@@HidinginPublic I loved the simple scenes like that one but also it was hilarious when Hachiman and the president of the other school were using overly technical business terms that didn't make sense to try and fool everyone.
The rap battle is the first time that i genuinely laughed my ass off because of an anime, it's honestly hilarious how they trying to trick each other with bullshit terms.

Ironic because Hachiman has to fake loving his current image back then. He thinks he loves to be alone and all that things but deep inside he wants to be loved and wants to meet people who would actually care for him.
@@rivera8109 I think it wasn’t fake. He was just that twisted that it was how he protected himself. After experiencing something good, though, he does slowly drop that façade. Especially after the people closest to him tell him that they don’t want to see him hurt any more.
yeah but she's brave enough to put up with it, to look at it clear eyed and go "imma be friends with them anyway even though we all know and have openly discussed the situation". That takes real guts. she's a champion.
@@cesareoespinoza5642 no Yui has a crush on that guy, Hachiman. But Hachiman starts dating Yukino, their couple is one of the most beautiful ones in anime. But Yui still remains both of their best friends as Yukino is the girl she loves the most and Hachiman is the guy she loves the most.
I have heard people saying it is really dramatic. The truth is.. it may seem dramatic but it isn't. Everyone has that thoughts in their mind.. everyone compromises... everyone has those awkward moments. Oregairu actually focuses on it which actually make it all the more amazing in my opinion.
@@IonutCatana1989 Dude.. did you even read what I wrote? I literally supported what the guy in the video said lol. I literally cried during the 11th episode confession.
We all have wish to not put "end" and "oregairu" at the same sentence. But few weeks ago it finally happened. Some people waited for a year or two for season 3 but many waited for 5 to 7 years just to see this ending. It was a rollercoaster ride. The last Hachiman and Yukino argument had ended, the last Yahallo have been spoken. For the anime that influence me more than any anime. Just like what Hiratsuka said "Don't summarize what you have in a simple word like "codependence". Can you honestly pack all your feelings into just a single word." Saying thank you or being glad in watching this anime is an understatement. Nevertheless Thank you for the memories Hachiman, Yukino and Yui. You guys will always have a place in my heart. It ain't the best anime, but it surely is one of the BEST Rom-Com of All Time. That's all and Yahallo everyone.
S1: A philosophical guy with weird ideas on the way of life. S2: He just ascended to the new heights of philosophy. S3: WHATtTTTTTTTt he can RAPP!! NOOOOOOOOO Yui lost.
Yui was always gonna lose, but she put up an impressive fight. and I'm proud of her for having the emotional maturity to value her friendship with the two over the discomfort of unrequited feelings. she's gonna make her youth count come hell or high water, and you have to respect it.
@@dvillines26 well I respect that she put a good fight but I hate the cliche shit like "they are my friends so I should accept that they are in relationship". Fuck that, and fuck the author put her in that state. At least Onodera move on from Raku in Nisekoi.
There's a ghibli movie that has sea in it, that's set in modern japan that I also really liked. It's mature in the way it depicts the characters, highlighting immaturity, if that makes any sense. Anyhow, it's really good.
I honestly started watched this while series while growing up in the same age group as hachiman and i gotta say, this anime has left a permanent mark on me
Same, first season I was also in the 11th grade same as them, but for us u years has passed while for them it was barely a year. But with that, they still gave us such an amazing feel
I was still in high school when I saw the first season and remember how much I related to hachiman because I was also alone and didn’t have any friends. His views started to resonate with me and I started to adopt those views. When season 2 was announced I was excited to hear more of hachimans twisted view of the world, and not feel as lame as I did for being alone. Although I did get more of those wonderful monologues and view points one thing I noticed is his change. He was still cynical but he seemed off. When the iconic “genuine” scene happened I was shocked and in tears. That whole monologue made me think twice about where I was headed with myself and relationships in general, because like what Hachiman said he doesn’t want to be understood he wants to understand and not understanding scares him. Because of that one scene it made me want to be more out there, more open, and made me want to seek out that genuine thing. I started to make friends and I’m still pretty close to them even after we’ve graduated. I didn’t feel...alone. All because of that scene and it’s impact it left on me I started to go out and open myself up more. When Hachiman at season 3 cringed at his first essay I remember cringing with him cuz yea that was something that I thought was “philosophical” and looking back I realized it was just a dumb phase in my life that I can look back and say “ew”. I really did feel like I grew up with this 2d fictional character. This series impacted my life so much and is PERSONALLY my favorite anime of all time (so much so I started reading the LN) Although I still feel lonely in tough times I will never stop searching for that genuine thing.
