Okay, so I’m fisherman. Here’s an explanation for 2 motors. The big motor is your main motor for driving across the lake/river/ocean to go to different spots to fish. The smaller motor is a “kicker” motor, which is used for a trolling motor when troll fishing. Trolling is setting the lines behind the boat and just drag them behind the boat as you slowly move across the water body instead of repeatedly casting and retrieving. When there are 2 or more motors of the same size, they are all main motors where the steering and throttle controls connects to all of them for more power and speed.

Connor Outdoors this is exactly right spot on I saw where somebody said the small motor was for fishing on a lake with a horsepower restriction limit and that is not true but the big and little motor setup is made for troll fishing but it’s more a northern thing you really don’t see much of it down here in Alabama I live on lake Guntersville and have never seen anyone trolling.

Where I’m from, we fish rivers. The second motor is referred to as a “kicker”, and its purpose is either to use for trolling or to get you back to the launch if your main motor broke down.

Pretty sure there is multiple reasons for two motors on a boat. One is for getting to where you will be fishing and the smaller one is for moving slowly while fishing. Another reason is in case of one motor runs out of gas, the other can help you get to shore.

It has two motors for different bodys of water on big body’s of water you use the big motor and the little motor is for if you in little rivers or something you use the little one because it doesn’t make a bunch of wake and won’t damage the bank as much as a big motor
