Your advice is valuable to me as a never married, 52 year old childless Black Lady and woman.
Before you think you can't settle for less keep in mind the other isn't settling for less either if that's the ego doctrine you worship. It's a zero sum game that gets you nowhere in marriage, and if by accident or misjudgement they settle for you, down the line they will walk out anyway because blackmail is an evil weapon they use to exploit you. Toxic Human Ego is a poison you should should have detoxicated from way before marriage and replaced it with realistic marriage enhancing wisdom and mutually beneficial Marriage values. Marriage is not for toxic ignorant fools following foolish selfish and useless worldly doctrines with no basic knowledge on what marriage is for and how healthy marriage is developed. Never marry a fool, they are there for only their own interests both known and hidden. They assume marrying you is favour they are doing for you and you are their domestic , social, financial and material slave for that favour they think they are doing for you. Not everyone is developed for marriage keep that wisdom close to you.

Let these men step up and be men. I heard a maintenance man telling his buddy that he needed to make a decision about which woman to marry. They were both good women. He just couldn't decide.

As a Christian woman, I have a desire to date God's way. I desire a husband...a Godly husband...but there are some men (even some Christian men) who believe that, if they don't get sex, they walk away. Some men (in general) believe that if you aren't spending money on them, you're not worth it. If that's the case, I just might remain single...and even though I have a desire to be married, I'm okay if I'm not! God bless you, Bishop 😇🙏🏾
Agreed, just ended a relationship because of this he wanted sex before marriage and said he dosen't see the problem. We were dating for marriage but i also didn't marry him because he didn't see that he is to be the head of the family and needed to be more spiritually mature. He also was not financially stable . He was a good man and treated me like a princess though but I could see there would be division in our family if we had kids.
As a man anytime anyone starts by defining that they are a Christian usually means they follow what they choose from the Bible. They rarely follow the guidelines in totality….. You normally want what works for you man or woman & you exempt what you want to as well…TRUST ME I KNOW & IM ALSO A CHRISTIAN

This basically is keeping a man from sinning against himself. Sexual immorality is probably the worst outside of drugs. By committing himself to one woman it pleases God because this man is showing God what was ordained from the beginning. One man one woman one flesh. By doing so he obtains favor from the lord by receiving the heritage of the lord which is children.

The reason for that is you have a lot of chicken eating preachers who happen to be indoor pimps. They are “married” but still have access to the single women. They say they want these women married, but they teach “ the gift of singleness “ in the wrong context. Men know a pimp when they see one.

The church has stigmatized that if both the man and women are saved then it will work… that is definitely a good start but we must look deeper..!! That’s why there’s more divorces in the church than the world because we only assessed the individual’s church mannerisms and not for what we want and need in a spouse outside the church! There’s a lot more hours in the week outside of church than inside..IJS…lol! This is why you don’t rush into marriage. Date and get to know that person, their family and friends. If they’re worth marrying they will wait and have patience. Don’t ignore obvious signs! And don’t think you can change who a person is. This is a big one…..be willing to accept whoever you marry for who they are because that’s what you want them to do concerning you. Be real.

I was beat down and abused before I ever left home. I never thought anyone would ever want to marry me. I wasn't brought up in a Christian home. I didn't know what was expected. I was desperate for love and attention so I took it from wherever I could get it. Never had a good man. Now that I am 65 years old I finally found him in Jesus Christ. I pretty much don't want a relationship anymore. That's just where I am. Sometimes Id like to be close to someone but for the most part no. It would take away from the time I spend serving God and getting closer to Him. I'm at peace

Marriage is honorable, the men want sex even in God's house before they marry you. Several have many kids from days of there youth. We are willing to submit to a husband who is submitted to God. Other barriers include poor health, mental illness, insecure men. It will truly take miracles for God to orchestrate marriages.
Facts. Some men hide a great deal of who they really are and then after they have you hooked, their true personality and deep seated issues start to surface. Ive been there and its not fair. 😢

Some women don’t want to be in partnership with a good man, they want to be the head of the house. Men don’t want to live with a sharp tongue either. But some men just look at the outside of the package and don’t look on the inside at the goodness of a woman.