Good work soldier but it appears I have been abandoned for all the people I cared for including friends as they saw me as some parasite sucking their knowledge of subjects that I wasn’t good at and believed I used it to my advantage. They went up to me and said we are all leaving you and don’t be taking people and throwing them in the gutter just like us and I’m like what the fuck do you mean I was the reason you guys knew each other I was the reason you even have good grades To begin with and they said yes that’s true but that doesn’t explain how your always working and declining our offers to hang out.I was a busy man as I had work to do and knowledge to gain to be a surgeon but they never understanded and left me for dead.Word got around and people started to call me school shooter,Parasite and it angered me but what can I do when I have no one.So I just chose to give up on relationships and just be close to my family rather than others
I can't help but feel for Yuigahama. She's always been the one more in tune with her emotions, and as such, with the emotions of the other members of the trio. She watched 8man and Yukino fall in love with each other while falling for both of them as well. And as the series continued, those feelings became deeper, and unfortunately more harmful to Yui. It's like watching a sad movie knowing the end, wishing that it wouldn't end sadly. And conceding that, if its going to be sad, to try to enjoy the movie while it lasts.
What makes me most happy is seeing how an anime develops it's characters and if this anime is not a masterpiece it's neither less too. This anime is proof that anime are not only just eye candy and entertainment but can also leave a deep impression on your heart too.
@@koriroti oregairu made me sad to see go, but bunny girl senpai left me completely satisfied. I swear bunny girl senpai is a goddamn masterpiece on the same level as oregairu. Too bad it’s really underrated because the titled and synopsis make it sound like some ecchi harem shit
That's not actually true. The art got better between season 1 and season 2. For this to be proof that animes are not just eye candy. They shouldn't have changed the art to cater to a broader audience.
I actually avoided this show for awhile because of all of the "cringey" amvs or quotes that deified my guy's season one mindset. It might be because I literally thought the same thing when I was in middle school until about Junior year, and any brush with that makes me want to complete Sudoku. Buuuuut watching it now I recognize what the story was really about and I hope others grow up with him and learn the importance of staying open and having experiences in life. Even if it's just chilling with some friends.
I really like the return to those quotes at S3 and his reaction because it really exemplifies just how much he has changed and for the better. Glad you ended up watching it!
He was mentally better off in s1 The only reason he changed his entire life philosophy was because he finally received the female attention he had desperate wet dreams for in middle school If he never left early for his first day in highschool, he would still be the same And the only reason the girls even know he exists is because of that dog that he saved that 1 time. Ya really think Yui would have paid him any attention if he didnt save her dog? Him saving her dog was the one inciting incident that made him different from all the other nameless boys in their class, dont pretend like it would have played out any differently otherwise. Yui would have instantly been creeped out by him and treat him the same way she treats Zaimokuza.
@@whenyoupulloutyourdickands4023 I am so agreed, in most of the first season he was that sarcastic dude that had different perspective to things, but later he becomes Jesus of Chiba that can't help but suffer in order to help others. It might be said that he always been like this, but if so why he was an outcast in the first place. Nobody would mock and isolate from such a nice guy, even if he is rude from time to time. I also don't really like that all of the decisions came after dialogues with teacher, little sister or Haruno. Like he never decided things by himself, except this twist in the end.
@@FoRVidEGG Ehh, I disagree a bit. I think the case of him becoming a "jesus of Chiba" as you put it is not a question of why he's an outcast, but rather it's about him putting himself in harmful positions BECAUSE he was an outcast. If he was a "normal" person like many of those being part of different cliques, he never would've put himself in such a position. And thus pretty much nothing would've happened.
CLANNAD may have made me cry more, but I think Oregairu was by far the most impactful. It was so deep I didn't even fully understand all the complex undercurrents until I watched through the show a second time in preparation for this final season.
I'm currently reading the LN and being so deep in 80.000s head makes even better then the anime imo. Also, hiratsuka sensei might be my favorite anime teacher tied with hayashida sensei from 3gatsu no lion
YES EXATCLY, the two best teachers in anime that I've come across thus far. Although I feel like Hayashida is sadly more on the unknown/underrated side along with march comes in like a lion :(

@@justsomeshinigamiwithanapp5955 Death Note was a really good show, at the moment sitting in the top 10 of my list. I will say that the first half with L were a lot more intriguing and I personally enjoyed the conflict more over Near and Mellow. I have also recently been watching lots of animes. Given that I started watching anime this time last year starting with Demon Slayer, it feels so weird on the amount of animes I've watched. Idk the anime you watched nor the manga you read, however, Kokoro Connect was an alright anime. This is not to say its bad though, I havdn't watched any anime that I've considered is outright bad. "Youth is both a lie and a form of evil. Those that glorify that youth are only fooling themselves and those around them, and believe that their surroundings always affirm their actions. By using the word "youth" they twist and distort common sense and anything logical. For them, lies, secrets, sins, and failures do nothing but add spice to their youth." I think what Hachiman meant by "youth" is just the outlook of peers around him about life. They are so unaware of their own motivations and morality that they don't have a taste for what's logically good or common sense. As long as an affirmation from their peers still exists, they continue to glorify youth and seek new experiences indiscriminately (lies, secrets, sins, and failures). By doing this, they lie to themselves and their peers about their true motivation. As evidence, we see the theme of people putting on facades to maintain the status quo in relationships as a recurring theme in the series. Thus, youth is a lie and a form of evil. In my opinion, this is a great, logical opinion about the actions of those around 8man, but an uninformed one about relationships in particular. When 8man asked for the genuine thing, he believed that their current one was impure because he was aware of his ulterior motives. He thought that relying on others, wanting to understand, wanting to not hurt loved ones was just him being selfish, and that he conformed and lied to himself as well as others to keep the status quo. However, these facts alone certainly don't make a relationship fake. Once 8man reached the end of the series, he realized that perhaps all his classmates were trying to do the same thing as him and that he sounded hypocritical.
