I could feel my heart grow with pride watching this! This is how Aussie sports should be! Uniting us all as ONE rather than using politics to divide us, as we see now. :-(
I am a 30 year old from Ethiopia who came to Australia at 2 years old. I went to primary school in Lakemba which in those days wasn’t as Islamic as it is today and had a lot of Greeks and Italians. I remember all students proudly learning this song and the National Anthem and knowing it off by heart. In a single generation the national anthem and Aussie patriotism is no longer taught in schools. What on Earth happened to this great country and why is being proud of Australia taboo now?
I see exactly what you mean, I’d honestly join a movement to have our government replaced if that’s what it took to fix things, even if that movement was more of an armed rebellion, or international peaceful protests. However it’s done this should be made out anthem, Australian history and patriotism should be taught above the history and cultures of any other place, our government should have a spine and the same dream of an ever improving and ambitious Australia as the people, we should be more independent of other nations and put work into fixing more of the damage our species has done on the continent for the sake of far off generations. Hopefully an Australia is formed that does better for people and country then it ever did in the past, even if such a thing is a yet another generation from becoming a reality
National pride in the West whether about their history or culture is viewed as something only lowbrow racists, usually the crude lower and working classes have. It's uncouth and cringey, there's nothing but racism, sexism, imperialism, colonialism, bigotry, oppression in the nations past that guilt ridden self punishment and the want to erase, forget, move on from their own history and culture into a new, advertising friendly, global metropolitan-citizen style of culture is pushed. It's the culture of the elites in politics, media, banking, big business, wall Street etc, it's what they were taught in college and university and now they're in the real world, or those already in the real world adopted the new hip cool worldview
2:24 Normie Rowe flubbing his lines like a dingbat, giving the game away that everyone is miming, and getting a death stare from John Farnham is surely one of Australian sports finest moments
Thank you for this awesome rendition by so many stars. I may be from Illinois in the USA, but remember my mom singing this song to me when I was a child. Loved the song years ago and even more today.

Hey Hey it's Saturday was on the telly, John Howard was prime minister, the footy was rough tough and great to watch and we all truly believed Australia was the best country in the world. What an era in Australian history that was.
There's nothing more patriotic a feeling for an Aussie than to see Slim Dusty and Barry Mackenzie on stage singing Waltzing Matilda. Unless I would get to see Slim Dusty, Barry Mackenzie and Sir Les Patterson singing Waltzing Matilda.
When I see this incredible arrray of Australian talent I just think why do they always get overseas big names to sing every year at this great Australian event nowadays
Can you help us with our own government first, the population and leadership of Australia is nothing of its former self, if support for a remodelled government was possible it would be appreciated, then setting eyes on standing up to China proudly with anyone internationally who would join us
The American Marines are there and stand ready to defend !!! I was one and still stand ready at 70 . Besides , I have a bit of a selfish reason. My so and grandson are there .
I fell in love the first time I heard this song. Never have I been to Australia, but I cry when I hear Waltzing Matilda and see proud Australians. The US doesn't have a song like that.
Calm down, not everyone’s gonna get a solo part, it’s not just the one aboriginal, stop searching for racism were there isn’t any and target the places where it can legitimately be found please
I thought the same thing, but considering this performance, I completely understand why she didn't get a solo.. ruclips.net/video/jhPaUQXDsew/видео.html
2:25 -- Slim Dusty almost gave it away, with his voice strangely not matching his mouth movements, but this fool totally gave the game away by forgetting the words - he gave away that all the vocals are pre-recorded.
I love how the crowd started to react as soon as Slim Dusty's vocal came on. An absolute icon!
From Britain A Fully Roger That. DUSTY is a legend, he is a Father of Australia xx
Love How the Crowd cheerd and Clapped When John Farnham Sang Absolutely an Australian Icon Aswell
@J G And your point being? This is about the music.
I could feel my heart grow with pride watching this! This is how Aussie sports should be! Uniting us all as ONE rather than using politics to divide us, as we see now. :-(
Among us
@JG-bw6lucompletely irrelevant and also you are comparing 4 states in a country to 240 countries. Now shut up.

