Certainly heroes. Just don't ever look to far into that...as ethically sourced remains are often difficult to come by. An amazing and possibly tragic exhibit called "Bodies In Motion" and others like it have dark histories. They do, however, provide an amazing educational experience to thousands of students and professionals for (likely) hundreds of years! Due to the demand and rarity of body donation, many educational remains are sourced from a range of places like individuals who can not be identified after an accident to executed prisoners. Sad fun fact.
Too much ego! If he really had a high number of men requesting testosterone, he’ll need to show research such as men who asked for testosterone prior to the video and the number of men who asked after the video. Then out of those numbers you’ll have to specifically ask whether watching this channel was a contributing factor. Which I guarantee did not happen… that research wasn’t conducted. I guarantee you one guy probably said “I saw this video on RUclips…” and he didn’t want to do the paperwork for it and was stressed on the E.R. Floor and that one case caused him so much anguish he needed a scapegoat. I’m sure he was like “this is an ER room! For emergencies and this one guy comes in asking for testosterone because of this RUclips video”. Guarantee

I work at a generally inundated ER in Boston and, although we get a lot of visits from patients who would be better served by Urgent Care or Outpatient treatment, I’ve never seen anyone come in with emergent low testosterone as the reason for their visit.
How many of them had insurance though? Not every urgent care will see someone that doesn’t have insurance. The ER can’t turn people away because they’re not insured.
That ER doctor who sent the email was just a grumpy hater that thinks everything on the internet is bad. At worst he had a couple people ask if whatever they have might be linked to testosterone levels because they saw a video talking about it. Also, that's not the only channel to discuss this matter. It's actually a pretty trendy subject. He seems to project everything he heard online about the subject on that one channel (because there is a lot of misinformation crap out there, put on by other people).
I appreciate your tone, positivity, and the thorough ways that you present the content here. Your response to the feedback from the "Boston ED physician" at the end was tasteful and not off-putting. I appreciated this video, per usual, Jonathan.
I had to cease TRT due to elevated liver enzymes. My blood labs returned to ‘normal’ within 90 days. My libido is non existent but my insides are safer.
I remember reading about HRT treatment for menopausal women causing very high rates of cancer? I was hoping the doc would talk about it, but I looked it up and yes a womans cancer risk goes up with HRT. Its not recommended at all for women who have had any kind of cancer. And not recommended to take for long as it increases risks of dementia. If these drugs are so risky for the right sex, how could they possibly be safe for people with the wrong sex?
Regarding the ER doc concerned about young guys presenting at the ER with low testosterone concerns. Lots of young people, especially with lower incomes do not have a GP nor do the understand how medical services are provided. If as youngsters they where taken to the ER for every condition they don’t understand that a “doc in a box” let alone a GP is an appropriate more cost effective option. Is there some way we could educate people as to the appropriate point of service? Love your videos!
A lot of men online have been so sensitive about every little thing effecting their testosterone lately. Can’t eat this, gotta do this or that workout. Meanwhile women have been taking hormonal birth control for like, what, 80 years now! I don’t hear them complaining nearly as much as we do.
I don't care much about the heart attack hormone that manipulates my mind. This is a great video! I’d love to see one about the changes and effects of both types of HRT, commonly used by transgender individuals to gain bodily changes , and how these hormones affect people not predisposed to making them in that amount.
Cool idea, there's more than two types of hrt tho. You're probably thinking of Testosterone for transmasculine and Estrogen for transfeminine people, but those aren't the only ones, just the most common ones.
Awesome video, especially for males. Such a mighty hormone! Male or female, both parties should understand their hormones.PS: Very nice addition to answer critique, it is very common and also very interesting to hear you respond.
Thank you for this! I would love to hear how estrogen affects women during perimenopause and what happens after menopause IF estrogen is not supplemented. I wish someone would’ve warned me about perimenopause and menopause. Great video!
As a veterinary student, I suggest that one of the team from the institute start a channel for veterinarians, because I really enjoyed one of the videos of the male genital system.
