I feel like due to chigiri's whole gimmick the author in the future could probably go against that by letting him be able to see the game in slow motion, so he'd be able to react with precise timing against other speedsters if they put him back as defender in the future U-20 world cup

Reo and chigir are my favorites the character development from them has made them extremely well written and I like their abilities the are very vital in a match especially chigiris speed which is essential on a football squad as a winger or striker and a jack of all trades in the mid field or a striker.

On Chigiri case, it's different, his main point of this formula is that he doesn't want to pass to anybody. He solely run as fast as he can then position himself on his golden zone. In this method alone, he has just diminished some variables which are "off ball movement", "passing", "assist", and "cross" Now, without that variables, his plays become way more one dimensional than ever before, it's more precised yes, but a random weapon is better than a precised one (in this story, but it's still based on my opinion tho')

Outside of the story, talking about external stuff, if I position myself as the mangaka, I can literally give him a bad ending way easier than any other characters, a tragic one without leaving any plot hole. The only shield he has is the fact that he's also "the poster boys" ("important character") of this manga. And that shield itself can be used to make the MC's story becomes way more interesting. What I'm trying to say is, he's the easiest character that can be a sacrificial lamb if the mangaka is stuck and got no idea what to write
