Also you said you like reading the movie tidbits, so mine for this one is the MiB were a real thing in the 70s and 80s, at least in the U.S. They were reported as always traveling in pairs, wearing the suit and the shades, being really weird, really tall, very similar to each other in build and countenance, and possibly somewhat alien-like in appearance and behavior. They were believed to show up to talk to people who reported UFO sightings or encounters, having crazy-sounding excuses for whom they worked for and the purpose of their visit, and being nonviolent, though occasionally dropping warnings about what people should or shouldn't talk about. But they were more interested in the physical evidence. An atypical proportion of cases where they showed up involved "missing time" in the memories of a witness. While they claimed to be working for human intelligence and didn't overtly claim to be alien, it was widely believed in the ufology community that the MiB were either nonhuman or were working for nonhumans. Some believed they were hybrids; some said they were wearing "human suits" as disguises, and that this accounted for their bizarre appearance, behavior, and personality. They also had extensive knowledge of unknown or nonhuman technologies or methods, a fact they seemed uniquely unconcerned about letting witnesses know. IIRC, some of the earliest reports of MiB visits date to the 60s or possibly even the 50s.

Good one, Verowak! 😆 This is such a fun movie. Tommy Lee Jones has done a lot of good movies like The Fugitive, No Country For Old Men, Lincoln, Lonesome Dove, Under Siege, and many more. Thanks for sharing this one! 🙂
A car with rocket engines that can drive on the ceiling of a tunnel and what is the sound system? An 8-track player from the 70s cranking Elvis the Pelvis. K keeping it old school.
Great reaction. Thank you for being honest, it's the #1 quality any good reactor should have. Nobody loves every movie equally! It's fine that Will Smith's brand of 90s comedy doesn't really work for you. You still seemed to enjoy the movie considerably, contrary to some of the comments here. Please keep giving us your honest takes on the movies you watch!
It is hard to find a science fiction movie that is this funny. I consider this Will Smith's best movie. Tommy Lee Jones is a great actor. He is in the Coen brothers movie "No Country for Old Men" --a much darker movie than "Trie Grit".
The tragic events in Baltimore yesterday reminded me of a movie that might interest you at some point. "The Mothman Prophesies". It stars Richard Gere and Laura Linney and is based on a true event that happened in West Virginia in the 1960s. There were sighting of a strange creature just before a major bridge collapse. The movie is a combination of sci-fi, mystery and ghost story. I've been to the place where it took place. There is even a museum there. Like you don't have enough movie suggestions. LOL
I need that memory device for video games so i can replay them sooner. I will say younger me wouldnt have forgotten everything to join, older me would in a heartbeat, crazy how well this movie aged
Always loved the world they created in MIB, aliens in disguise everywhere, opens up so many avenues for show its amazing there hasn't been a proper non animated tv series.
Thank you. Tommy Lee Jones has been in 65 movies since 1970, and at the time of Men in Black's release was by far the bigger of the two stars, though Mr. Smith was already hugely popular. Mr. Jones had been in 17 movies during the preceding decade almost all of them as the star or co-star. Of the 65 movies he has appeared in a small selection are; "Coal Miner's Daughter" (1980), "The Fugitive" (1993), "The Client" (1994), "Cobb" (1994), "Volcano" (1997), "Under Siege" (1992), "Double Jeopardy" (1999), "The Hunted" (2003), "Man of the House" (2005), "No Country for Old Men" (2007), "In the Valley of Elah (2007), and "Ad Astra" (2019). Outside of movies Mr. Jones has appeared in 18 TV production, series, mini-series, and films, as well as on Broadway 4 times.
Oh, as a quick trivia tidbit, MIB was originally a comic series from Malibu Comics, a company bought by Marvel Comics (which is why in the credits Marvel is mentioned instead of Malibu). The first Image Comics were published in conjunction with the older pre-Marvel Malibu.
Thanks for the reaction. A couple of Tommy Lee Jones suggestions: The Fugitive, with Harrison Ford Lonesome Dove, a western miniseries. Also has Robert Duvall. Epic!
