Nitin Sawhney is one of the most distinctive and versatile musical voices around today. Firmly established as a world-class producer, songwriter, DJ, multi-instrumentalist, orchestral composer and cultural pioneer, Sawhney has become a latter-day Renaissance man in the worlds of music, film, videogames, dance and theatre.
#NitinSawhney #Homelands #RoyalAlbertHall
Nitin Sawhney is the best thing to happen to British music in the last century. He is embodiment in sound of everything that is great about Britain. London is the place where all cultures meet and Britain absorbs the best of everything it comes into contact with.
This is it in music.
It’s not that easy in imperialist culture. Nitin has opened doors for so many people letting his humility, grace and musical mastery speak for itself. The Brits had no choice but to embrace him. Would never happen in Australia.
Not just London Pal, Look at northern towns like Bradford, Sheffield Leeds, Hull etc there a melting pot of different cultures, Languages, religion's et al and brilliant places to experience anything and everything.
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
@marijke Corneilla He is from London.
Listen to his recent interview on Hardball sbout his struggles to be accepted there.
So nice to sing our 'Homelands' again. What Fantastic company on and off stage, such a warm embrace echoed by the curves of the Royal Albert Hall, song spirits from across the World reverberating in unity. Peace on Earth. LOVE. x Nina
Nina, I have been trying to explain to others the whole experience of that beautiful evening, but I think you have said it so much better. This is one memory that will always be there. Beautiful and thank you.
Giving me a reason to live, at least for today. One day at a time. Gracias = Grace, Amen.
You've got this! :)
Keep going Catherine xxx
So amazing to play Homelands in this incredible venue....I miss live gigs!
You were awesome
your violine playing is just heavenly including all muscicians and artists were fabulous cant be express in words such a beautiful musical show
I first heard this on Cafe Del Mar volumen Seis in 1997 courtesy of my cousin who was learning to produce music and came back from Phuket with this album.
This was his favourite track on the compilation and I still listen to it 25 years later. It's a wonderful harmonious piece which offers so many layers, depths, pace, a collaboration of different genres and a sweet nostalgic feeling, yet so touching like a mother softly singing to her baby.
At 16 all I could envision in my mind was an image of a few people strolling along dirt track in a wide open space with grand hills silhouetted against the sky, the air hot and landscape orange from the deep sunset. It's all I see when I listen to Homelands. My parents grew up in Southall West London and this is where my cousin grew up too, so I spent nearly all of my life here around the Indian culture and music, which was very rich in our lives for a very long time.
I would say it was my very first dose of true music that switched me away from the modern urban dance of the time onto real music, acoustic music, harmonious music, and it's never left me.
A remarkably talented musical gentleman. Thank you Nitin.
Goodness. How wonderful. Nitin is a real musical treasure.
This kind of music reminds me that "Music is absolutely magical" Thank you for this❤

This was such a beautiful evening. Looking forward to playing the Royal Albert Hall again later this year (2021). We’ll be playing tracks from the entire back catalogue as from the new album “immigrants”. October 29th. Hope you can join us 🙏🏾
Thank you Nitin for sharing a 2019 Thursday evening with your friends and us, the audience. It’s less than 2 years ago but feels like a lifetime. Myself and significant others look forward to a special Friday evening in October 2021.
I've been fortunate and have listened to you for over 20 years, your music has been and continues to be the soundtrack to some of the most profound times of my life. I have just booked to see you and your ensemble on 29 Oct. Thank you for every note every lyric every sound every thing.. (first and last time i saw you was in Regents park at channel 4's Indian summer in the early 00's, amazing 😊)
Please come to New Zealand sometime 🙏
My mate Anil will hopefully be able to go …. He was a few years behind you at school in Rochester . I’m in Oz so won’t be able to make it
@Nitin Sawhney This album "Beyond Skin" brings me so much memories. In summer 2001, I was in Iran on my way to Pakistan, and I was listening some music on a walkman. A nice guy I met gave me a cassette with "Beyond Skin" on it, after I told him I was a fan of Indian music...I knew nothing concerning your music at that time, but it was a kind of revelation for sure. I then spent 6 weeks in Pakistan listening this album every day... I flew from Islamabad to Dubai and Istanbul on September 10 th, 2001... So, this album is still full of strong emotions for me... I got some other 6 or 7 albums from you, and I have beeen listening your great music for 20 years now! Unfortunately I never saw you live on stage...One day maybe!
The way it just all comes together is so beautiful.
I pray to one day see you live🙏📿💚
SAME!
how does this not have more views?

Vraiment fabuleux la beauté de cette interprétation ! J'adorai ce morceau à sa sortie il y a longtemps mais là, je suis vraiment sous le charme
He was the star of my playlist back in 2000 with his eclectic trip hop sounds and he never will be replaced!
Nitin Sauwhney is a kind of genius. Love him, love his fundamental work
Cette musique me transporte dans un monde mélancolique et doux , quel formidable voyage
Tudo o que quiser
Tem que entender
Nas palmas da mão
Se tiver porquê
Frágil nessa terra
Fácil derrubou
Quando jogou fora
Tudo acabou
A beautiful and moving piece. Thanks for posting!

I have just rediscovered the stunning album 'Beyond Skin' which was given to me as a teenager by someone I am indebted to as a result. It is an incredible work, and this is one of my favourite tracks. How I wish I had known Nitin was playing at the Albert Hall in 2019! I would have loved to be there. Its rare a youtube video holds your attention for 8 and a half minutes these days, but I was transfixed. This album has been a huge inspiration to me as a musician.
