    This video was so interesting Chloe! I loved seeing what you’re bringing for you and baby! What surprises me so much though is the differences between US and UK provided things. My hospital bag literally had only my clothes to come home in and clothes for baby to come home in, a tennis ball for labor massage, chap stick, nursing pillow and a charger. The hospital provided LITERALLY everything else. Water bottles, nipple cream, diapers and wipes, swaddles, clothes and hats for baby, pads, underwear and witch hazel pads for recovery. I mean anything you or baby needed they provided it. I loved this video though and I love all the updates. 🥰

      Hah the difference is that in the US people pay thousands to give birth! Healthcare is free here (yes we pay taxes but it’s nothing compared to health insurance or hospital bills in the US) so hospitals can’t afford to give out so many things for free x

      I was thinking the same thing….I had my child via cesarean in the US even though I’m from the UK. I only had to pay $20 for the cable or phone I don’t recall, insurance picked up the rest. We luckily don’t pay that much for our health insurance due to my husbands company being a dying breed and paying for most of our health insurance..

    How exciting getting all prepared! I’m not near to having children yet but found this video really insightful. I agree as well that having everything labelled is going to be so helpful! Hope it all goes well on delivery day for you x

    It seems like your ready for baby and Archie is ready for guard the baby duty. It’s so important that things are easy and sorted etc and can reused etc (fed up of arseholes today). For example on Monday I’m having pill camera test and will wear pjs as it’s so much easier.

    Hope everything goes well. I had three sections as my first baby was stillborn. You will probably have to stay in longer than 24 hours my shortest stay was two nights and three days after the baby but I was in a night extra before the section as it was cancelled. I hope everything goes smoothly and covid doesn't cause any issues.

      Thank you. They’re getting people out in 24 hours at the moment as long as there aren’t any complications, but I’ve packed enough for a few days just in case 😊

    plain white is just the cutest. My little girl was 8lb 4 and didn’t fit into next first size, as she was too long! She fit into most other newborn but I found next partically short.
    I was SO HOT when I was post partum (night sweats!) and I wish I had taken a handheld fan, honestly would have been a life saver!
    Also, disposable briefs where a godsend, I used a pad, disposable pants and then big pants over the top and felt really secure in that.
    Headphones are great for if you’re on a shared ward and want to watch something on your phone.
    I also much preferred using a scrunchie style band as was softer in my hair when lying down etc xxxxx
    LOVE those little clear bags - so good!

    • @chloeprender
      @chloeprender  3 года назад

      Yes I think baby’s length plays a huge part! I’m hoping our girl will fit into them for at least one wear… as she’s likely to be short like her parents 😂
      Thank you for all the tips! Have noted them down. Headphones were definitely something I meant to pack & totally forgot x

    I really don’t blame you for taking the packet of wipes. I remember taking in the cottonwool balls when I had my first baby. It was a right pain. You go through so many and it takes forever to clean them up especially if there is a nappy explosion. I had my first baby naturally but she was 4 weeks early and wasn’t feeding very well so we had to stay in. I ended up not having enough clothes for her. With my youngest I had a section but was not very well afterwards and bled very heavily and ended up with not enough underwear and pyjamas for me.

    • @chloeprender
      @chloeprender  3 года назад

      The cotton wool just seems like a huge faff, especially after a section & if my husband has to go home. At the moment partners can stay on the ward, but obviously things might change by November/we may not be able to have someone here overnight for the dogs x

    I have to admit I haven’t watched all the way to the end yet I’m at 30:11 and I think it’s 37:42 long but I had a thought….
    As you created this video because you didn’t find many similar videos out there, if possible after the baby is born it would be helpful to come back and make another video on what you really actual used, what was packed for no reason and what you wished you’d packed and didn’t.

    • @chloeprender
      @chloeprender  3 года назад +2

      Yeah I think I mentioned in the beginning of the video that I might do that :)

    Oh yes you need a nightgown as you usually walk to theatre so you need to cover as you will only have a hospital gown on.

    Chloe were you barefooted or socks in the hospital bed

    • @chloeprender
      @chloeprender  2 года назад

      Pretty sure I had socks on most of the time. Barefoot for the section though I think?
