjago” because they live in ninjago. They say “ninja go” to exemplify the play on words behind the show as a whole and because it’s a verb not a noun.
As a NinjaNerd, the citizens aren’t confused at the dragons because it’s normal for them. Before this they’ve had several serpent invasions and once a ghost one. Master Wu was affected by a Time Blade (a weapon in a previous season) so he was aging backwards. Garmadon is Lloyd’s father and Wu’s brother. The ninja coming out of the portal was them coming back from another realm. They were marooned in a Dragon Realm which is why they have dragons. The reason the city is almost destroyed is because they had no one to stop the villains while they were gone.
I'm autisic and my special interest is Ninjago (has been since I was young lmao) so here you go, Garmadon and Wu are brothers, sons of the First Spinjitzu Master, man who created the whole of Ninjago. Lloyd is G's son, but they've met before and faught A LOT. So, no that isn't the first time he's met his father. In an earlier season Wu got turned into a baby, then quickly grew up which is why at the end he's back to himself. No one in Ninjago is surprised by anything anymore, they've been though HELL and have just learnt to live with it lmao. I mean at one point in this ep, Jay (the blue ninja) literally questions why anyone stays in the city. Also, Darreth (the brown ninja) isn't an actual ninja, just a big fan and friend. So yeah he's extemely clumsy. Everyone know's the ninjas' identities, so when Lloyd took off his mask it didn't mean much. Ninjago, while extemely funny, has SO much going into it. It's a big show, but I would so recommend it!! I could go on forever but I won't haha, and anyway loved the video and hope you do more on the show!!!
Me too! Autistic, and one of my special interests. I LOVE this show. I'm a mother, and I don't even care that it's 'for kids'. My kids like it as well lol.
I was you a couple months ago. I watched ONE EPISODE of ninjago with a friend, and I have now seen every episode. It was a very fascinating experience to hyper focus on a Lego tv show
7:35 they have acctually seen that every day, 8 seasons of watching ninjas fight weird villains would do that to you. And dragons were there day since day one too
Many people expect Ninjago to be a shallow, comedic, disposable, and, dare I say, childish show since it's about colorful Lego Ninja. But what surprised you and many others (and what I adore about Ninjago) is that takes itself 100% seriously. Ninjago could have been a commercial for toys and yes, a clear goal is indeed to sell toys. But you can tell the primary goal of Ninjago is to tell an amazing story. Nothing about Ninjago feels like a cheap or superficial toy commercial, it gets so raw and real with its characters and world and it always incredibly emotional. You don't get that level of depth unless the creators really cared about not selling toys, but creating a genuine quality story. Ninjago doesn't see itself as a cartoon meant to sell toys, it sees itself as a show with real characters and an expansive and vibrant world. The narratives are so strong if this were an anime or an action adventure cartoon without Lego, the experience would be almost the same. That tells me essence of Ninjago isn't superficial, it is entirely based on substance. If you've never seen Ninjago, give it a chance. It really is a show that's sincere in what it's trying to convey to its audience. It never hides behind a filter, never pulls punches, and never sees itself as a show meant to sell toys and that's why it's surprising to so many viewers. They expect a quick and easy cash grab but Ninjago is anything but. It's an honest to God quality animated show. It's a show that, in my opinion, in one of the best animated shows ever made. It takes itself seriously and as a result, the viewer can't help but take it seriously as well.
I 100% agree with everything you just said. I don't think I could put it any better. It's awesome to see other Ninjago fans appreciating how amazing this show is.