I was just commenting on another platform that too many churches idolize marriage. Don’t get me wrong. Godly and healthy marriages are a blessing. But, singleness is also a blessing when you live a life devoted to the Lord. There’s not enough teaching about how to navigate life as a single person (as noted in 1 Corinthians 7:8, 32-35) besides preparing to be a spouse and courting/godly dating. There are people (ahem) who are called to be single for a season or for a lifetime. They need to be ministered to as well.

We need MORE thriving marriages, families, kids, ect, but we have strayed so far from the Bible. The reason that marriage is an important thing to preach is because Lord knows we ALL like to have sex and lack self control at times. So the word says rather than burn with desire, get married. 1 Cor 7:9 In other words if you have a high sex drive, then you ought to be married so you won't sin in that area. I believe that covers 90% of us even though we too scared to admit it.

I have two Black daughters. One is married to a white, Christian man and the other is dating a white guy at her college. They are both modest, strong women. The one who is married with three children is SUPER strong willed with a type A personality. My second is sweet and sensitive with a lot of confidence. All of my children are confident leaders woth strong wills. My former husband and I co-parented after our divorce and I have not remarried despite four proposals. He is on his third wife and they are living separate lives because he doesn't want another divorce. After my oldest daughter got married, he called me and apologized for his part in causing our divorce and admitted that he has reaped how he treated me with both his other wives. I guess he was hoping that by apologizing, his current wife would start treating him better. I am now living in Spain and was pursued within my first month of living here.
So to attack Black women as if other women don't have the same exact dispositions and behaviors, or as if no men want to be with Black women is shady and says more about the men making these claims. You probably don't even know that many women from other cultures. You're just regurgitating orher people's claims or images from TV...kind of like how all Black men are broke, angry, and violent gang-bangers, right?
Your issue is🦝. Don't worry about the men's comments. The problem is rebellious black women who'd rather lay up and get pregnant by the same 1 or 2 bums in the community. The check is overrun with feminists the same way everywhere else is. But the time of that is about to be up.

I’m a black man who went to private schools, so I grew up around a ton of non-black women. I can say with 100 percent certainty they tend to be higher quality than black women. Statistics bear my experiences out because black woman are at the top of literally every negative metric.
You literally couldn’t pay me enough to date or marry an American black woman.

Most of the men in church are senior citizens. There is no real reason to preach married because men are the ones that do the proposing.
However what does the woman bring to the table besides cooking and cleaning? Church girls who have no exposure to anything are boring, all they can talk about is church stuff. Men like me need intellectual stimulation, I don't want a woman who agrees with all of my opinions, I like some vinegar in my greens too. If the man has a great career but becomes disabled or passes away, what skills do you have that are marketable enough to sustain a family?
One answer to the question, from a Biblically perspective is: The Spirit (of God) says that in the latter times, some will depart from THE faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, forbidding to marry.(Read 1st Tim.4:1-3)
And in the last days perilous (dangerous) times will come: For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, and a list of other characteristics. (Read 2nd Tim.3:1-5) But notice the 6th & 7th verse: For of this sort (lovers of themselves, lovers of money) are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts (by their own desires), always learning (doctrines of demons) and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth (concerning the doctrine of Christ). Which is evident throughout social media platforms.

Young ladies please don't waste your 20's on the things that don't line up with marriage if you're looking for that life style.As you can see the men that most women want is not interested in women over 29yrs.
They don't make Black women like that no more pastor. It's 2024. Modern black women weren't raised to be wives, and they do not desire marriage. They desire partnerships, which are highly conditional and distinctly different from marriage, not biblical. When we have these communications, we should have them honestly, and they should be truthful. Pandering to black women in your congregation only gets you continued contributions and membership.🤔
There should be more education on marrying the right person that we are truly compatible with mind, body, spirit and soul. Actually spend time in prayer and fasting and let God reveal the person to you first instead of looking at someone first and getting caught up and then begging God to let them be it. There's a difference.
Most of their black men are not prepared to marry and handle husband/father responsibilities but go around making women pregnant, sometimes two, three, four women and they don't support them kids either. Result is lots of single mothers and most single men without kids of their own don't want to marry single mothers and take care of kids of other men. There you have it!

Very true!!!!!! It would be great for future generations if young women in their twenties say no to men who don't at a minimum give them a house or a place to live before having sex and making babies. The problem is women want love and a lot of men tell good lies and pretend to be in love to get sex. It is a cycle that continues for each generation.

