Muslim and Islam aren't interchangeable. They mean different things. Islam was preached by all the prophets, but it was "completed" by the prophet Muhammad, and thereof the Muslims were after Islam was complete. Having said that, all the prophets had "Fitrah"( although, I can't confirm a reference for this ) but this is my perception of it.