"Wanting to not hurt loved ones" is selfish? He didn't think that lol and how did he lie to himself what was the lie that he comforted himself and what was the facts that doesn't make the relationship fake please explain
@@Mangotunde the lie was ingenious, their entire relationship was just them ignoring each other's feelings and pretending to remain as they did at the very start because they were all afraid that if any two them got into a relationship, the other one would be left behind Yet this is the only way to go foward, hachiman himself propogated the lie the most, stopping yui from confessing, unable to respond and forcing all of them to keep it up In the end when the prom was over and yukino and yui decide to try and settle it, hachiman runs away too, in an effort to find something genuine he became the biggest liar Thankfully hiratsuka sensei and even haruno all pushed him into the right path, and for him to fully admit his feelings at the bridge, even if it was in a roundabout way.
I'm gonnna write a short paragraph now. : ) Oregairu i first watched when i was in an uphill battle with my school friends and life in general so for the most part i connected with Hachiman's disgusting and severe outlook to the rest of his peers. I shared similar thoughts but still tried to get along with everyone, but in the end i got along with no one. s2 came out and that's precisely when i had just hit the barrier of my first crush. My first love, and all that jazz. s2 connected with me cuz of that reason. I was in pain, but so was everyone else in oregairu's s2 for the most part i felt like. and now at s3....the finale to it all. The end of my school days. I graduated school about a year and a half ago and was anticipating that exactly on april 4th, i would come back from my last final for school and begin the ending of one of the most precious stories in my heart. That didn't happen...but here we are. Few more months later. The end of Oregairu. The end of my school days. And the end of an era for me. Honestly im writing this here just cuz i'd like for you to read this as well ; i used to share a lot of similarities with you Hiding. Now? Im me and you're you. But i hope we both can develop positively in the years to come :) Finally ; uh HOLY FUCK YUI YOU POOR THING 😭
This anime makes the viewers, or me at least, asking myself wtf is happening. The dialogue is so implicit, often you don't get it clearly what happened to a person. You have to read between the lines. That's so like real life, where people never really tell others what happened to them.
which is why some people bounce off this hardcore, and I don't blame them. A lot of people don't watch anime to see Real Shit. they want shouty boys making things explode with punches, waifus, moe blobs, etc. and more power to them! Stories that are more emotionally realistic are often infuriating in the way that real life situations you observe as a third party can be infuriating. like you see two people that should just for once be honest with each other and you want to scream, and a lot of the time that's Oregairu.
What made me love and appreciate this series was finding that I matured alongside the characters. From being an edgy teenager who respected Hachiman's outlook on life to now being an adult with a much broader view on people and the world as you put it. Great vid again as always, love how you eloquently expressed what alot of us fans probably feel but can't quite explain. Hopefully we can all find that genuine thing. Also Persona music is always a win
Honesly its been good and all as an anime ... I was enjoying it just wholesome and all,and yea i was watching it now and not when it was going on anyways just finished and now that i finished at the end i wish if it didnt end and just go on... Really it touched my heart at the end, however the way it all ended im Happy
"If the Truth is a cruel mistress, then the Lie is a kind girl" - that only seemed profound until you saw tears in Yui's eyes. I have a better quote to summarize my Oregairu experience: "I think I know what your problem is: you are too serious. Serious face doesn't necessary mean a strong mind. Every mistake in the world is made with that exact expression. Smile, good sirs, smile."
im waaaaaay too young to truly appreciate this anime, gonna come back to this when i have a better grasp of the world and fully develop my emotions, see y'all on the other side

This show showed me everything: Tears, Heartbreak,Desire, Realisation, Friendship,Bonds and Relationship. So many feelings cannot be defined in just a single word. Hachiman went from being alone to craving for something genuine and true which I guess many people can understand and desire. Yukino stopped chasing her sister, was able to start justify her worthiness and pride by starting to follow her own path and happy that there are people who can understand her. Yui having genuine care and love for both of them and trying to keep a sinking ship afloat. Both Sensei and Haruno playing an important role in them making those desicions. Sensei with her final lesson and Haruno wanting them to not do the same mistake she did. It was everything what you can see in real life and this is the only anime till date that left a deep and permanent impact on me atleast. It is selfish for me to ask for more of this and "grateful" and "in awe"are small words for such a wonderful work with a synonymous message. I just hope everyone finds their own genuine and feel happy. Thank you SNAFU / OREGAIRU.