I started my testosterone therapy about 2 years ago. I have gone onto a 90% carnivore diet and have lost 75 lbs. My energy is awesome, I'm getting jacked in the gym like I was 25 again. Even my competitiveness is strong and I love showing the under 30s how to do it. Then reality settles in when I get home and I have to collapse for a 2 hour nap!!!

We appreciate you explaining the response to the ER doctor that had his own criticism to say. It we handled well by Jonathan and please keep doing what your doing :) these IOA videos are educational and backed by science and statistics.
Can we please talk about the importance of estrogen in men too? I have never felt worse than while on anastrozole on trt (.2cc test eod, 23mg clomiphene citrate ed, and .5 mg anastrozole on eo shot day.) Anastrozole tanked me estrogen and my joints felt like crap, my skin was bad flaky and covered in acne, my liver enzymes were high, I had horrible ed, and my libido was non-existent. I think this stuff is over prescribed as like part of the trt "package."
Could you please also cover the often marginalised topic of female testosterone hypersensitivity which is so often under diagnosed and causes such devastating conditions as alopecia and acura acne. Doing so will bring an answer to so many sufferers struggling to find a solution to their misery.
As a transman who started HRT at 31 years old, its been very interesting to experience both hormonal puberties. Im almost 34 now and pass 98% of the time. Testosterone is an amazing hormone and it definitely saved my life. I love how informative all of your videos are. Thanks for all you do! ✌️🖤🏳️⚧️
I was a desk worker retrained 5 years ago as a PT (no where near level of a doctor) but ur videos on the CV system, muscles, all that jazz and how it actually works provides me MORE gifted detail than my actual qualification. Honestly I can’t thank u enough for bringing this level of knowledge and detail to a profession that in most places doesn’t get that detail unless u can afford uni and do sports science. I’ve recommended u to clients and collegues because it’s so enlightening. Also makes us humble- we whinge and complain when we can’t deadlift our body weight on a bar but ur channel has highlighted how many body processes and body CELLS and hormones and systems need to be functioning perfectly enough for us to even try. Having the hissy fit is a gift. So is the channel. Please keep it up :) ❤ Love, UK PT 🇬🇧
This channel has revolutionized how I see and understand my body! I’m not necessarily against answering what other people say but would suggest maybe doing a section dedicated to that! The overall tone of your videos is awesome, very light and clear and that’s one of the things I like the most but maybe showing a side a bit more spicy when we answer can be super interesting if done in the “right place” (note that I don’t think this was the wrong one, but if I want to see you answer I’d like you to do it as free and completely honest as possible 😅) thanks for all you’ve shared so far!
It will be great if you can also cover testosterone with depression and anxiety. Most psychists never check the T level of the patients, just know how to prescribe SSRI. In fact, lots of depression and anxiety can be solved with endocrine therapy.
I've been on it for 2 years now and hasn't done much for me. I'm jealous of all the people having all these great life-changing effects. The first 6 months I definitely had more energy and motivation at work, but that's it
@@JohnQPublic345 Yes, the creams will cause hair loss much quicker, because they skyrocket DHT. I lost a ton of hair the first month I tried creams, but I switched to injections, which work much better, but you won't lose the hair nearly as bad. For me, I stopped losing hair completely on injections
I love anything you guys do on this channel, I found how you addressed the idea of future criticism responses very respectable, I'd say if you do plan on doing it make it a separate series from the main stuff, like a compilation of odd responses you guys get on videos
My guy.... If someone decides to "throw a little shade" or comment on your VERY informative videos...... then by all means, reply in whatever fashion you so choose. It's YOUR channel, YOUR content, and YOUR perogative. Great video!! 💪
We have learned to receive useful but free information from everyone. No one knows that when we were busy with pleasure or earning, you read some books and gave up the pleasures of youth to reach this stage. I personally appreciate you for spending your life in the dissecting room smelling of phenol and formalin while I received my medical degree in medical college smelling of cologne from the pictures in the book.
