    Should your saw cuts be angled to hold the mortar better

    • @Conproco
      @Conproco  3 года назад +1

      Hi Cindy. Thank you for the question. In the past, many engineers asked for prep work to include "dovetailing" (angled saw cuts to help anchor mortar repairs). The required angle of the dovetail required to secure a composite repair in place is typically only 2 to 3 degrees. In the field, it's very difficult to maintain such a small angle of cut, and most installers will over cut the dovetail angle to 45 degrees. This puts a strain on the mitered corners of the dovetail, which can cause more deterioration of the original substrate.
      When installed correctly, the composite repair will properly bond to the host substrate without the need for the dovetail prep. If additional mechanical anchoring is desired/required, we typically recommend stainless steel reinforcement be installed as part of the composite repair.

    Is there a way to add color? The lintels I need to repair on my house are red.

    • @Conproco
      @Conproco  2 года назад

      Hi Molaleni. We offer a standard red color, and we also offer custom color matching. We don't suggest adding powdered colorant yourself, since it can alter the consistency and properties of the mortar.

    Hi guys, do you have products that work well with linestone step repair?

    • @Conproco
      @Conproco  3 года назад

      Matrix or Matrix Superfine can be used to repair limestone (steps). It is recommended to apply step repair thicker than typical vertical so the repair has enough “body” to withstand repeated foot traffic. Most repairs for steps should be done at a minimum of 1” thick. Allow for longer curing times (1 week+) prior to opening repairs up to foot traffic. Please follow the instructions for application on the product data bulletin listed at www.conproco.com. Treating horizontal repairs with a water repellent (Conproco Shield MX) would protect the repairs and help them wear better with the existing limestone.

      I've done two jobs with two different Companies in the Boston area. The first job my boss was able to renegotiate the contract midway through the project and somehow turn a profit, so I heard.
      The second project, the boss had know idea when he bid the scope of the work and lost his shirt.
      I used Jansmorter on the first project which was Bluestone. The second project was Brownstone and i used the Conproco.
      Both products are almost identical, mix ratios are a little different. I personally liked the Conproco better.
      To answer your question: it is my opinion that it is impossible to estimate the time it takes to complete a repair depending on the detail of the repair.
      Time, labor, material and lots of patients are required to successfully use this material.

    any tricks for over head repair?

    • @trishveneziano6551
      @trishveneziano6551 5 лет назад +1

      Hi Luke. Overhead repair is usually completed in shallower lifts. Allow lifts to stiffen 5-10 minutes (temp dependent) so as not to add too much weight and movement on previous lift.
      If possible, you can take try to setup a slip form and pack material in larger lifts supported by the form (and any mandated anchors). Slide the slip form after mortar starts to stiffen and create a new “shelf” to continue patching.

      The Matrix in this video is being applied to reinforced precast concrete. We also offer a more economical repair mortar designed specifically for concrete surfaces called ISR CM. ISR CM comes in a wide variety of standard colors, and can also be custom matched.
