    Great work, always nerve racking when drilling holes on the boat, but well worth it for this addition.

    Nice vlog Mike.
    The wind vane will certainly come into its own and make your trips more pleasant. I will be installing an self steering wind vane before I slip my boat.

      @Beorninki sheet to tiller is fine for most boats, however my columbia 27 has a fin keel and untill i get some experience i wont know how sheet to tiller will work on my boat.

      @ If boat is well balanced and not directional unstabil sheet to tiller-system works well. Most bluewater boats are directional quite stabil, exept race boats. My old amigo 23 and my Amigo 27 of my brother works under sheet to tiller very well, Iain Oughtred Grey seal and nowadays my hurley 22 not so well but it works.

    Oh, Mike! You are so lucky! Last year I tried to buy one via ebay. The next day it was gone. We have two boats with this at our Sailing Club , they are working really fine. Good luck with it. Peter

    Nice set up I was very happy with the performance crossing the Baltic to Poland. Simple and reliable and low tech.

      @MikeSantis  3 дня назад

      Yes very low tech, simple and efficient. Did you get to use it a lot? It needs at least around 10+ knots

    Congratulations! If it is a Windpilot, then it is the older model, which has a direct transmission from windvane to its own rudder. The newer models called Pacific have a pendulum rudder.

    • @MikeSantis

      Yes, the older models work with their own rudder. The newer ones with a pendulum rudder.

    Very interesting. I have no wind vane, I use sheet to tiller-system. Just two ropes (from jib to tiller), four blocks and sometimes some rubber tube. Cheap, cannot broke and easy to handle. But when I change my Hurley 22 to junk rig, I definitely need windvane. ps. Sheet to tiller-autopilot is good backup- system to every sailor. When your autopilot broken, you have an other option.