The Fugitive is incredible, one of the best and most memorable movies I've watched in the last few years. I'd also like to add Double Jeopardy to the list for Tommy Lee. And for Ford, Air Force One is pretty killer too. Not one of HIS best roles, per se, but the film is just fantastic, suspenseful R rated fun. It's a film that respects the maturity of its audience and didn't baby-up its content to get a lighter rating.
Two great movies with Tommy Lee Jones in them are; The Fugitive which also starred Harrison Ford and Volcano which also starred Anne Hache. Another very good movie that Stars Harrison Ford and Anne Hache is Six Days Seven Nights. You should do reactions to all three of them.
This series gets better further down the road. I apologize for missing any of your other reactions Verowak, my previous phone was stolen so I was missing in action until recently
Man, I feel so old, when ever I hear the Will Smith sing this song, I just get instant flash back early teens watching MTV and this was constantly on...
This director Barry Sonnenfeld started as a cinematographer for the Coen Brothers! He's got quite a resume. I love the first 3 MIBs. Josh Brolin plays a young K in part 3 and he does Tommy Lee Jones' mannerisms so well. I can totally see not being into Will Smith's comedy here. He's such a good actor too, it would have been interesting to see how this movie turned out if they had made J a little more straightforward even!
MIB 2 is worth a watch. One of my favorite Tommy lee jones movies is "volcano". Also check out "Man of the house" (make sure you watch the tommy lee jones one not the other one lol).
Thanks, Verowak! 👽 That little Greek Diner used to be called Florent, in the meatpacking district of Manhattan. I dined and filmed (a music video) there with a college friend... long before this movie. But it was quite thrilling to recognize a place I'd been... and ate at. 🍽
Ooh that's so neat!! Recognizing a place in a movie is so fun!! Huge bonus that you filmed a music video too, though I'm guessing it wasn't about aliens lol
@@VerowakReacts My friend used to joke about it. They'd say, "Philadelphia means 'city of brotherly love'... Arkadelphia means 'city of hillbilly love'." 😆

1 Edgar/Bug = Vincent D'onofrio played Gomer Pyle in "Full Metal Jacket". 2. Tommy Lee Jones' roommate in college was Al Gore. 3. Jones has claimed that he's never had a part that he didn't love and doesn't have a job. Just a hobby that pays very well.🤑😁 4. "Congratulations Reggie........It' a squid".🤣 5. Having a weapon with a recoil like that defeats the purpose of a human using it. 6. Tell me this wasn't a fun movie. I dare you.
15:25 You're exactly right, and this is one of my favorite parts of the movie: Egger the Bug trying to 'act casual.' 32:25 And K is lucky that Bugs don't chew.
The beaded car seat cover is an inside joke. All cab drivers in NY had them. They were kind of a fad then. They provide circulation, because NY cabs get hot. But a lot of people hate them, that's why it got thrown on the ground and that's why Will knew it was a cab.
For a Tommy Lee movie that show cases hs deadpan talents, check out The Fugitive a cat-and-mouse chase with Harrison Ford. Jones' performance was so good, he got his own spin-off movie out of it
It's very interesting to see people's reactions to different types of humor. Although Smith's style works for me, I understand where you're coming from as I don't usually like very broad or "wet" comedy. Gross out or body humor is usually a miss for me as well (body horror on the other hand is highly effective).
Humour hits differently for everyone yeah. Also thank you for being understanding and not raging that I didn't enjoy Will Smith's comedy lol I love deadpan and serious delivery of comedic lines
@@VerowakReactsNo worries, I totally get it! Yeah, I also appreciate deadpan and more "dry" humor as well. As a kid I was raised a few years in Toronto, so I watched a lot of Canadian and British shows that I think helped push my formative humor in that direction. It was an interesting switch coming back to the States and my new classmates had no idea of things like Danger Mouse and Count Duckula.
40:39 Rick Baker is an absolute legend in the world of Hollywood make up and effects thanks to his work on 'An American Werewolf in London' (1981). The Academy Award for best make up was created after the fantastic work on 'The Elephant Man' (1980) went unrecognised and Rick has the honour of being it's first recipient, one of SEVEN wins for him from 11 nominations. BTW you ought to watch 'An American Werewolf in London' this Haloween and 'The Elephant Man' is a stunning movie - but bring tissues.
