    I thought I had done everything needed after upgrading from a 7700X to the 7800X3D, but my CPU latency numbers in iRacing didnt come down much at all which has been in the 8-16 range. I use a RTX3080Ti and its latency numbers are typically 2-6. The result has been that I couldnt run in VR with a Valve Index at over 90 FPS without a lot of FPS drops especially using venues that have been a problem like Mt Washington (endless trees, close up to the road). I just followed this video, step by step, including reinstalling the AMD drivers, and the CPU latency dropped into the 6-8 range. The only obvious change to what I had was setting the power management as recommended in the video to Balanced (it was set to High Performance). Now I am running at 120 FPS with very few FPS drops below 115 .

      Yea it makes sense because x3d is more for gaming and has 2 ccds vs one CCD on 7800x3d.
      For me I would even choose a 7800x3d rather than 7950x3d.
      In my test bench I use the 7800x3d for a reason.
      Good comment

    I managed to snag mine on Prime Day 2024 for significantly less than the 7800x3d, ty for the info. I am pleased w my purchase. Still at $327 as I speak. Less than amazon is charging for 7900x!

    I play games like Tarkov and Rust, but would also like a CPU that doesn't perform poorly like the 7900X3D in productivity apps.
    Found a like new 7900X3D for $460 so I felt like it's a no brainer... 7800X3D is on sale for $420 at microcenter in my area but for an extra $40 I think it makes sense just to go for the 7900X3D.
    It would make sense to get the 7900X3D given it would only be $40 more, right?
    A bit nervous about core parking, game bar etc. but hopefully it works well (=

    THE BENCHMARKS didnt have any comparisons, so they were just numbers with no frame of reference, rendering them mostly uninformative. I cant even cross reference them with benches from another site because they may have different parameters in place, Otherwise great video , thanks

    • @aweeeeeeeeeeeeeful
      @aweeeeeeeeeeeeeful Год назад +1

      Synthetics' had comparisons to other CPU's? Gaming benchmarks here look to be a what you can expect from this CPU. You will never get a truly " cross referenceable " set of gaming benchmarks. Draw your own concussions when making a purchase decision.

    • @WootDini
      @WootDini  16 дней назад +1

      So 7800x3d is going to be better for gaming. Depends what you are wanting to do. They discounted 7900x because of lack of demand. It's still a great CPU.
      Gaming go for 7800 because it's just easier and better. Multitasking etc go for 7900

    Hi Woot! Im moving from am4 to asus x670 e gaming and Ryzen 9 7900x3d or maybe 7900x. About amd drivers, i should use tools from amd to uninstall am4 cpu apps and drivers? Or what? Obviously will keep my GPU. But well. . . What do you recommend to do a part from updating windows first and asus bios if necessary ( new Mobo) ?
    Thanks in advance

      Hello :)
      Best process in my opinion
      Update bios
      Install windows (use the cmd code to install win 11 without internet connection to avoid bloatware)
      Update Windows service pack (as far as possible avoid things you don't need)
      Install chipset drives (AMD website)
      Install GPU drivers ( I recommend not using GeForce experience if you don't utilize the functions, rather just get the vanilla driver from Nvidias site)
      Install motherboard drivers (needed ones only)
      I manually update my driver's and fresh install windows every 4 months or so because I am pedantic about bloatware.
      If you want easy route (with bloat )
      Bios
      Windows update full
      AMD drivers
      Install Armory crate and update all from there
      Hope this helps
