I bunked off school to see the original Star Wars & immediately became a fan. I gave up on the franchise a while ago when tgey started prioritising woje over story - I couldn't even name the various films/series now.
And then you had Star Trek back in the day.. they also had non-binary, gay, trans,.. characters from all kinds of races with each their own cultures and struggles.. except they really had good story writing back then. They didn't push these ideas in the audiences face. The audience had to discover them in the storyline.
I remember that TNG episode with the androgynous trans race. And even though I personally don't get the lifestyle? I felt empathy for those characters and their issues within the story. Because the story was told with respect and not pandering and treating it like it's a kink that EVERYONE should just accept.

C-3PO is a droid, he doesn't have any relation to being a male or female, because he doesn't have gender. He doesn't need it, because he serves an important role for our heroes and to us as an audience. R2 literally is our storyteller, ask George Lucas. They are relatable because they are who the audience is, first Star Wars movie what is “the” very first characters. Oh right, the droids, they are our introduction to the world, they go around and we learn from them, and then we get to Luke who we follow with our guides and him getting to where he needs to be. The audience is telling Luke he must go off the planet, and let’s explore the galaxy and what it can offer. That is the entire point of the characters. They move the plot for the main character, we are watching through their eyes.

It dosen't actually add much to the show and is mostly just trying to both suggest that kids are smart enough to choose their own destiny but also letting them be anything but what their parents want them to be is bad as well. Also they have two moms that are shown more prominently but still in a way that can be cut for China if you change the dialog.

Not defending the show BUT in canon the Jedi were an oppressive force.
Forced conscription for infants who never got to see their family again, they talked about overthrowing the senate and taking over the republic directly (specifically mace windu, THIS is why mace didn't bring yoda to confront palpatine because mace WAS enacting a coup and yoda wouldnt go along with it).
The separatist werent the bad guys in the war they just wanted to govern themselves instead of the republic beurocracy (thousands of systems were involved who decided the republic was oppressive)
Mandalor refused to join the republic, valuing their independence and for this reason alone the Jedi attacked mandalore, bombed civilians, overthrew the government, forced the mandalorians to join the Republic and took their resources.
Not to mention they are a cult. The idea that this lifeless energy field has a light and dark side is rediculous, two cults with their perspectives literally killed anyone who disagreed with their ideology on the force.
The Jedi were not really a apolitical force for good until luke skywalkers new order, which really got retconned by Disney anyway
