Evolution of the Vertebrates

Vertebrates are among the most recognizable organisms of the animal kingdom. More than 62,000 vertebrate species have been identified. The first vertebrates acquired more than just spinal chords running down their back during the Cambrian period. They also evolved eyes, complex brains, and skeletons.
