PoDH actually if I remember correctly they were specifically upgraded to Fast Battleships which are still Battleships but better suited for carrier escort but those 2 ships still should have avoided the newer South Dakota which carried 1 more gun than they did but SD’s guns were also bigger
If i recall correctly, South Dakota's crew made a crucial mistake by accidentally shutting off the power to the entire ship. They couldn't steer, move, or even fire back. Yet she still survived the beating. Thanks to Washington pulling off, what i think might be the longest flanking move in history.

It's a shame that Alabama seems to be a more of an upgrade over Washington But on the PvP front the synergy is really underappreciated, especially if you abuse the retreat to see the enemy formation you can reposition South Dakota in front of say Nagato, Hood, farthest away from Warspite, or just a place where the tanky ship can tank the most, but also help proc Washington. It helps keep the backline alive for longer to get off more damage. Plus if RNG favors you, it's also a free barage with extra damage from Washington and a Double Damage from South Dakota
While Im leveling my alabama skill to the max I'll still be using her as my main USS barrage BB she's been my work horse since her release I just wish her a fine retirement after the alabama project
Btw her and SoDaks skill and some of SoDaks voice lines allude to the fact that at Guadalcanal Washington got all the credit for outgoing damage but SoDak took all the damage for her.

Am I the only newb, that overlooked how dd/cl guns supposed to work on backline? I thought, faster is better. But then I noticed, that suicide boats don't come "that" much, and there's better chance for them to be destroyed with CL armaments if "insert bb here" can fire more than one time at the target that slipped through. Question: When preparing against Torpedo planes (such as from Centaur), is it generally better to equip some anti-air auxiliary (e.g. Air Radar) or Anti-Torpedo Bulge (-30% to torp dmg)? I wasn't sure if Anti-Torpedo Bulge works on torpedoes from planes or not, or just from sea ships/subs.
I believe those are still air plane-based attacks, damage is still based on your Anti-Air stat. The higher the Anti-Air, the less damage taken. (You can also argue dodge can mitigate all damage)

@@Hawk2zer0 I wasn't sure if AA vs AVI was only relevant to shooting down the Torp planes before they launch, but once they are in the water, I wasn't sure how the Torps were treated. Now as for Centaur, for some reason it seems she just spawns torps traveling in a criss-cross pattern out of nowhere. Strangely, I don't think it's on her skill list, so I'm not sure if they are somehow based off her Torp plane, or something else.
@@naejin it should be based on her red skill. As for AA...iirc every 150 AA is considered 100% more health against air attacks (part of the reason Sandy v Enterprise is a thing)
so..as a active user of Washington let me tell ya...she freaking hurts. I use her (And north Carolina) on my main fleet, "Eagle fleet" as I have named it, mainly cause it's a all Eagle union fleet, and planned to replace them eventually with Georgia and NJ...but I gotta say....They've grown on me. I like there skills, there character, and the damage they do. I've even considered oathing Washington. That should say a lot about her.
I switched to stream heavy to accomodate people while everyone was in lockdown. With things slowly down now...I'll be switching over to video focus again.
Something to keep in mind that she's a sort of old unit (her EN/JP debut was some months after her CN one), but if you're taking on W12/W13 she's a solid choice. And the whole WaSD build had gone out of style by the time she hit EN/JP (in part due to Japan having Nagato) In their initial release, her and North Carolina seemed made to sync up very well with SoDak, and did so to the extent that one of North Carolina's skills had to be changed (EN got her post change)

Power creep. . . if only they woud change her SoDa skill like they did for NoCa's where it just gives a flat buff and doesnt need special requirments. North Carolina's old skill was South and North themed where if you had SoDa and NoCa together it would increase NoCa's dmg but now its AA converted to FP so I hope Washi gets something like that or just the old NoCa skill so SoDa doesnt have to be near dead. . .
It depends on the scenario. In plane hells, North Carolina can be really strong. In normal scenarios, Washington can be reliable alongside South Dakota as well.
It’s funny that in PvP a lot of people use Enterprise with Washington and South Dakota, seeing as if I remember correctly, all three of them all fought to together in a battle or two in real life.
Well because that's pretty much the only good combination if you try to use Washi & Dakota combi and also a pretty good vanguard that can deal good damage and can survive pretty long. So Enty,Dakota,Washi & Belfast,Ayanami,Helena pretty much is the most basic team composition when using Washi & Dakota combination.
Haru Usami I know that too of course, I’ve been playing for almost a year now, I just find the coincidence of that team being the best for WaSD and that being an IRL team-up to be interesting.
This might sound crazy but I got you a good idea for a PVP battle. North Carolina,Georgia and Enterprise at the back line,San Diego+Seattle+Montpelier at the front. I've been using Montpelier a lot and she is a light cruiser and she still has more HP than most of my heavy cruisers (London retrofit for example),plus she's most of the times my top dmg dealer. I would also want to see a video of yours using Jintsu+Laffey instead of Ayanami.I still believe that Laffey is the strongest DD out there,she has an AP shell barrage and her TRP can be boosted if needed with a Character like Jintsuu or Noshiro ,or even both,since both of these two Japanese ships have low FP (almost equal to Laffey if you keep in mind that Laffey is a DD).Thanks for the informative videos though!

