My husband did this 40 years ago. He put it in the closet behind the clothes. He also made a fake wall behind the clothes to but his rifles. It looked like a built in shelf for shoes. Wonder if the new owners ever found it.
Suddenly all my friends are trying to find an empty outlet at my house to charge their phone..hmmm. Great idea and video. Very practical and well documented steps shown.

Use a coaxial or phone jack. Alot of homes have these laying around that people don't use due to cord cutting. As long as it's placed somewhere that makes sense, no one would ever thing twice.
Saw a video similar to this and when he checked his money a year or so later mice had chewed it up and made a nest in the box. A met al box might work better.
That is great until someone plugs a vacuum cleaner in and when it doesn't turn on, pulls the plug out and the whole unit comes out and voila, stash gone.
Vanessa Lumbra could also put outlet plugs in it or tape and just tell the kids or people who come over it doesn’t work so they don’t try to charge anything or use it.
I was thinking to Bury the money deep down under the ground vacuumed sealed bag. No matter how u hide your cash in the house if house gets burned down there goes your cash..
Here's a good one: ( my own invention ) Find the cold air return in your room. It's about 7-8 feet off the floor. Remove the vent cover. Reach down in the wall about 6 inches and screw a cup hook into the wooden stud. There should be no insulation in the cold air return. Put your valuables in a plastic bag, the kind with handles. Hang the bag by the handles on the hook. Replace the vent cover. A thief would have to have a screwdriver and something to stand on. It's not going to happen unless he knows there is something there. Sleep tight.
I can do this in all the outlets in each room where I removed the old phone lines. Brilliant idea. Should I just put the phone plate back or a blank plate? My girl will discover them if I put a fake plug in them when she cleans.

It seems like every time the box is pulled out, it will wear down the sheet rock. Making it a little less tight fitting, thus not holding close to the wall. 😐
Jacqueline D. That’s not sheet rock. That’s just dry wall. So will ware down wayyyyy faster than sheet rock lbs. you’d have to use a saw to cut through sheet rock. Hence “rock” but your point is valid. I wonder if it’s best used for emergencies rather than a regularly used spot.
Kid: "Hey Grandpa, where can I plug in my phone charge..er... oh, here we go. What the heck?... WOW!! I'm rich!!! hehehe!" (kid scampers off with grandpa's money). Pretty sure carving out the inside of an old book and sticking your money inside is still one of the best tried-and-true methods (which I don't do myself cause money is almost all electronic now). Also, when is the last time you heard of a burglar sitting down for a warm cup of tea and a good book while robbing your house? They don't bother with books, or fake cans of soup that hold money, or little bags under dirt in a plant, etc
I would like to have a a place to put valuable thing that would even be safe if someone else would buy the house and changed stuff in the house. Say for example if I be brain dead for some reason and my family sell the house and I somehow wake up from the coma. So I can go to my old house and ask if I can get something that was left there in a hidden place. I would not make a electronic socket hidden thing because it is changeable. Maybe the new home owner would want to change the electronic socket to some kind of smartplug for example. It has to be a part of something in the house that never will be changed or moved and in the same time easy to access. I have been thinking about this for long time. Hard to come up with something that fits in to this situation.
Hey! You have been thinking of this for a while, hope something comes to mind for you. I would maybe suggest a wall safe in your closet? Good luck with your project! 😀
That is the dumbest thing to ever do for 2 reasons: 1. That "cup" is plastic. 2. When the house catches on fire, that is not fire proof to save your money. You'll lose all that money instantly from fire. Horrible idea. Yes that is a dummy outlet. But fire quickly spreads. I'm never doing that with my money.
Good idea but one problem... FIRE. Any hiding spot should be fireproof. I have a room in my basement that is a dirt floor with concrete walls and roof. FIREPROOF. A PVC pipe could be buried under the dirt floor for more hiding power.
My Grandma always kept her checkbook and wallet in the freezer, nobody is ever going to look in there if they rob your house and it will be safe in a fire.
Or maybe you can take out all the inside parts of a speaker, old TV (whatever) and put things there; sorrounded by other decrepit old objects of no value.
That’s always been a conundrum. Somewhere where fire can’t destroy it, I won’t forget, or if I die family still can access it. If I put it in a metal container with a water bottle over it I’m ok. I used to keep it in my toolbox at work since the box was locked, a limited number of people could even get near it and since we had a navy contract it was locked up in a room on top of that. In an aircraft hangar. But I retired. And I don’t want the wife to know cuz it’ll burn a hole in her brain knowing there’s money. But it’s only for emergencies. So I’m thinking in the attic in a corner in a metal container in a larger metal container with water bottle. But obviously if I die it’ll be there. I’m actually tempted to quietly get a safe deposit box. Or better yet hide it in the safe in the closet. Cuz the floor of safe is thick removable felt. Or tape it to the top of safe. It’s only 1500 dollars in hundreds and fifties. Not the end of the world. But it’s really hard to save money anymore with the cost of things. Government people really screwed the pooch
Smart idea. Or install it in the wall just under the bed/head board and when/if someone walks in and asks what your doing under the bed you could reply oh I’m looking for my shoe or something 🤷🏼♀️😂