Yukino x Hachiman was always my ship from start to finish and after 5 years, I'm glad it finally happened Thank you, Oreigaru Yahallo, one last time :)
Damn i really enjoyed the background music, idk why but it felt really fitting. Thanks for letting me see a similar but different perspective on that story, really appreciate it.
It's a meh harem with a good message about people. 1st season hachiman is the best written character is a long time. It's still a show where the guy picks the 1st female he needs.
Thats actually so sad omg, And the music in the background made me feel it more Oegairu is truly something Its so different from other animes Its a masterpiece.
Oregairu in a nutshell: A boy who had a past of unloved, loneliness, solitude, bullied, shunned, and heartbroken...learned to understand again the meaning of genuinely loving and caring for someone.
I grew up with that anime, being 19 now watching it ends while remembering how it changed my life when I was 14 is an amazing feeling. I feel sad and relieved that the show ended. For most people, it's just an anime like another one. But for me, and for the people who literally grew up following the characters and learning society by watching it, it's a part of your life closing its doors. The story is over, Hachiman learned from his experiences and found his genuine. Now the anime ends and it's time for us to find our genuine. Man I miss the old days.
I learn more when matching this show, knowledge that I’ve already obtained yet I realized something different every time, your videos are very helpful. Thank you 🖤🗿
Yeah I remember the initial criticism it got people not liking the more dramatic focus but I think it pairs well with the story and sort of shows the growing up with hachiman as a character too
Thank you so much for the video. Whether it is my lack of comprehension or my horrible attention span, I found it hard to grasp exactly what was going on within Oregairu over the 3 seasons. As with most anime, I just watch to find a sense of enjoyment. But with a few, I find personal growth whether within the story development or characters. I always felt that Oregairu could be one. After watching your vid, I finally feel like I understand the feelings which were being conveyed over the show. Genuinely, thanks.
This anime is such food for thought, discussion and self-reflection because these characters really strike a chord with you. We grew up and found this show, related to our boy and saw ourselves in him, we learned, we suffered and we watched him open up and grow as a person. When Hachiman learns to feel, so do we. When he looks back and cringes at his past mistakes, so do we. When he comes into his own and moves forward, we cheer him on. This is probably my favorite anime because the characters here feel so painfully real, not just on paper, but personally.
Gotta say your summary and your very script here is pretty topnotch. You're right in saying that the changes all of them go through are so subtle throughout the episodes that it's not very easy to put them into words. But you did a bang up job here. That "not as I expected" part got me chuckling.
i was super sad that it ended but it was a great ride that i watched this anime this left a mark on me but i hope they make a ova or a movie about the end of the story with yukino and hachimans relationship and hachiman’s sister going to high school
I'm so happy I only recently discovered this anime and didn't wait 5 years for the next season to arrive because I was immediately hooked after season 1. I finished this anime literally yesterday. I have seen a lot of animes in my lifetime and hands down this series has become one of my favorite animes of all time. It's at least in my top 20 of favorite animes of all time. I thought it was so well done and I completely related with these characters. It's a masterpiece in my opinion.
I'll be honest, season 3 adapted Yui's dcenes from the novel beyond perfectly. But they skimmed almost all of Yukino's scenes or any scenes related to Hachiman's monologues related to his relationship with Yukino. F
@@HidinginPublic I wasn't really dissatisfied or anything, I still thought it was great. I was just puzzled as to why they chose to skim things when they had a lot less volumes to cover than previous seasons
Sure but that seems like a creative decision, to make us long for it. Also the production values are fantastic, especially directing and sound design. Can't complain personally
@@HidinginPublic I always expected it, from the moment they brushed over hayamas backstory, I knew it was gonna be a mostly yui affair, and it makes sense, I mean yui was never going to win, so might as well shed as much light on her as possible
oh man, when i really realize what this show is about, something in my head was broken and i kept thinking about my relationships and my connection with people and stuff, i can't get over that thought. A couple of days later, i cried man, i cried to my core soul because i know i didn't have any real connection with anyone in for 2 whole years now. But happily, in that weak moment, i told my friends how i truly feel, and they accepted it. I hope, like Hachiman, to have something genuine with them, to have a strong connection with someone that we can feel our love to each other P/s: my English is bad, sorry
Finally at last!! Thanks RUclips! For finally letting me enjoy the video I binged 3 seasons to watch! It was a great video and oregairu was a great show, I feel bad for Yui bc she had to suffer a lot, she knew she couldn't win despite trying so hard. I can relate with Yuki and her feeling of pressuring herself to improve and her feeling like shit for not being able to do things on her own. And it's great to see how much hachiman has grown from 1st season! Thanks for the amazing video Hiding ❤️ hopefully RUclips will put it back on the algorithm after copystricking it

My favourite anime of the last 6-7 years, enjoyed the ride. Following finishing oregairu kan I quickly searched youtube for someone covering and talking about the ending as the thirst for more oregairu wasn't quenched yet, I have come to terms that there will be no more oregairu just like yui coming to terms that she's lost sight of hachiman.. I hope a gem like this series that arises once in a lifetime blesses us again. Great video essay, enjoyed it thoroughly man - keep it up
Actually, this "seeking something genuine" was a great helper to me done years ago, and it came from watching this anime. As I wasn't taught by my parents how to deal with these things, I'm grateful for the existence of this anime. It brought me a perspective that's much more healthy than the one I had before.
