Thanks for this. Just moving over to affinity product. All these tips help. How would this work on a more intricate image? It does seem a pretty tedious way to make the change. Is there other ways to select a specific colour range like there is in photoshop?
Yes, you could use the Selection Brush tool to create a selection around the area you'd like to change. I have a demonstration of how to use this tool in my video about removing a background with Affinity Photo.
Please please please more affinity tutorials! I love your tutorials! Btw I love your tutorials/designs with Gimp and Inkscape but I really want to learn and use only Affinity, do you think I can create your Gimp and Inkscape designs with Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo?
@@DesignMadeSimple Really? That's something I really wanted to know! Then I'll go with Inkscape! It would be nice if you made an article or video about those features that make Inkscape a more complete application than AD. Because you made a comparison video about them but you say mostly good things about AD and I thought it was better than Inkscape. And on the other hand what about Gimp vs Affinity Photo?
@@DesignMadeSimple HSL will give you the colour change you want. But admittedly it's a lot harder to understand exactly how the tool works. I had to watch a very detailed video to fully understand the tool. The HSL interface needs a rethink.
Excellent tutorial. Trying to learn so please excuse my question for being naïve, but here it is. At 1:14 your directions say to click on "new empty map layer" to place a copy of the original as a sublayer. When I do that I do NOT get a copy of the original (I get a blank gray box instead of the original), but it also does not come up as a sublayer. I tried this with both JPG and PNG files, same problem. Any ideas what I'm doing incorrectly? Using Affinity Photo 2. Thanks!
Why bother using the old fashioned PS method of adding an additional mask when in Affinity all adjustments and live filters are themselves a mask that you can paint in black or white directly onto it.
Another awesome video! Always very clear, easy to follow and without fluff.
yo, dude. i think i love you. *changes colors of EVERYTHING*
Amazing … Thanks for this tutorial 🙏😊👍🏻
Thank you! Thank you for getting to the point! j'adore!
Excellent, thank you
you rock. thank you!!
Hey Nick, what if you have an image of a painting with brush strokes where there are NO solid lines?
Hi, is there a video to demonstrate how to do this in the Affinity Designer program?
When I move the picture after, the recolour does not follow the picture (if that make sens) How do I merge them together?
hi very nice job. lease tell how to change the icc profile of the photo to match.thanks in advance
Does the recolor menu also apply to the affinity photo ipad?

Many of them yes, but Designer does lack a lot of features that Inkscape has. Inkscape is certainly a more complete application.

Excellent video!!!,👍
Thank you! 👍
my layers panel is always missing the adjustments, layers, effects etc so I can't ever follow along very far with so many tutorials
Why can't I get this to work? I tried to follow every step. I compared your Layers panel with mine, they are duplicates.
how set black colour?
I have a question. How come you didn't just do an HSL adjustment?
It doesn't produce the color change I was looking for.
I am certainly not as talented as Nick is - that is for sure. But the HSL would be the easiest way and it works great.

Can you also do this with the designer?

mask layer not map
there's this silly little company that makes a program called After Effects, it has an effect called Change Color, can't this be replicated in Photo?
