Yeah he got freed right before this song. He got knocked out (or something similar) by Skid and Pump. Pico was stuck in an infinite cycle in his mind where he was forced to witness himself in his human life accidentally kill Darnell during the events of the school shooting over and over. But he had woken up, and managed to confront his past self and comforted him to reassure him that it was not his fault. This broke his endless cycle, and he managed to come to terms with himself and what he had done, breaking free from the corruption. That then leads into this song where Pico and the Spooky Kids face off against the rest of the corrupted.
