Keep these morning routine videos coming, Miko. They are super helpful. It's those small things like how to categorize transactions like the food expense you used your misc. envelpe for, that confuse people.
I love your honesty and transparency . Your statement, “ I don’t even want to look at it “ really hit home and yet after the weekend and getting back at it’s like rolling up your sleeves and making a decision to get it done . It’s what keeps us accountable and the outcomes are far more beneficial. Thank you for inspiring and teaching us .🙏👏🏽✨🙌🏽💵
Thank you for your honesty. I'm only going to hurt myself (and Future Me) if I pretend certain spending hasn't happened to keep a category lower than is really happening. I need to act like a grown-up and either cut spending in a category that feels outta control (for me, it's buying things for my classroom!), or do a better job cutting other places so this category can happen as it's actually happening. No surprises.
miko, my mom died in my arms on Aug 12 i am so sorry for your loss for the first time-because of your morning videos-i am budgeting using your planner can’t wait for the new ones i ordered to arrive ❣️
I had $0 spending this weekend. My Hubby took $100 cash for a guys fishing day, and I cooked their food before they left. I bought lunch today, so after that entry, I can close out the budget tonight! 🎉🎉
How do you track expenses that you put on your credit card (to get the points). For example, I spend $100 on Amazon for gifts & $30 at the grocery store today. Then next week I pay my credit card $130. The $130 is what will show on my bank statement on the day I pay it. Do I enter it on my expense tracker the day I made the purchase or when I paid the credit card? And if it's the day I pay it and the $$ comes out of my account, I assume I would put in 2 lines...one for gifts and one for food. Correct? This always confuses me.
I don’t know if I’m doing it right, but it works for me. I have a page called credit cards and I list every purchase for what it is, in your case, $100 for gifts and $30 for food. It’s dated the day I spent it. The way my credit card is set up, some of my expenditures from this month will be paid in full next month. I just keep a running tally of everything. I spent by category on a page called credit cards and then at the end of the month, I put a total amount in and I call it transfer which is an uncounted line. The following month when I pay the credit cards, and I pay them in full, That payment is also a transfer line, and not counted because you don’t want to count the purchase twice. You want a record of what it was, food and gifts. Some people pay weekly so that the expense and the payment Are in the same week, but that was just too much work for me. As I mentioned, I pay off my credit cards in full and's carry no debt so as long as I categorize the payments as transfers, the only counting of the purchase is by category on the credit card Expense Tracker. Does this make any sense at all?
@@Krys72599 So you have a separate Credit Card Expense Tracker where you track those expenses when they occur but then when you pay it, you don't count it. What is the 'transfer' that you do at the end of the month? Is that on the tracker? That's the one part I can't picture.
@@Krys72599 I think so. So, you keep a separate tracker for credit card expenses. At the end of the month, the 'transfer' on that tracker is what? Is that you transferring sinking fund $$ to your checking account to cover those expenses? So you account for it in the month you actually incurred the charge, not when you paid it. That makes sense. Thank you!
Are the budgeted amounts for each category the same every month? Also I paid some expenses today and they probably wont get cleared/posted before the 1st, should I track it in the new month?
I only track expenses that clear. I don't track expenses that are pending. So yes, for me, I would track them in the new month if that's when they clear
Question. So I was paid on the 9/27, would I use the budget by paycheck for October month since that paycheck would mostly go to October bills? And track it for October expenses ?
It depends on your tracking period. Since my tracking period is the 1-last day of the month, I just track income/expenses accordingly. The money you have in your account on 10/1 is your starting balance, so even if you pay bills in October with September's money, that's still being tracked!
Help Miko! My last paycheck for September was the 27th. I’m unsure how to budget this as I don’t know if this should go towards September’s budget or October’s budget. Any tips, please? TY in advance.

I DO! TRUST ME! Keep them. Scan them onto a thumb drive or hard drive. You can look back and see your progress. There have been so many times I have been motivated after looking at mine!

"Yes, I did, Yes I did" that made me giggle. Love it!!
On my Miko this is helping me so much! I never documented any miscs expenses as what I actually spent it as🤯this is good.
I'm so glad you're finding this helpful!!!!
Love your authenticity Miko ❤💵❤

Girl, no judgement whatsoever! Please tell me you're using the McDonald's app to get rewards! LOL Great close out!
The Mc Donald's transaction in your BBP needs to be changed from $22 to $28.

@@thebudgetmom I figured that may be the way to do it. Thank you again.
Do you keep, your old budget books? I’m thinking of tossing them because it is the past, and I like to keep things at home simple.

do you still sell the mini workbook box ?
If you are referring to the Boxed Sets, unfortunately, we discontinued those!😭
@@thebudgetmom aww ok yes I was
