there are different units of special forces in australia, 2nd Commando Regiment, The SASR and RAAF 4SQN CCT's. Commandos work in large platoons and nowadays act as a domestic CT force, the SASr would be what you are talking about, they work in small teams over long periods of time in locations which no other forces would go

And the SASR does work in smaller groups though but I don't think a lot of people arent willing to work for them for their recent actions.