I remember that you said before that knee pains might come from weak muscles surrounding knees. When I feel something strange on my knees, I use a foam roller a little longer than normal on quads, hamstrings, IT bands, calves, and so on. It usually solves the "strange" feeling of my knees. Your suggestions, opinions and explanation of biomechanics are very useful.
Personally I like the idea of responding to criticisms, whether it’s valid or just based in ignorance. It adds just a little bit more information that someone might be curious about
You are doing a great job, keep up the great work. Your response was also great as always your videos are integrity driven and information well researched.
No problem at all in responding to issues that have arisen from a video. I love your channel, your content and delivery style. As a person whose received an orchidectomy (left testicle removal due to cancer) I've no idea what my testosterone levels are, but I'm 53, it happened in 2010, and everything both works and a high sex drive exists. I've a shaved head as hairloss developed in my late 40s, so testosterone videos are interesting. If a test were offered, I'd happily do it out of curiosity, but not about to go to a doctor and request one unnecessarily.
I'm only commenting about this because you asked for feedback: I don't think this particular response was necessary because the first point was already addressed in the other video and the second point was simply stupid as no one goes to the ER for low testosterone. However, if you got an email or comment that was thought provoking or legitimate and you wanted to share a response, I'd find that interesting unlike this response. I learn SOOOO much from your videos and I really appreciate you taking the time to create them! Great work!!!
Your response to the doctor email wasn’t important to your common viewer. It didn’t really add any important information to your video or make any changes to your previous video. Your videos are helpful, keep up the good work!
I do appreciate that you are willing and able to speak so openly about so many "not discussed" subjects that I am rather surprised and yet not surprised that you have been questioned on your discussion. Let's be honest here. Men are generally rather concerned and protective of their maleness. The young males most particularly. I do believe that the over-worked ER doctor needs to maybe learn to be more empathic with both sexes when it comes to the delicate discussion of hormone levels and what to be aware of, as you have discussed with your audiences on several videos. Thank you for your honesty and humour on what can be a delicate subject at times.
You’re doing a great job Jonathan I think this doctor from Boston is jealous of your success on you tube especially since you are very young and inteligent at the same time. So don’t worry about him keep making more videos!!!! I love to watch your channel and at the same time I learn a lot from it.
It's called clapping back and YES you can clapback on people that email you ridiculous stuff like that when you clearly pointed it out. It may not be the best for the channel to do this to everyone that messages you b/c of the vast internet trolls, but here and there to emphasize and clarify even further a medical point is fine
Most men today have suboptimal levels of testosterone - a lot less than their fathers or grandfathers had just 30-50 years ago. There are various reasons for this. One factor that is oftentimes neglected is endocrine disruptors in our environment (i.e., xenoestrogens, BPA, phthalates, triclosan, etc.), phytoestrogens in food (i.e., soy, which is in almost all processed foods), and hypothyroidism (subclinical or autoimmune Hashimoto's disease). To increase testosterone levels naturally and reduce chronic inflammation: • Get enough daily sunlight. • Supplement with vitamin D3 (especially during the winter or if you live in a northern climate). • Supplement with zinc picolinate (20 - 40 mg per day). • Supplement with magnesium glycinate or citrate. • Weight train regularly (3 - 5 times per week for 45 - 90 minutes). • Prioritize neuromuscular recovery, don't over-train. • Get adequate (quality) sleep. • Consume more healthy fats (monounsaturated and saturated fats from sources like grass-fed red meat, pasture-raised eggs, fatty fish, organic full-fat dairy, coconut fat, avocados, cocoa butter, certain nuts and seeds, etc.). • Increase your cholesterol intake through properly-sourced whole foods. Cholesterol is the building block of all steroid hormones, including testosterone. • Control stress. Do what you have to do to keep it under control (things like meditation, yoga, nature walks, relaxing music, massage/reflexology sessions, adaptogenic herbs, etc.). • Chronically elevated cortisol levels disrupt the HPT (hypothalamus-pituitary-thyroid) axis and deplete your body of the very resources it needs to produce androgens, including testosterone. • Eat enough quality calories (not all calories are the same), and avoid large caloric deficits. • Eat adequate amounts of each macronutrient (protein, carbs, fats). All of them are important in their own way and serve specific functions. Beneficial supplements: • Ashwagandha • Maca • Taurine • L-Carnitine (increases androgen receptor density) • Creatine • Tongkat ali • Fadogia agrestis • Black ginger • Pine pollen (contains natural androgens) • Boron (increases free testosterone) • DIM (natural anti-estrogen) "The Testosterone Advantage" by Timotheus Ray is a nice read on male health and hormone optimization.
