DEPARTURE FROM PHUKET Airport - Check-in to Boarding with a Tour of the Airport

- We are at Phuket International Airport (HKT) on the island of Phuket in Thailand. This video documents an international departure flight from Phuket Airport. The video footage starts where Traveller Channels, Maxi and Maro have just arrived at the Airport at Terminal 1 (Departure Terminal) with a taxi. Before entering the airport all passengers have to pass through a security check where all the passengers luggage's are scanned.2
After passing through this security control we realize that the check in counter for our flight is located at Terminal 2 which lies next to this terminal a short indoor walk away. We then begin the walk to Terminal 2 where we discover that the check-in area is located downstairs which means that we must take the elevator down as our luggage is too heavy to carry down on the stairs. Once we get down to the check-in area we quickly find our check-in desk for our Thomas Cook flight to Copenhagen. Once we have checked in for our flight we once again must make our way back upstairs in the same direction, as this is where we will pass one more security control and immigration. After passing security control and immigration (which we are not allowed to film) we give the viewer a tour of the Phuket Airport International Departure lounge. This lounge is not very big by an "International Departure Lounge" standard but still offers passengers a selection of restaurants, Business Class Lounges, cafe´s, kiosks, fast food restaurants, souvenir shops, duty free shops and even a massage salon! Viewers are given a tour of this departure lounge where we aim to try to show the prices of food and drinks (snacks) at this airport. We found, like all other airports around the world, that prices where generally very overpriced compared to the local high street prices in Thailand! Once we have showed the viewer around the departure lounge, we make our way downstairs to our Gate 66. Embarkation for our flight will take place from the tarmac which means that we will be driving to our aircraft by bus...

Yes i know. Been on Phuket, Patong and Kata Beach for the last 10 years in the Winter.Allways good to se videos of the Island. Like your comment. I bought the Panasonic, but i dont think my wife take alle the luggage.Regards.

Hi there RVN, we enjoy staying at Patong Beach as it is very central. It seems that the Finns agree as we have never heard so many Finns in that area as we did in December/January. Maro is Finnish by the way ;-D
+Traveller Yeah they say it's the new Play del Ingles these days, haha! My family and I stayed at Kamala Beach back in 2007. I liked it there since it was great for relaxing but on my next trip I want a little better selection of restaurants. I find Patong a bit too busy for me so it'll most probably be either Karon or Kata Beach :D
Karon and Kata are fantastic too! Next year we plan to try Krabi :-D
I will depart from this Airport on thursday with Turkish airlines to istanbul

Thanks for the kind words Steve :-D We try to film these vids in a POV (Point of View) perspective as much as possible so that people can experience the place as if they are there themselves. Our hope is that it gives people a feeling of how it is / what to expect if they are travelling there, or a detailed tour for somebody who does not have the opportunity to visit the place and is interested to have a look around. This footage is filmed with our 4K cam, but in the future we will probably film these walking tours in HD as the 4K resolution is far too sensitive to movement and has trouble focusing. We wish you both all the best for 2016 too!! :-D

It is a rather busy airport with aircraft coming and going on a regular bases and only having one runway! Plenty of charter and also route flights. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year to you!
Thanks for the great video! Me and my wife are flying to Phuket in September 2016, hopefully the airport upgrades are finished by then (if they aren't already!). Airport prices are typical, if I think of what they charge in South African airports, it's much the same!

Glad to hear it helped. Please be aware that they have opened a new terminal since this video, this this may not necessarily be your terminal for departure. Nevertheless Phuket Airport is not very big, so you should be able to find your way around, otherwise there is always somebody to ask! Have a lovey journey! :-D

Thanks CSpotting! As far as we know it is only at Phuket Airport (at least in Thailand). We where once told that this first scan is a check to see whether you have bought any antiquities etc. that may not leave the country, not sure if that is correct but it would makes sense. Interesting video Maxi. My gf and I were in Phuket airport last year ago for fly back to Don Mueang on Thai Smile A320 sharklets. Phuket is more farang(Foreigners) for the beach and seafood.
