If those of you that have not seen the movie "RAY", urge strongly to see it for the illustration of the genius, and the inner strength of character of the man!! Like us all he had a couple of flaws that were excusable.
One of my fav clips was when Ray appeared on Saturday Night Live and they thought they were pullin fast one on ol' Ray and he knew and had fun with them! LOL
Wroth crediting that this was shot at Dublin's iconic Gaiety Theatre. Ray Charles was in Dublin for a month shooting at the Gaiety with an audience of 300 dubliners as extras provided by Irish Equity. They also filmed at Ardmore Studios. Biggest challenge for Charles was a lack of recreational materials, shall we say. That really wouldn't be a problem nowadays.
One of the better efforts (recordings) of the one and the only, the great Mr. Ray Charles. Only thing missing would be a forte string (violin, chello) section, a mello (legato) horn (oboe, french horn, Bassoon) section, a Harpsichord/Glockenspiel/triangle section, and a musically gifted audio mixing crew that could grant Mr. Charles the musical justice that Mr. Charles so rightfully deserves. I can already imagine hearing it in my head, knocking the Boléro by Maurice Ravel (1875-1937) down a notch, and screaming "VICTORY".
If I want to react It"s for saying that Ray Charles vill always be staying in ma heart as one of the better singers of his generation and I am never tried to hear him .He belongs to american jazz art.
La primera vez que escuché RAY CHARLES me encanto.La primera canción que escuché fué esta What I Say.Luego descubrí Hit the road Jack,Georgia on my mind,Cry y unchain my heat.etc y me doy cuenta que fué un maestro y genio. ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡INCREÍBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I first heard tis song on KQV radio, Pittsburgh, '59. I could not believe the GREAT music coming from my little GE portable! "What'd I Say" Parts 1 & 2 played b-to-b. Mind blowing. This is 1 of 3 songs that were the most memorable in my career. Thank you for posting!
Well, that pretty much goes for much of Hollywood then and now. Best part is when they can kick it. He told B.B. King a few months before he died, "if I knew we were going to live this long, we should have taken better care of ourselves." Course, he lived to be 73, that wasn't too bad. . .
@RockNostalgic18 Actually if you listen to the original recordings, the Raylettes are even supposed to start echoing him until after he does the first chorus
What a song, just beautiful am thinking he's singing about sex and the noises couples makes when having sex. Baby it's alright, ohhh,hmmmmmmmmmmm.awwwwwwwwwwwwww. Baby it's so goooood. lol lol. love it.
i'm sure reeled film doesn't do that, it's a digital problem and since i doubt this was digital originally the problem isn't from 1964 its more recent and whoever transferred it from analog to digital did a shitty job
Sing that shit! Baby feels so good YES YES YES! I pray music like this is never forgotten.
One of the raylettes came to our church over 10 years ago she was up there in age and married to one of the pastors that visited our church

1:46 the way ray screams at the end of this section has me at a loss for words...pure energy!!!
I read somewhere that this is a tune he made up on the spot at one of his concerts. Maybe it was this one!!! Really amazing soul. . .
That's true, I watched one of his interviews and he said he made the song up on the spot and then put it on wax.
His #1 song ever, made up as he went along , just doesn't get any better, true musical talent at its best . RIP Ray , there will never be another!
That Horn section though! Truly a musical genius.

There arnt that many artists sat at a piano that you could describe as 'exciting' Ray was one of them.
That Ray Charles suit seems as original to me as if you think the same
Ray Charles Robinson, Requiescat In Pace.
Thanks for the close ups on the . . . drummer?
Классная песня!!!
I wonder if anyone of the audience is still alive ?
I can't explain what happens to my brain when this comes to my mind

out of time
very strange video, You got a black guy singing a very popular high energy dance song, and a bunch of white people looking like they are at an opera.