Very informative video. I enjoy your feedback, we viewers need to know if a critique is legimate or not. Thanks for responding, it'll put others on notice that they had better be correct in their criticism or they'll be exposed. Cheers.
Biology is so counter intuitive. We spend so much energy make molecules to break proteins to get rew material to spend more energy building the same proteins
Good video as usual. If someone claiming expertise or credentials can't be authenticated, it would be best not to reply in your videos. However, I do think your reply was well tempered & factual...
Good presentation; but, incorrect about red blood cells. Testosterone directly potentiates the hematopoietic marrow, bypassing EPO. That is why exogenous testosterone has been a treatment of choice in Fanconi's anemia and aplastic anemia.
No. Don't discuss feedback. I expect you to be correct and factual. Use the feedback to make sure you stay on top of your game. You only chase helpful feedback away and invite bad feedback. Everyone looses. I definitely don't want to see it.
I like the responses. As a medical provider, too many of us don’t understand the concept of health optimization and being proactive about health. I wish I would have had my T checked back in my 20s or 30s as a basis of comparison so I would know how to best optimize now. Also, I’ve never in my 20+ years in the medical profession ever seen a patient present to the ED asking for a T test.
Im rushing to the ER to get my low testosterone tested! Just kidding. loved the clarification even though I didn't think it was necessary as I didn't take the same thing from the first video as the ER doctor did. Your channel is absolutely amazing. Thank you for showing us how the body works.

You are not a man.
@@NUFF-SAID33I don't recall them asking for your opinion.
@@OakenTome them!!? You mis pronouned it. Shame on you 🤦
Could you please talk about what happens in the body when practicing NoFap and semen retention?💪🏼
I haven't watched it myself, but saw a video titled The science behind ejaculation frequency
Please keep it up :) ❤
Love, UK PT 🇬🇧
This channel has revolutionized how I see and understand my body! I’m not necessarily against answering what other people say but would suggest maybe doing a section dedicated to that! The overall tone of your videos is awesome, very light and clear and that’s one of the things I like the most but maybe showing a side a bit more spicy when we answer can be super interesting if done in the “right place” (note that I don’t think this was the wrong one, but if I want to see you answer I’d like you to do it as free and completely honest as possible 😅) thanks for all you’ve shared so far!
Keep up the good work. 15:09 I show your videos to my A&P students constantly!! They are always full of useful information that teaches them!
Thank you!
The first 6 months I definitely had more energy and motivation at work, but that's it
how about hair loss / regain?
@@JohnQPublic345 Yes, the creams will cause hair loss much quicker, because they skyrocket DHT. I lost a ton of hair the first month I tried creams, but I switched to injections, which work much better, but you won't lose the hair nearly as bad. For me, I stopped losing hair completely on injections
I love anything you guys do on this channel, I found how you addressed the idea of future criticism responses very respectable, I'd say if you do plan on doing it make it a separate series from the main stuff, like a compilation of odd responses you guys get on videos
Thank you for the feedback!
I love the subject...very informative video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I concur!
Thank you for posting. Happy Easter
Same to you!
It's always important to get the facts out!! Keep up the great work!
My guy.... If someone decides to "throw a little shade" or comment on your VERY informative videos...... then by all means, reply in whatever fashion you so choose. It's YOUR channel, YOUR content, and YOUR perogative.
Great video!!
💪
Responding to criticism will be a great addition to your channel 👍
It adds just a little bit more information that someone might be curious about
Feedback is good, as long as it's backed up by science.
