I got this during their Kickstarter and I use it every day for Yerba Mate at home or a loose leaf tea. I also take it camping while hanging out with my bushcraft buddies as we make campfire coffee and there's no filter involved. The JoGo means works perfect to save me from the grit.
That is a cool gadget. Many many times I've burst a tea bag or paper coffee filter and have had to pour my brew through another strainer. Thanks for the demo. That is a useful product.
Yerba Mate Bombilla drinking straws are available as well for what seems to be a much less expensive price. I have a few of them and they seem to work well. As far as the grinds go, that is why when drinking Yerba Mate it is tipped so the grinds settle to one side and straw is kept to the other.
I don't have a true bombilla but I understand the holes on this version are much smaller. If an original one works for you, great. Thanks for commenting
I've been drinking mate for nearly two decades, this works far better. In practice, yes, the mate is on an angle but it pretty much always levels out and buries the bombilla. This will still plug if you just drop mate into the gourd so you still prepare the gourd the same way but there's no comparison between this and traditional bombilla, this is better.
My wife bought me one of these as a birthday gift last year. Its great! For mornings where I'm short on time I can turn on the electric kettle, have boiling water in a couple minutes, and have coffee ready for on the road. Only thing is Ill occasionally forget I have left the brush inside it and only remember after I finish drinking my entire coffee. lol.
I love the simplicity of it. Great video. Also if you had to boil some very unappealing dirty water to sterilize it you could use this to filter out any solids.
We trust that you will find a creative way to combine the JoGo and your suggestions for a pocket bellows from long ago, making for a more efficient pack load. Thanks Mark.
The straw, with its crimped end, is already shaped for use as a pocket bellows, with or without the silicone mouthpiece. I have made my own PB with a crimped piece of copper tubing, and the length of the straw should work to nurture a coal into lighting a bird’s nest with no problem. With care, you wouldn’t even have to remove the silicone piece.
That's awesome! Had no clue something like this existed. I just ordered a yerba mate tea filter straw cuz this is still rather expensive. thanks a bunch!!
Fun review, I love all the ways people come up with making coffee. The Canadian Amazon lists it at $58 while the US Amazon lists it at $25? I have been making coffee concentrate using an Aeropress and carry a small bottle of that with me. It is a lot more convenient to add some to a cup and dilute with boiling water than to bring grounds I will have to pack back out.
Another outstanding video Mark ‼️Very interesting and practical device indeed. Loved hearing about the history behind it. Most Countries in South America love their tea’s for sure. Thank you so much for sharing this information and this innovative product. Take Care 👍🏻🇺🇸
Great item Mark, thank you for sharing. Perhaps you will make a home made version one day using those reusable stainless steel straws and a small mesh strainer
Wouldn’t the coffee grounds over extract being the grounds stay in so long. Seems the coffee would get extremely bitter or sour or something at some point as it’s being drank.
Yes, over extraction can be an issue. To get the best result, I have had to adjust roast, grind size and amount of coffee. This is most like a French Press where the second cup is often stronger that the first. Thanks for commenting
Thanks for sharing. Very interesting. How about a Titanium version for us weight concious. Or ditch the straw and use the cotton bag to put the ground coffee in, cinch it up and dunk it into your hot (not boiling) water. Thanks again, take care Best regards Colin
@@MarkYoungBushcraft well the whole idea is grate, hence its estsblished use. Doubtless the water has the best chance to be infused with flavour, even as you drink. G'gay Mark, interesting history of the device and I'm with ya on land management. Sure beats carrying around a plunger, never going to run out of paper filters either. + ease of cleaning and those other uses too = a very worthy bit of kit. I will be checking out amazon, see if I can get one down here in oz. Thanks for showing it mate. Cheers Duke.
Much better than using your teeth as the filter! Very cool device and way past overdue idea. Reminds me of the old glass see though fuel filter for cars we use to buy. And yes I've watched many Alaska TV shows to know that native people are one with their land.

A gift for someone who has everything else. A Great cause for sure,, and with their profit margin, probably high,, they should donate back. Looking forward to Your Pemmican recipe and Video,,, Joshua
At $58.00 probably not but at $24.00 I likely would. I just paid considerably more for a French Press on Indigogo I am waiting to receive. Coffee drinking is addictive
@@HarshmanHills You could do it either way. I drink my coffee black. When I use the JoGo, I actually use it to stir the coffee grounds into the water. I let it rest a bit before drinking
The Jogo website sells this for around $24.,,, Amazon has it listed for $58.,,, Priced at $24.,, I would definitely be more inclined to buy this product,,,
When it comes to drinking coffee in the outdoors, would you say it’s the "last straw?" I guess you could say, it makes it easier to go on a rampage …………😩 sorry. This is definitely a lot easier then bringing other filter systems. To bad you couldn’t use a life straw…….😘👉🏻🇺🇸🇨🇦👈🏻
I spoke with the company owner about the cost in Canada. He was unaware and is trying to get it adjusted. You may want to check out the company site. Thanks for commenting
Looks to be an amazingly simple but apparently quite effective device for minimalist type coffee drinkers who value sludge free coffee.
Hi Lonnie. Good to hear from you. Now if this was made in titanium it really would be a minimalist item. Thanks for commenting

What a great & simple product! My only critique: is it strange drinking hot coffee through a straw? It seems weird; I’m sure I’d get used to it.
My first few sips felt strange and I almost burnt my mouth. Once I got used to it, it seem natural. Thanks for commenting
I keep this straw with my carbon fiber and titanium coffee hand grinder. keeps my gear weight low and loving it.

I don't think you have to replace the staw filter, it's made of stainless steel mesh
You could use that at home if you have a tendency to make chewy coffee.
LOL... can't be too strong, right?
Nice Idea

yes, sugar, milk whatever. As long as it is dissolved

anything is possible
About as many people who scald their tonsils drinking standard coffee.
I say this as someone most certainly in that demographic. 🙂
solves a problem that doesn't exist in my world lol.
Good idea. But I don’t like drinking coffee through a straw. So not for me.
Took a bit of getting used to but is natural to me now. Thanks for commenting
Not necessary for freeze dried coffee.
true
Making lukewarm and cold coffee in a winter camp will not make one popular.