Things I need to see Mathew react to: •Ever After High: Epic Winter •Lego Monkie Kid’s highest rated episode (or the 9th episode of Season 2 specifically) •Any episode from Lego Ninjago: Dragons Rising (it’s a good entry point to the series since it’s the latest reboot and only has one and a half seasons out so far. Unless you WANT to watch all 15 seasons of the original series idk)
"ninjas, dragon riders, and fckin elvis. lego elvis" absolutely sent me also, "don't let them destroy you, let ME destroy you" is pretty accurate to even early show garmadon too, thinking about the serpentine and the pirates and such haha
Also fun fact. The band that sung outside the palace during the 2nd final scene. Is the Lego version of "The Fold". Singing the weekend whip. Which is the band that composes each season's new intro music, and their remakes
Ninjago and Lego Monkie Kid are two top tier lego shows that I think you should watch all the way through (on or off camera, idc which, I just think you should experience them)
Your point about not minding spoilers for shows you dont plan on watching is actually so valid. Honestly, that's how i got into quite a few shows. Randomly seeing an interesting (and most likely full of spoilers) bit and wanting to know how we got there. It's also how I catch up with shows i dont plan on watching, because why would i need to look out for spoilers? Fun fact about the party scene at the end the people performing the song (the weekend whip) were based of the real band that sing it called the fold. The fold also has remixed the weekend whip for season when it's not the opening song.

I literally started watching Ninjago for the first time somewhere last year. I am currently on Dragons Rising, and I have to say, this show did NOT disappoint! It's really fun and cool!
YES! You absolutely need to watch all of Ninjago, that's what I did and it's just peak. The newest season that came out this year is really really good so the show is still going strong!
explodes you with my mind oh my god everyone these days is reacting to ninjago and i am so happy about it like my hyperfixation for over 10 years is being discovered by so many god this is awesome good luck with the full series if you decide to watch it
a lot of people have that impression of ninjago that it's just a comedy, superficial toy ad- and at times it can be. but the lore and worldbuilding does get pretty deep, and the characters are extremely loveable and you will get attached to them and their storylines. it has a lot of heart to it and some really good messages about family, found family, identity / finding yourself, trauma, and more. i've been a fan since it first started airing and it's still my comfort show as an adult :) i do recommend you give it a whirl!
If Ninjago was a well animated anime with good graphics and visuals, it would probably be more respected. Ninjago is serious and is packed with lore, Ninjago is a lego show, but that doesn't mean you don't have to take it seriously.
Hunted is the story arc of season 9. Each season has their own name that fits the theme of the story arc. Tournament of Elements, Possession, Crystalized, Skybound, Seabound, Hunted, etc. All of it has a meaning.
Lloyd is just named to sound like his father. His dad- Lord Garmadon. His son- Lloyd Garmadon. It's just a silly play on words. But yeah, otherwise rather out of place in a series based mostly on Japanese mythology lol. Most of the characters are meant to be East Asian. Garmadon doesn't start out evil, and he's really not, I mean, he didn't choose to be, he was corrupted....you have to watch from the beginning lol. It's a long, complicated, and sad back story. Lots of history, and yes, lots of world building. It definitely has lots of humour, and that makes the show even more endearing, but it's also very deep, and serious. Ninjago is a very underrated show for those who don't know how awesome it is. They all have their own elemental powers, (think Avatar the Last Airbender), and they can 'lose' them, and gain them back.
7:35 well they indeed have. Trust me pal, they are used to the city being attacked since day one, and *it's not* the first time the city is gonna be destroyed by a giant monster ( just another day in Ninjago) 10:22 That's Master Wu for ya. He obviously doesn't know how to defeat Garmadon but he isn't gonna act in front of his nephew like he knows, reason why he said that.
YAYAYAYYY FINALLY MORE NINJAGO!! I love seeing peoples reactions to a show I like, and it would be so freaking awesome to see more episode reactions. Unfortunately, I also know there are a freaking TON of episodes. Im most looking forward to seeing the reaction to the pun that is Lloyds name lol

technically this isnt the highest rated episode, since s1-10 and s11-15 are listed separately on imdb, listed as "Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitzu" and "Ninjago" respectively (probably because they had a studio change and netflix lists them seperately), and the s14 finale has a higher rating but this is still a really good episode 💪💪💪 ps: would love for you to watch more of the show 🙏 it has its low points but when its high its HIGH

everyone these days is reacting to ninjago and i am so happy about it
like my hyperfixation for over 10 years is being discovered by so many
god this is awesome
good luck with the full series if you decide to watch it
a lot of people have that impression of ninjago that it's just a comedy, superficial toy ad- and at times it can be. but the lore and worldbuilding does get pretty deep, and the characters are extremely loveable and you will get attached to them and their storylines. it has a lot of heart to it and some really good messages about family, found family, identity / finding yourself, trauma, and more. i've been a fan since it first started airing and it's still my comfort show as an adult :) i do recommend you give it a whirl!