Love from India ❤🙏😇 sir !! Your Explanation is too the point, amazing experience 😊!
0:36 that estrogen looks wrong, if you count there are 19 carbons and it should be 18, that methyl group on the left shouldn't be here
Oh hey I was wondering if somebody else saw!
hey! good eye! @@Tom_Alfalfa_Male
I liked the response to the "doctor's" email. It was tastefully done but still direct.
That ER doc is a quack!
Usted😂
We did wonder if it was someone just trying to get a reaction out of us...

Agreed
Your response to the doctor email wasn’t important to your common viewer. It didn’t really add any important information to your video or make any changes to your previous video. Your videos are helpful, keep up the good work!
Thank you for the response and feedback!
Your response to the ER doc was good. I think it helps debunk what some people like him are thinking.
I'm no doctor but i enjoy watching this guy explain how the human body works and its interesting
1:05 Primary androgen; Testes
2:30 First puberty
3:40 Huge spike 10-13
5:00 Males vs females; osteoporosis
6:30 DHT; baldness
9:45 Increased metabolism and red blood cells
11:00 TRT
I do appreciate that you are willing and able to speak so openly about so many "not discussed" subjects that I am rather surprised and yet not surprised that you have been questioned on your discussion. Let's be honest here. Men are generally rather concerned and protective of their maleness. The young males most particularly. I do believe that the over-worked ER doctor needs to maybe learn to be more empathic with both sexes when it comes to the delicate discussion of hormone levels and what to be aware of, as you have discussed with your audiences on several videos. Thank you for your honesty and humour on what can be a delicate subject at times.
I love the idea of addressing feedback! It offers potentially needed clarity and knowledge 🤓
I think the feedback offers a valuable opportunity for clarification
Most men today have suboptimal levels of testosterone - a lot less than their fathers or grandfathers had just 30-50 years ago. There are various reasons for this. One factor that is oftentimes neglected is endocrine disruptors in our environment (i.e., xenoestrogens, BPA, phthalates, triclosan, etc.), phytoestrogens in food (i.e., soy, which is in almost all processed foods), and hypothyroidism (subclinical or autoimmune Hashimoto's disease).
To increase testosterone levels naturally and reduce chronic inflammation:
• Get enough daily sunlight.
Beneficial supplements:
• Ashwagandha
• Maca
• Taurine
• L-Carnitine (increases androgen receptor density)
• Creatine
• Tongkat ali
• Fadogia agrestis
• Black ginger
• Pine pollen (contains natural androgens)
• Boron (increases free testosterone)
• DIM (natural anti-estrogen)
"The Testosterone Advantage" by Timotheus Ray is a nice read on male health and hormone optimization.
Excellent post. Some of it is over my head, LOL. 😄
Yes, give them replies and reply to emails more frequently.
Thanks for the feedback!
Very informative video. I enjoy your feedback, we viewers need to know if a critique is legimate or not. Thanks for responding, it'll put others on notice that they had better be correct in their criticism or they'll be exposed. Cheers.
this pretty much
Biology is so counter intuitive.
Respond was ok...but don't over do it. I apriciate the direct explanation content you have been making so far.
Happy Easter everyone!
Igual mente🎉
Thank you for this video, so informative
Im rushing to the ER to get my low testosterone tested! Just kidding. loved the clarification even though I didn't think it was necessary as I didn't take the same thing from the first video as the ER doctor did. Your channel is absolutely amazing. Thank you for showing us how the body works.
Yeah 👍🏻 it's good if you counter all those criticism !!

Thank you! Our Spanish channel will definitely be posting this as well. Stay tuned!

Can you make a video about Beckers Nevus thnx
PLEASE, DO CONTINUE RESPONDING TO COMMENTS OF CONCERN AND CLARIFICATION. THANKS! AWESOME CONTENT AS ALWAYS!
Great channel, great content, great host. For me is a form of relief, from all the geopolitical and iconomic topics that i watch.
Some channels make a periodic dedicated video to answering questions and concerns, which if approached properly, can be a good video filling in gaps or things people may have simply missed