Funny you say it would be nice to erase a movie and watch it again for the first time. That is one of the main reasons I enjoy reaction videos. I never get to see a movie again for the first time but I enjoy watching with people who are watching for the first time. It's the closest I can get to experiencing it again for the first time.
Besides this trilogy, other Will Smith movies to watch include Independence Day, The Bad Boys trilogy, I, Robot, Wild, Wild West, Enemy of the State, Ali, I Am Legend, Pursuit of Happiness, Concussion and King Richard. This film series was adapted from the comics of the same name and was also adapted into a short lived animated series

To find out what the other explanation is you have to watch Death Becomes Her. 😉 Tommy Lee Jones Movies: The Fugitive U.S. Marshalls Under Siege Double Jeopardy Volcano Man Of The House (2005) Small Soldiers (voice)
d'onofrio was a highlight! I get you with the will smith stuff, it was ok at best but only because tommy lee jones is an amazing straightman. He just goes a little overboard and feels oblivious even as an actual person.
35:57-36:05 A little slow to get there... But probably not as slow to get a pop culture reference as Steve Rogers. 35 year coma seemed very far fetched, but not as much a stretch as one might initially think. Annie Shapiro (1913-2003) was in a coma for 29 years after a massive stroke. She woke up in 1992 before waking up. Similarly, a woman in the United Arab Emirates (Munira Abdulla) spent 27 in a coma before waking up in 2018. Such occurrences are, obviously, extremely rare. But knowing a 29 year coma ended in 1992 (5 years before this movie) and that patient lived about 8 years after this movie, so she was alive and could have watched this movie even when it came out on home video, much less in theaters, if she'd chosen to, does indicate 35 years isn't "completely implausible"

Rush Hour 2 & 3
Shrek 4 & Puss in Boots 1 & 2
Dune 2
Home Alone 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6
The Shining 2 (aka Doctor Sleep)
Terminator 3, 4, 5 & 6 (& the Sarah Connor Chronicles TV show)
The Hunger Games 5
Fantastic Beasts 3
the original True Grit
I like how you were honest with your opinion (and negative view of Smith’s comedy) I’d rather get that than someone who is afraid to offend people with harmless opinions about a movie.
Honesty is the best policy. Especially online, we could do with more honesty imo
Awesome show there ma'am 👏 Tommy lee Jones and Vincent Donut Fritos is my favorite parts of this movie. Keep up the terrific work 👌 👏 👍 😀
Thank you! Those two really made the movie super enjoyable for me
@@VerowakReacts Right on
Tommy Lee Jones also starred in movies such as Volcano and Batman Forever. I recommend to Watch it.
He's in a Batman movie?! Oh boy, I need to get on the Batman wagon soon
the unforgettable film, to which they absolutely should not have made sequels, and one of the most beautiful actresses to walk this planet - Linda Fiorentino!
Verowak, your one smart cookie, after watching many of your reaction I find myself watching along just to find out how quickly you figure out the film, this was a record, you had the cat and the galaxy in a snap.
and of course the guy playing Jeebs is Tony Shelhoub who is also in Galaxy Quest as Fred (the guy who seemed tripped out all the time) and his best role by far is on the detective series 'Monk'....and get this the driver of the car with his wife in the back (Reg) is also in Galaxy Quests, he's the alien who is a fan of the character played by Alan Rickman (the alien who gets killed)
1 of my all time favorite movies
New sub
Men in Black 2 is amazing. I highly recommend. It's a lot of fun.
It features the girl from this one and it's a lot better
Tommy Lee Jones - "Double Jeopardy". It also stars Ashley Judd.
Good one, Verowak! 😆 This is such a fun movie. Tommy Lee Jones has done a lot of good movies like The Fugitive, No Country For Old Men, Lincoln, Lonesome Dove, Under Siege, and many more. Thanks for sharing this one! 🙂
One of my comfort movies! I like all of them! 3 is my favorite behind this one, thanks
It seems a lot of people keep mentioning the third one. I'm curious to see what all the hype is about!
Tommy Lee Jones had a lot of good movies in the 90's, like Double Jeopardy, The Hunted, and U. S. Marshalls.