21:34 Well, if the city is gone, there's not "nothing". When they came, *nothing* was left
Mathew should totally react to one of those 8 mins of pure garmaddon being sassy
The song was the Ninjago theme song/intro song (It's altered for every season)
It was written + sung by The Fold :3
22:25 this is literally their thought process at this point
it's funny when I have seen the whole show like 200 times and you watching it without like any context is just hilarious.
The lego ahows are always so good, im personally a lego monkie kid fan but they're so fun
Dude all I'm saying is that if you like Ninjago you will ADORE Lego Monkie Kid
lego monkie kid is SOOOO GOOD
I SECOND THIS
Hopefully the story can carry season 5 after the animation change
Also I agree he’d love lmk
I WAS JUST THINKING THAT
PLEAES PLEASE PLEASE @MathewMcKenna
7:14 It’s season 9 let’s remember this is like the 5th time the ninja have had dragons
This is literally one of the ONLY Season 9 episodes without Harumi I can’t 😩
Well, she died two episodes before the finally (and she definitly wasn't brought back)
I mean good, she is really annoying tbh
@@nightlunastarshe should've been brought back from the departed realm cuz of the merge. Crystalized ruined everything.
Just wait until he sees the public's reaction to the giant fire snakes
A bit of a shame that Sanders Sides didn't win but I suppose this will work.
Oh my god. I’ve watched this show for 8 years and you just made me realize the title is Ninja and Lego combined. Ninja-Legos. Ninjago. Oh. My. God.
WELCOME TO NINJAGO!!! You're never leaving.
"They're very casual about these dragons". That is because every single season features at least a few dragons LOLLL
omg yes, PLEASE watch more of this show, there’s a lot to it but it’s so good
They have seen dragons before. And the city is under attack like every week
7:35 well they indeed have. Trust me pal, they are used to the city being attacked since day one, and *it's not* the first time the city is gonna be destroyed by a giant monster ( just another day in Ninjago)
10:22 That's Master Wu for ya. He obviously doesn't know how to defeat Garmadon but he isn't gonna act in front of his nephew like he knows, reason why he said that.
Matthew this was an awesome reaction!
You should react to all the intros!
5:55 yep. Kai and Nya, Jay and Cole, Zane. Wu, Garmadon, Misako, Lloyd. Ninjago has a pretty random mix of Asian sounding and English sounding names
I genuinely hate that he watched these massive fucking spoiler episodes and out of context montages instead of JUST WATCHING THE DAMN SHOW ALREADY GOD😭
just realized that it's kinda weird that ninjago names their seasons
YOU SHOULD WATCH NINJAGO NOWW
I love this show and I would literally squeal if you watched the old episodes too. It has a really special place in my heart.
Honestly surprised it’s not one of the Son’s of Garmadon episodes that’s the highest episodes but I’m also SO happy because I also love Hunted and this episode ❤❤
technically this isnt the highest rated episode, since s1-10 and s11-15 are listed separately on imdb, listed as "Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitzu" and "Ninjago" respectively (probably because they had a studio change and netflix lists them seperately), and the s14 finale has a higher rating but this is still a really good episode 💪💪💪
ps: would love for you to watch more of the show 🙏 it has its low points but when its high its HIGH
YES OMG I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED YOU TO REACT TO MORE NINJAGO AND IM SO GLAD
For those who are wondering why the city folk are more casual about the dragons and city attack... They're used to it.
4:04 close! 😂 He got turned into a baby & has been aging up throughout “Hunted”
PLEASE watch s8 ep9 "true potential", its also one of the best eps and gives some heartbreaking context for this