I finally got the time to watch the third season of this anime. When I watched the first season I was recently coming out of a real deep depression. I resonated with Hachiman then as all my friends had abandoned me years ago. Since then, life has passed and I have someone whom I love very much. It’s amazing how much of Hachiman’s journey and realizations I ended up having myself. I guess what they say is true, life imitates art.
I love this video its got every aspect that i like of oregairu and more. Hachiman one of the best protags of all time and a prime example of character development that doesn't have to change the whole character
As someone who is pretty young and going through his own youth. I completely loved and adored this anime. It's taught me a whole lot and I can only hope I will keep pondering on and finding something that I find is my own genuine thing. And keep enjoying and living my youth until the very end! I don't know where my youth will go and lead to, but I'm hopeful and this anime has only made me want to enjoy it the fullest! I'm glad I could finish this anime and take all the great messages! And thank you Hiding in Public for making such a great video essay and analysis on this! It was great for me to watch and understand a bit more about these characters through you!
end of an era, it feels like moving to a new hood now watching all these animes with similar plots, snafu was really different. now lets head off and find our own something that is genuine.
Oregairu has always been an amazing anime in my opinion. I watched it for the first time back in 2015, in my final year of high school and it remained one of my favourite animes of all time. Now, 5 years later, after rewatching it again, I must say it felt different from the first time watching it, but in a good way. It reminded me of fond memories, not only about the anime, but also about my high school days. It struck me as to how I could find fragments of my personality in all the 3 characters. It reminded me of my own coming of age story and highlighted how much I've progressed and changed in these 5 years. Unknowingly, Oregairu has helped shaped me into who I am today and changed my perspective of certain things in life no matter how minute the influences were. But I'm glad that it happened. Now, as I'm soon about to graduate from university, all I can do is enjoy the present and continue making choices that I'll be proud of in the future, to able to look back at fond memories with the people I hold most dear to me. I'll finish these awfully long post with a quote from the anime: "The present isn't everything, but there are things you can only do now, things you can only find here. It's now. Now or never. Think, writhe, struggle and agonise. If not, what you're going through isn't genuine." Hope that everyone continues to navigate their own lives as true to themselves as possible, to find something truly genuine and precious to them. Whether it may be a relationship/friendship, fond memories or even a career path in life. Sorry again for the long post and all the best in your lives everyone!
this anime was the first for months, which actually got me crying. but instead of sad crying, it was actually happy crying. and that is REALLY rare from anime.
This is the most important anime I have ever watched so far. Never thought I’d like it so much being a battle shonen and scifi guy and on top of that I am way past the characters’ ages. All the talk about what’s genuine really just resonated with me. It’s exactly what I needed to hear at this point in my life. This show is like taking that one hard look at the mirror for me.
Wataru is a genius for writing this series, which he started while he was in HS. Seeing how it’s in the hall of fame for light novels in Japan is really deserving!
1:55 That's a REALLY GOOD POINT that almost nobody brought up! The 7 years gap between the first season and the third season of Oregairu, while probably wasn't intended, did make the series even more impactful than it appeared to be! 😎 I remembered myself agreeing with a lot of the viewpoints Hachiman put forth in Season 1 years ago. And eventually just like Hachiman, with widening experiences with different groups of people in different situations, slowly growing out of some of those childish adolescent thoughts 🤣 What a masterpiece!

But with this one I really didn't wanna spoil myself and went to watch the series first. In any case your videos on Oregairu are amazing! I'm always surprised at how you can capture the core of a show so well. I also think it's really brave of you to put so much of your personal emotions and experiences in your videos, where they can be seen by literally the whole world. I don't think there are many people who would or could do that. In any case you can be proud of both your videos! Keep up the good work!
I gotta admit I was kinda lost watching the show week by week although it isn't hard to understand so I kinda needed the video thanks! 😅 And holy shit I think I need to rewatch oregairu from the start now with my current (relatively) more mature perspective than what I had the 4 years or so ago when I first watched it it's gonna be a trip...