Seems he has a lot for me to watch 🤩
It is hard to find a science fiction movie that is this funny. I consider this Will Smith's best movie. Tommy Lee Jones is a great actor. He is in the Coen brothers movie "No Country for Old Men" --a much darker movie than "Trie Grit".
I do love dark movies!!! 😍
Me too.@@VerowakReacts
The tragic events in Baltimore yesterday reminded me of a movie that might interest you at some point. "The Mothman Prophesies". It stars Richard Gere and Laura Linney and is based on a true event that happened in West Virginia in the 1960s. There were sighting of a strange creature just before a major bridge collapse. The movie is a combination of sci-fi, mystery and ghost story. I've been to the place where it took place. There is even a museum there. Like you don't have enough movie suggestions. LOL
😍
I need that memory device for video games so i can replay them sooner. I will say younger me wouldnt have forgotten everything to join, older me would in a heartbeat, crazy how well this movie aged
Video games would be really great to forget too!
I think he was trying to use the broken pencil as if it wasn't broke to hide that it was broken. He was embarrassed ✏️
See Tommy Lee Jones in his Oscar-winning role in "The Fugitive" (1993}
Another of Jones' gigs was as Al Gore's and Bob Somerby's roommate at Harvard.
Always loved the world they created in MIB, aliens in disguise everywhere, opens up so many avenues for show its amazing there hasn't been a proper non animated tv series.
After watching MIB 2 and 3 you could watch another movie with Tommy Lee
Under Siege
a 1992 American action thriller
He was an awesome villain in that one! First movie I ever saw him in and Gary Busy, mister horse teeth, LOL did a good job too!
Oh neat thanks! So that means Thor is actually also part of the MiB since it's the same universe
@@VerowakReactsPossibly! Although knowing Marvel, it's probably considered an alternate dimension.
Thanks for the reaction. A couple of Tommy Lee Jones suggestions:
The Fugitive, with Harrison Ford
Lonesome Dove, a western miniseries.
Verowak played marbles as a kid? I didn't realize she was born in 1887.
If only, then that could mean I'm an elf and can live for millennials!
2 too?
Making J a straight man would destroy the chemistry between the leading men. K is the straight man, J is the goofball.
@@dallesamllhals9161 I liked 2!
@@StevenJShow So like: A closed fist vs open hand slap?
I'm curious to see Will Smith in a serious role, I think I'll enjoy it a lot more lol
33:45 "that looks disgusting" 40:13 "This is so fun"
MIB 2 is worth a watch. One of my favorite Tommy lee jones movies is "volcano". Also check out "Man of the house" (make sure you watch the tommy lee jones one not the other one lol).
05:30 "I need to be in shape again." You and me both, sister 🐷😣
Thanks, Verowak! 👽 That little Greek Diner used to be called Florent, in the meatpacking district of Manhattan. I dined and filmed (a music video) there with a college friend... long before this movie. But it was quite thrilling to recognize a place I'd been... and ate at. 🍽
Ooh that's so neat!! Recognizing a place in a movie is so fun!! Huge bonus that you filmed a music video too, though I'm guessing it wasn't about aliens lol
@@VerowakReacts It was about a drag queen. Sometimes she looked like she was from outer space... but, she was from Arkadelphia, Arkansas. 😆
@@auntvesuvi3872 Did they just name that town as the Philadelphia or Arkansas?! 🤣
@@VerowakReacts My friend used to joke about it. They'd say, "Philadelphia means 'city of brotherly love'... Arkadelphia means 'city of hillbilly love'." 😆
"Enhance..... Enhance" Love the Super Troopers reference.
I still need to see that movie lol. The joys of knowing quotes but not having seen the movie 😂
I thought it was Blade Runner 🤷
@@VerowakReacts ACK! I guess it isn't a spoiler than whew. Side note: have you ever taken any IQ test? You are able to predict so many things in movies it blows my mind / spatial awareness / etc.
@@jacobmylan9644 I haven't taken an IQ test, perhaps one day I'll take one lol
For a very different Tommy Lee Jones alien thing, recommend the Japanese Boss Coffee commercials he did.
No one mentioning U.S. Marshals?