Now here's the things, when you look for a third backline ship to go with a synergic couple and you don't have or cannot think of any suitable one, you go with Enterprise 🤣. For ex, when there wasn't Nagato, we saw a lot of Akaga + Enterprise. And... that's it :))
I'm personally more interested in the divergeant chessboard, I want quite a few of the ships in there. Bismarck made a german fleet pretty much capable, I just need to fil it with the better ships of that faction ( though roon is rocking that role right now). Btw her and SoDaks skill and some of SoDaks voice lines allude to the fact that at Guadalcanal Washington got all the credit for outgoing damage but SoDak took all the damage for her.

Am I the only newb, that overlooked how dd/cl guns supposed to work on backline? I thought, faster is better. But then I noticed, that suicide boats don't come "that" much, and there's better chance for them to be destroyed with CL armaments if "insert bb here" can fire more than one time at the target that slipped through. Question: When preparing against Torpedo planes (such as from Centaur), is it generally better to equip some anti-air auxiliary (e.g. Air Radar) or Anti-Torpedo Bulge (-30% to torp dmg)? I wasn't sure if Anti-Torpedo Bulge works on torpedoes from planes or not, or just from sea ships/subs.
I believe those are still air plane-based attacks, damage is still based on your Anti-Air stat.
The higher the Anti-Air, the less damage taken.
(You can also argue dodge can mitigate all damage)

@@naejin I'd have to thoroughly test it...I never did see anything on this, but my base assumption is that it is aviation based...so it should be AVI vs AA
@@Hawk2zer0 I wasn't sure if AA vs AVI was only relevant to shooting down the Torp planes before they launch, but once they are in the water, I wasn't sure how the Torps were treated.
Now as for Centaur, for some reason it seems she just spawns torps traveling in a criss-cross pattern out of nowhere. Strangely, I don't think it's on her skill list, so I'm not sure if they are somehow based off her Torp plane, or something else.

As for AA...iirc every 150 AA is considered 100% more health against air attacks (part of the reason Sandy v Enterprise is a thing)

so..as a active user of Washington let me tell ya...she freaking hurts. I use her (And north Carolina) on my main fleet, "Eagle fleet" as I have named it, mainly cause it's a all Eagle union fleet, and planned to replace them eventually with Georgia and NJ...but I gotta say....They've grown on me. I like there skills, there character, and the damage they do. I've even considered oathing Washington. That should say a lot about her.

Something to keep in mind that she's a sort of old unit (her EN/JP debut was some months after her CN one), but if you're taking on W12/W13 she's a solid choice. And the whole WaSD build had gone out of style by the time she hit EN/JP (in part due to Japan having Nagato)
In their initial release, her and North Carolina seemed made to sync up very well with SoDak, and did so to the extent that one of North Carolina's skills had to be changed (EN got her post change)
Sometimes it's okay to put a barrage BB in the spot below flagship. (Big Seven [US+UK]) They synergize well with their large wave barrages.

North Carolina's old skill was South and North themed where if you had SoDa and NoCa together it would increase NoCa's dmg but now its AA converted to FP so I hope Washi gets something like that or just the old NoCa skill so SoDa doesnt have to be near dead. . .

It depends on the scenario.
In plane hells, North Carolina can be really strong.
In normal scenarios, Washington can be reliable alongside South Dakota as well.

It’s funny that in PvP a lot of people use Enterprise with Washington and South Dakota, seeing as if I remember correctly, all three of them all fought to together in a battle or two in real life.
Well because that's pretty much the only good combination if you try to use Washi & Dakota combi and also a pretty good vanguard that can deal good damage and can survive pretty long.
So Enty,Dakota,Washi & Belfast,Ayanami,Helena pretty much is the most basic team composition when using Washi & Dakota combination.
Haru Usami I know that too of course, I’ve been playing for almost a year now, I just find the coincidence of that team being the best for WaSD and that being an IRL team-up to be interesting.

This might sound crazy but I got you a good idea for a PVP battle. North Carolina,Georgia and Enterprise at the back line,San Diego+Seattle+Montpelier at the front. I've been using Montpelier a lot and she is a light cruiser and she still has more HP than most of my heavy cruisers (London retrofit for example),plus she's most of the times my top dmg dealer. I would also want to see a video of yours using Jintsu+Laffey instead of Ayanami.I still believe that Laffey is the strongest DD out there,she has an AP shell barrage and her TRP can be boosted if needed with a Character like Jintsuu or Noshiro ,or even both,since both of these two Japanese ships have low FP (almost equal to Laffey if you keep in mind that Laffey is a DD).Thanks for the informative videos though!

Why Washington + SouthDakota + Enterprise? Now here's the things, when you look for a third backline ship to go with a synergic couple and you don't have or cannot think of any suitable one, you go with Enterprise 🤣. For ex, when there wasn't Nagato, we saw a lot of Akaga + Enterprise. And... that's it :))

Nagato. The Barrage alone make sure dominate against most shipgirls. Her IJN buff only sweetens the deal when using IJN heavy fleets.