Great video man. Seeing this iconic series come to an end is pretty sad, but I guess you could take something from this show and apply it right here: the experience of watching this, knowing it'll eventually end but still appreciating and enjoying it to the fullest is part is the experience if watching it.
If we’re talking about student characters I was definitely team Yui too (even though I knew she’s gonna lose), but if we’re talking overall : Sensei is best girl ^^
This anime is unique, my favorite about drama and highschool life (and that isn't even my thing). Others can only hope or act to be like Oregairu, but no other anime I've seen as reached it's level. Mostly for his MC, Hachiman is just that epic.
Ive watched the first season of this show and i could not tell you how long it had been since I last messaged my friends fangirling about how awesome a show was and telling them why, screenshotting whole scenes and also telling them real time whats happening where Ive gotten in the story right now while also talking about why I so love this show...
I first watched this series back in middle school and loved this series since I was pretty much just like season 1 hachiman in middle school. When I watched season 2, it was at the start of 8th grade when i started to realized that i wanted relationships to be with people. and now being a junior when season 3 is airing, hachiman also starts to reflect on me again, wanting to keep relationships but at the same time to scared to advance them in fear that others will be destroyed. I basically grew up with this romcom (despite not ever being a relationship) and It feels so good and bad to see it finally end. I didnt only connect with hachiman Ethier. I also did with the female leads. At the start of highschool I felt the same type of depression that yukino did (that people are wasting their time by helping me because I'm useless) and to this day I still am facing it although less than I did before. And with yuigahama realizing that what she wants is everything. Also if you are wondering, I watched season 2 after a pretty long gap after season 1 because I fell out of anime for a small bit and never got around to season 2 until 8th grade
I love the videos of yours that I listen to, I admit it's not many because I don't watch much anime anymore so I can't really appreciate the videos you do on series' I haven't watched. I very much enjoy how you write your videos, they feel like more than reviews, and the added personal element you bring to each. Hope to see you continue doing this for years to come.
That's one of the most emotional and close to reality story ever animated... but do we really have an end to this story? The 14rd volume called "Shin"? Subtext, masks, doing everything just to keep status quo vs. pursuit of genuineness, haunting past and present people that blocks you from moving forward, the difficulty of saying what you really want to. It's also interesting how each season's mood fits to their relationship development. - 1st season was made more in a comedy mood to reflect how people usually make relationships, where there are more jokes, fun, just getting to know each other. - 2nd one was more about relationship of the club, beginning of their friendship and people that were around them, so the action slowed down a little, it was more emotional. - In 3rd their finally finally break out of their shells, say what they really feel about each other, the preparations for festival felt to be just deep in the background... and the confession, it was really unexpected.
The mere start of this video made me want to binge the entire Anime in a span of 2-3 days. When I came back the video was gone. Glad to see it's back up
“IM GONNA YELL MY CHARACTER ARC!!!” That made me laugh harder than it should’ve but so true tho lol. I haven’t seen this anime but the way you analyzed and explained things gave me a sense of what is going on and how the characters act and think. It seems like another anime I need to add to my long ass list even though I just watched a video that explained the ending. It actually looks like a really good and realistic take on teen romance with fleshed out characters. Great video as always!
My thoughts on Oregairu personally are kind of mixed, I guess I view it as how I view the Socrates/Plato/Aristotle line of philosophy, it talks about a lot of big topics very loosely, says some smart things and some dumb things, and in the end you are left with a bit of useful information and a lot of ungrounded fluff. Oregairu uses words like genuine, codependency and others throughout the show but never defines them well, just going with "they are what they are" sort of explanation that makes it hard for me personally to see the value behind even discussing the words.
Well if you try and put the words genuine and sham in out true daily life you'll find meaning to your answer . About the codependency , it's just an obstacle or an excuse that haruno uses in order to make them overly critical and self aware of what they are doing , it's not a thing and the writer also said it's basically BS , heck even the teacher said that it isn't a word that defies their relationship.
@vsalbach As I said before, codependency was just like an obstacle in the main characters eyes that made them not think logically or about how they truly feel . It is not that big tbh . Haruno uses it because that is how she grew up to be and seeing her sister depending on her most of the time . She probably also saw that they are depending on each other and not thinking in their own way which is also another reason why she didn't want yukino depending on them , but that's what friends do right , they depend on each other all the time . And that is why shizuka told him you can't just say that your relationship is based on one word , which made him wake up and realize that he'd been doing things the wrong way .
@vsalbach i sorta agree but that's what.... they kept it very subtle throo hikki, yui, yuki's dialogues.... they let us do 90% of the thinking... which is good and bad at the same time
@vsalbach I mean that is real human growth . We do tend to take time to move on or to accept something or to understand certain relationships . Obviously it's dragged out a little bit here for story and drama elements . But it's still amazing nonetheless and I don't regret watching it .