The dude working the morgue's desk is in the 2nd movie :)
Just a hobby that pays very well.🤑😁
4. "Congratulations Reggie........It' a squid".🤣
5. Having a weapon with a recoil like that defeats the purpose of a human using it.
6. Tell me this wasn't a fun movie. I dare you.
15:25 You're exactly right, and this is one of my favorite parts of the movie: Egger the Bug trying to 'act casual.'
32:25 And K is lucky that Bugs don't chew.
You would like Men in Black 2 and 3.
The beaded car seat cover is an inside joke. All cab drivers in NY had them. They were kind of a fad then. They provide circulation, because NY cabs get hot. But a lot of people hate them, that's why it got thrown on the ground and that's why Will knew it was a cab.
Ahhh. I have like no experience with cabs so it seemed random to me lol
@@VerowakReacts I could tell! I lived in NYC in the 90s.
Great reaction - not only did you meet the movie at its level, you were ahead of the plot a couple times. Really on top of it!
MIB is a great movie! It's funny and really makes you think about how small you are. Thanks for reacting to it. I really enjoyed it.
We are so incredibly small when we look at how insanely massive even just our solar system is
You can't guess the galaxy in Orion's belt. You have to wait for the reveal.
I would rather not lie and fake a reaction lol 🤣
For a Tommy Lee movie that show cases hs deadpan talents, check out The Fugitive a cat-and-mouse chase with Harrison Ford. Jones' performance was so good, he got his own spin-off movie out of it
Fresh Prince had ended when this movie came out. It ended in 1996, this movie came out in 97.
Fresh Prince ended when Independence Day came out
The X-Files, season 3, episode 20, "Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space'" is essential viewing after this.
If you watch 2 and 3, without spoilers I will say Tommy Lee Jones is in both the second and third movie. So give them a chance.
@@AlexApproBAT It's so interesting to see who has heard of the shows we grew up with 😁
There’s only one thing left to do… MIB2 reaction 👽
The Worms in the coffee break room were speaking the same language as Jabba the Hutt.
Funny thing about Orion's belt, there are actually about 8 stars that are all perfectly aligned in a straight line including Earth.
Earth isn't a star
@@MGower4465 The LINE goes through earth. geesh
A nice detail of the bug in the Edgar suit was the color draining from the skin and looking haggard as decomposition set in the longer he wore it.
You need to watch Linda Fiorentino in "The Last Seduction". Fantastic performance. 180 degrees from this character.
This movie kicked off an amazing cartoon which id highly recommend
MIB2 is okay, but MIB3 is fantastic. Definitely worth a look.
Funny you say it would be nice to erase a movie and watch it again for the first time. That is one of the main reasons I enjoy reaction videos. I never get to see a movie again for the first time but I enjoy watching with people who are watching for the first time. It's the closest I can get to experiencing it again for the first time.
Its such miracle itself that you remember that story from you childhood :O
22:04 - Oh that Super Troopers reference! 😂😂😂
I use it whenever I can 😁
Besides this trilogy, other Will Smith movies to watch include Independence Day, The Bad Boys trilogy, I, Robot, Wild, Wild West, Enemy of the State, Ali, I Am Legend, Pursuit of Happiness, Concussion and King Richard. This film series was adapted from the comics of the same name and was also adapted into a short lived animated series
Hope you two are having an great and awesome day ❤
I hope you are too!!!
Well we have 2 movies telling us Elvis isn't dead. This one says he was an alien that just went home. To find out what the other explanation is you have to watch Death Becomes Her. 😉
Tommy Lee Jones Movies:
The Fugitive
U.S. Marshalls
Under Siege
Double Jeopardy
Volcano
Man Of The House (2005)
Small Soldiers (voice)
d'onofrio was a highlight! I get you with the will smith stuff, it was ok at best but only because tommy lee jones is an amazing straightman. He just goes a little overboard and feels oblivious even as an actual person.
The bug is Vincent D'Onofrio.
Kingpin from "Daredevil".
I think you'd enjoy Tommy Lee Jones and Clint Eastwood in Space Cowboys
My cat is named Orion because of this movie
Rick Baker has earned 7 Oscar wins and 5 other Nominees for make-up, starting with American Werewolf in London (1982) ...
This is without doubt one of the most fun movies ever made, and the CGI still holds up nearly 30 years later
I love the Edgar suit so much, so amazing to see the gradual decay