Cahir allen was in faugheen 24? Met Queensland family!!Guinness??
What a world-class performance. Makes me very proud to be an Australian.
I always thought this should be the Australian national anthem. It sums up the national attitude. Great people.
Gee, Pauline Hanson really could sing back in the day
Hahahahaha
Oh boy,what a post. Lol.
😂😂😂
You had me believe it was really her for the last 3 year
@@mcdonaldlover9679 LOL!
I was in the children’s choir who sang as part this 100 season’s of AFL celebration. Best experience of my life ❤
I remember learning this in primary school and still remember it word for word, but can't remember the teachers name that taught us the lyrics.
It’s also must more memorable and emotional and patriotic feeling then the anthem
🤣
@J G why? Just why.. I’m a fan of soccer but it’s just not the right video dip shit
Me too I learned it very young and I am in my sixties now. Anytime I hear it, it brings back fond memories.
@J G The soccer is shit. The real ball is egg shaped (except in the gaelic football)!
This is an awesome rendition of the song.
Through Tears I enjoy this from deepest heart

They Would probably be crying rn when there watching this when they were young
Lindsay Field and Lisa Edwards. Two of Australia’s most underrated voices.
Watching slim through this whole performance just showed how passionate he was for music. Uppa slim, True australian icon🤙
Gosh. What a time. When the AFL grand final was ambitious.
Someone should start a petition to make this our national anthem
This is peak civilisation. Goosebumps galore
Fantastic!!!
I wish Americans loved anything as much as Australians love this song
THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY 100% SPOT ON....❤️
I was taught this song at primary school in the UK. I'm 42 now and find myself singing it to my dog Matilda
This was brilliant. Daryl and Farnsie 😍
I was born in Adelaide south Australia and I ❤ Australia, but alive in Italy city Trieste
Should be the national anthem!
True. But for now the “unofficial” national anthem.🎼🇦🇺
I don't remember how I learned this song! I live in Portugal and never been in Australia. But that is quite a song!
When I see this incredible arrray of Australian talent I just think why do they always get overseas big names to sing every year at this great Australian event nowadays
Didn't realise Dazza could sing so well.
Although I would've loved to see slim sing the whole song acoustic👌
Did they lead the National Anthem with it as well?
What are the musical backgrounds (musical genre) of the various performers?
❤😂🎉😊😅🎉australia i love You❤
Que guapo, que bonito
My Gosh I'm jealous of anyone who got to witness this! I wasn't even thought of😅
OY OY OY OY !!
We must help the Austrians with their fight with the Chinese.
Can you help us with our own government first, the population and leadership of Australia is nothing of its former self, if support for a remodelled government was possible it would be appreciated, then setting eyes on standing up to China proudly with anyone internationally who would join us

Miss spelled Australia.
I was in the Marine Reserves from 1963 to 1968. Boot camp changed my life for the better.
Wow! Slim Dusty.
Normie Rowe getting a little tongue tied..... perhaps one too many pre performance sherbets??
What the fuck are the odds anyone is still watching this like 4 years after upload lmaoo
It was pre recorded, it's hard to get good acoustics in a stadium live
Normy didn't too tongue tied with his fists, fukin legend.
16/05/1958 the ma bird
Who's Waltzing Matilda?
gee i hope they turned maroochey barambah's microphone off
Liam
When people of all races could sing the same song of their country.
Maroochy Barambah redeems herself from 'that' 1993 faux pas
Normie Rowe. Say no more
I fell in love the first time I heard this song. Never have I been to Australia, but I cry when I hear Waltzing Matilda and see proud Australians. The US doesn't have a song like that.
Pauline Hansons a good singer
The 16 tonnes of gold, 🇦🇺's entire reserve was NOT John Howards to sell to thech
to the chinese at $205AUD/ounce
Kangas won the grand final, that's all I care about, go Roos
😂 but the song is great
@@abraham2174 yes, it's awesome, I completely agree, I just love waltzing matilda
Plz make cardi b version
She's American. So its very unlikely for her to sing/rap to this song.
@Gexxyfez oh.
Darryl somers doesn’t belong up there with these great singers
He's still got a big voice
Daryl Sommers 🤢
How inappropriate but typically colonial that the aboriginal lady opera singer didn’t get a solo
Calm down, not everyone’s gonna get a solo part, it’s not just the one aboriginal, stop searching for racism were there isn’t any and target the places where it can legitimately be found please

I am not an Aussi, but this is by far the worst Mathilda I've ever heard and seen.
No need to tell us bro, we could tell you’re not Aussie
Racism ain't cute