Haha, that's totally my mum

Did you not tell them why?.
Suddenly all my friends are trying to find an empty outlet at my house to charge their phone..hmmm. Great idea and video. Very practical and well documented steps shown.
😂😂
It’s all fun and games until someone tries to charge the phone
Good idea but may want to put a closable lid on top in case you have a rat get in wall so it don't make a nest out of your money.
Good thought! Also, make it fire-proof too!
Right, great bedding for a mouse.
Excellent hiding spot. Thieves want to get in and out quick, so they mainly look in drawers.
Your rusty vice, the Mother Of All Rusty Vices was totally amazing. Then the paradox of the blue tape, and the little "dust catcher paper" was so cool. Doctor George Whitehead
Its cool idea....you can use a solid plate cover instead of the outlet 😁👍 Thanks
Ya as soon as some one tries to use it you are discovered. go solid.
Eh?
Where is the camouflage in that?
@@strcat666 battery/solar powered nightlite plugged in would be the ultimate camouflage

Brilliant !!!.. I'd use a double gang box ( more storage ) & keep the locking tabs so it's secure. ♡ the idea tho, thnx
Yes! Good call! Thanks for checking out the video!
What about mice?
Saw a video similar to this and when he checked his money a year or so later mice had chewed it up and made a nest in the box. A met al box might work better.
i wonder how many burglars are watching this right now lol
I hope zero haha thanks for checking out the video!
That is great until someone plugs a vacuum cleaner in and when it doesn't turn on, pulls the plug out and the whole unit comes out and voila, stash gone.
Well if someone that is going to steal from me is nice enough to clean my house they can have it haha! Thanks for watching!!
@@TheFixerHomeRepair good point. I'd still anchor it though. Kids will be kids.
Vanessa Lumbra could also put outlet plugs in it or tape and just tell the kids or people who come over it doesn’t work so they don’t try to charge anything or use it.
The Fixer LOL
Very true
Very cool 😎

My cold air return vents are at floor level, so no luck for me.
This actually helped a lot now I have a place where no one would find my money including me😂
You better hope the rats don’t get it
😮 If you have rats, you have a bigger problem than hiding your $.
Lol I know your hiding spot👍 nice job dude😉
Haha might leave a trap in there. Be careful. 😆
A burglar wouldn't have the time to take the chance investigation all the outlets😎

Thieves and burglars are saying Thank You for the kind info .....🤣🤣🤣🤣
Suppose the house catch on 🔥
Well that would be unfortunate.
Fireproof the cash first
Man this is all cool does that town get cold in winter time what state & town yall live in?
Great idea. This would be hard to do as a lady. Any more brilliant ideas Please?

Im going to try this.
What if I completely forget knowing its somewhere in the house? Oh! I can just put a green arrow on the wall above it. Thank you very much.
This is amazinge
My luck someone would try to plug in something.lol
Haha I hope not!!
I knew of an old lady that when she passed away, they found money and jewelry hidden in a old fashioned douche bag in the bathroom closet.
Now people will know to check all the wall outlets
I’m ready to hide my 18 dollars 💵
No better place than the liter box.
oh boy haha 😂😂

If you no longer have a landline you can use the old phone outlet. No need to cut a new hole. At least the way my house is.
Can you please put your address for me 😂
😂

Great what if they want to vacuum your apartment before they leave. Then they will find out that there is no electricity very smart DUH
Instead of hiding cash, buy gold and silver bars. Much more FIRE resistant.
I love the video especially the extremely loud irritating background music that gave me a headache before I could lower the volume

what happens when paper money goes away.