This anime was my first ever anime that watched and finished it recently but it felt like somthing extremely heavy landed on me...i really felt hachiman and i thank the person who made such character that everyone could feel...thanks this was one of my best experiences... Hope to see more of this anime...

@@HidinginPublic That was *genuine*

Was the usage of Sudoku on purpose?
He was mentally better off in s1
The only reason he changed his entire life philosophy was because he finally received the female attention he had desperate wet dreams for in middle school
If he never left early for his first day in highschool, he would still be the same
And the only reason the girls even know he exists is because of that dog that he saved that 1 time.

"Youth is both a lie and a form of evil. Those that glorify that youth are only fooling themselves and those around them, and believe that their surroundings always affirm their actions. By using the word "youth" they twist and distort common sense and anything logical. For them, lies, secrets, sins, and failures do nothing but add spice to their youth."
I think what Hachiman meant by "youth" is just the outlook of peers around him about life.
Could someone explain to me the "lie" that this relationship was apparently built upon cause no one actually states it
@@Mangotunde the lie was ingenious, their entire relationship was just them ignoring each other's feelings and pretending to remain as they did at the very start because they were all afraid that if any two them got into a relationship, the other one would be left behind
Yet this is the only way to go foward, hachiman himself propogated the lie the most, stopping yui from confessing, unable to respond and forcing all of them to keep it up
In the end when the prom was over and yukino and yui decide to try and settle it, hachiman runs away too, in an effort to find something genuine he became the biggest liar
Thankfully hiratsuka sensei and even haruno all pushed him into the right path, and for him to fully admit his feelings at the bridge, even if it was in a roundabout way.

This anime makes the viewers, or me at least, asking myself wtf is happening. The dialogue is so implicit, often you don't get it clearly what happened to a person. You have to read between the lines. That's so like real life, where people never really tell others what happened to them.

@@gaminf6713 i feel like im still in the process of changing, I’m 15 and ive always been an optimist, thinking everything will be ok but sometimes i start to accept that not everything will be okay. but im young and i dont really know how to process my emotions and how I think. I hope I mature into a better and aware person like you in the future
This a series that meant a lot to me back when I was 16
Same
True
Just finished it and I am 16. 😂
This show showed me everything:
Tears, Heartbreak,Desire, Realisation, Friendship,Bonds and Relationship.
Thank you
SNAFU / OREGAIRU.
Yukino x Hachiman was always my ship from start to finish and after 5 years, I'm glad it finally happened
Thank you, Oreigaru
Yahallo, one last time :)
I would have preferred neither tbh
Yahallo
Damn i really enjoyed the background music, idk why but it felt really fitting.
Thanks for letting me see a similar but different perspective on that story, really appreciate it.
One of the greatest anime’s ever. One of the best protagonists ever and the best waifu ever YUI YUIGAHAMA
Agreed
Toradora
@LopsidedAnxietytoradora
So you like greedy red hair girl.
Because if you think about it, she is THE MAIN ANTAGONIST of the story.
It's a meh harem with a good message about people. 1st season hachiman is the best written character is a long time. It's still a show where the guy picks the 1st female he needs.
I binged it, absolutely beautiful.
Thats actually so sad omg, And the music in the background made me feel it more
Oegairu is truly something
Its so different from other animes
Its a masterpiece.
Oregairu in a nutshell:
A boy who had a past of unloved, loneliness, solitude, bullied, shunned, and heartbroken...learned to understand again the meaning of genuinely loving and caring for someone.

Thank you 🖤🗿
The ending was beautiful. I gotta say, I love the animation from season 2 and 3 at least tenfold compared to season 1
Yeah I remember the initial criticism it got people not liking the more dramatic focus but I think it pairs well with the story and sort of shows the growing up with hachiman as a character too
7 years of waiting for that ending was just worth it for me. Finally can let it go in peace.
I just watched this series. I love how much layer it has each day I am learning about a new layer for this show.
I'm glad that's true too. Hope you enjoyed the series
I experienced a lifetime of emotional highs and lows with this series.
I will miss you Oregairu
12:02 I remember these images all too well, I'm glad I grew out of it
Same. 8t shows the growth of not just hachiman but the viewer
It's sad this show ended, yet I'm happy that both Yukino and 8man found their "genuine" and ended up together.
i was super sad that it ended but it was a great ride that i watched this anime this left a mark on me but i hope they make a ova or a movie about the end of the story with yukino and hachimans relationship and hachiman’s sister going to high school
yeah i know i hope they make a ova as their in there 3rd year
I'm so happy I only recently discovered this anime and didn't wait 5 years for the next season to arrive because I was immediately hooked after season 1.
This anime taught me so much.
Mostly that teacher is best girl
Followed this show for 7 years and when it finally ended, I just wanted to cry.
I'll be honest, season 3 adapted Yui's dcenes from the novel beyond perfectly. But they skimmed almost all of Yukino's scenes or any scenes related to Hachiman's monologues related to his relationship with Yukino.
F
Bummer. I don't have much knowledge of the LN but my friend is diehard into it (he even has a 8man body pillow haha) and he seemed mostly content
Yui getting unecessary amount of screen time made S3 a 6/10 for me.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING BEST BOY
HAPPY THANKSGIVING YUKI
hello yuki
oregairu is the best anime for me and always will be.
oh man, when i really realize what this show is about, something in my head was broken and i kept thinking about my relationships and my connection with people and stuff, i can't get over that thought. A couple of days later, i cried man, i cried to my core soul because i know i didn't have any real connection with anyone in for 2 whole years now. But happily, in that weak moment, i told my friends how i truly feel, and they accepted it. I hope, like Hachiman, to have something genuine with them, to have a strong connection with someone that we can feel our love to each other
P/s: my English is bad, sorry
Finally at last!! Thanks RUclips! For finally letting me enjoy the video I binged 3 seasons to watch!
It was a great video and oregairu was a great show, I feel bad for Yui bc she had to suffer a lot, she knew she couldn't win despite trying so hard. I can relate with Yuki and her feeling of pressuring herself to improve and her feeling like shit for not being able to do things on her own. And it's great to see how much hachiman has grown from 1st season! Thanks for the amazing video Hiding ❤️ hopefully RUclips will put it back on the algorithm after copystricking it
Thanks false! I'm glad you were finally able to see it too. I like Yuki a bunch too, I'm happy to have people who consistently come by and bring a friendly positive air to the streams and am appre- oh in the show? Yeah Yuki in oregairu I think I connect with the most personally. It isn't entering the algorithm as of now but is getting some views so I have hope
My favourite anime of the last 6-7 years, enjoyed the ride. Following finishing oregairu kan I quickly searched youtube for someone covering and talking about the ending as the thirst for more oregairu wasn't quenched yet,
I have come to terms that there will be no more oregairu just like yui coming to terms that she's lost sight of hachiman..
I'll finish these awfully long post with a quote from the anime:
"The present isn't everything, but there are things you can only do now, things you can only find here. It's now. Now or never. Think, writhe, struggle and agonise. If not, what you're going through isn't genuine."
Hope that everyone continues to navigate their own lives as true to themselves as possible, to find something truly genuine and precious to them. Whether it may be a relationship/friendship, fond memories or even a career path in life.
Sorry again for the long post and all the best in your lives everyone!
this anime was the first for months, which actually got me crying. but instead of sad crying, it was actually happy crying. and that is REALLY rare from anime.
Agreed.
And eventually just like Hachiman, with widening experiences with different groups of people in different situations, slowly growing out of some of those childish adolescent thoughts 🤣 What a masterpiece!
wow the title is kinda depressing
The saddest part is that it's true

I finally got to watch your Oregairu videos! Your videos are one of the reasons I started watching the show. A lot of times I watch only your video about a show and not the show itself.
And holy shit I think I need to rewatch oregairu from the start now with my current (relatively) more mature perspective than what I had the 4 years or so ago when I first watched it it's gonna be a trip...
Great video man. Seeing this iconic series come to an end is pretty sad, but I guess you could take something from this show and apply it right here: the experience of watching this, knowing it'll eventually end but still appreciating and enjoying it to the fullest is part is the experience if watching it.
I watched this in my final year of high-school so this hits way too hard
Thank you for this video HiP! Not only has anime helped me grow as a person, but you have too! Keep working hard and thank you for genuine happiness!
Yui Yuigahama lost. But in my heart she's the winner... And will always be the winner. The Best girl.
I saw it coming a mile away but still feel bad for her. Hope she finds her happiness
i knew she was going to, and even though i’d always went for Yukino because she’s my favorite, i love Yui too as a character.
If we’re talking about student characters I was definitely team Yui too (even though I knew she’s gonna lose), but if we’re talking overall :
Sensei is best girl ^^
Season 1 made me love Hachiman
Season 2 made me love the story
Season 3 ...
made me love Yui

Thank you. I needed this video to understand better what were the conclusions of the show, as I didn't have them completely clear.
Rewatching and commenting for the algorithm even though I haven't seen oregairu
Thank you haha
I never knew that I needed to see Yukino in a tux and blue tie till it happened
Yoo! The timing on this background music at 3:38 has synced with Yui’s theme 😭 Tears suddenly took over my eyes aaaaa
@vsalbach
As I said before, codependency was just like an obstacle in the main characters eyes that made them not think logically or about how they truly feel .
@A G N True
I haven't had the time to catch up on the latest season. Be back after I've binged it.
Okidok. Enjoy
Simple one of the best anime that I’ve watched, not gonna lie. 😭
This anime was my first ever anime that watched and finished it recently but it felt like somthing extremely heavy landed on me...i really felt hachiman and i thank the person who made such character that everyone could feel...thanks this was one of my best experiences...