Can't you see they have enemies that are dead jealous, working against them, who would rather die than to see black women happy?
There are several reasons. 1) There are not as many single, godly men as there are women. 2) Many of us know our worth and are not willing to settle. 3) Some men can’t handle a strong black woman. 4) Some women can’t or won’t submit.
I'd advise you to remove the word "strong" when describing black women. From my experience, when a man says he wants a strong woman, it means that he wants a woman he doesn't have to treat delicately. Where I come from men need strong women to make them go through hardships, while they want femininity when they want to pamper a woman.
Where I come from “strong” means strong. Thats whats wrong with some of these men. They want a weak woman that allows them to not stand up and be who and what they need to be. I’d advise you to understand that our experiences are different and this is my opinion of why black women are not married. Thank you.

Most churches have more women, and receive most of their financial support from women. Thus, passes are very careful about telling women about themselves.

We are living in the last days how about we talk about getting our souls right with God before it’s too late. In heaven their will be no spouses only brothers and sisters in the Lord. Christ was one of the greatest man that walked the earth and he accomplished all that was require of him without a spouse. There are some sisters that are diligently waiting for the Lord to bring them a husband, while serving the Lord. Then you have some that don't how to be nor don't want learn how to be a wife, they just want a husband. And brothers can spot them a mile away and run when they see them.

I met a Christian sister and laid it out on the table about my life, calling etc etc. I specifically stressed that there would be no hanky panky before marriage. No testing,or tasting, maybe a kiss on the jaw. She started asking me was I gay,or go both ways. I blocked her. I told her I fast and pray to keep myself disciplined before the Lord. She act like I was speaking in tongues or something. I told her I cast out demons and I would need to teach her along these lines, and once again she thought I was having a Pentecostal moment. Ughhhh, it's hard in these churches for a preacha 😅😅

In my youth, black men in my life said white men would only lord over a black woman. Men of other races did not approach us much. Then our men dated the lightest women they could find. In our 60s many have white women.

Most single black men and struggling financially and they can't afford to support a wife. However, the vast majority of brothers with a good career and study employment are married.

This is my experience as a single black male. Women today don't think they have roles or duties in a relationship. They think that merely being a woman qualifies them for marriage.
Was married before. Single is better. Nothing in marriage is beneficial to a man unless he just wants kids. I’ve never experienced any of those things in married life. Fortunately I was raised to be able to cook, clean and take care of my child the way society claims a wife will. Never again.

my grandmother told me a long time ago everybody is not going to be married and that is okay. Don't get married just because you see everybody else getting married. When you get saved what you thought you wanted you no longer want. If you live your life for him he will be the one to find you a mate that's worthy of you. God is a jealous God. Marriage is a beautiful thing. God's idea. It's worth the work.
Marriage is idolized and it does not guarantee a good, healthy and strong life. There is a dangerous and unhealthy belief that exists, that tells men and women once they get married, their lives will be fulfilled. It's best to be single, holy, filled with joy, and thriving in life, than to be married, lonely, depressed and suicidal. Oh yes, I said it! I have worked in patient care for two plus decades, and the amount of married men and women that I treat on a weekly basis who wish to God they would have never married is enormous. The infidelity (all types) and STDs amongst married couples are unbelievable. There is this belief that marriage provides safety and protection, but it does not if the husband or wife lacks Godly- integrity. Instead of encouraging people to get married, first teach them the importance of consistent integrity, loyalty, and self-discipline.
I usually agree with bishop. This is the one exception. He has the luxury of remembering & speaking from a time when marriage actually meant something and was regarded as something sacred, admirable, noble and not entered into lightly because people then had more respect for the things of God. Secondly, the woman is not the favor, marriage is. God blessed what he created & covenant was created for us to honor God through serving each other. When we enter covenant and do it God’s way, we please God thus allowing us to experience his favor. That verse is about obedience, not who’s more special.

Both parties are special. When God sends me a husband, it will be a gift. I've been single so long, I am so ready for a man to take the lead 😂. Also, there is something that God is calling me to. To me, it's a huge undertaking. I really believe that, not only will God give me favor that I won't have to undertake this solo, but God has probably already called him to it and I am actually called to be HIS helpmeet in this endeavor. That may be how I know him.
In all ways, I would hope that he would consider me a gift, and that I would add to his life substantially. As a friend, a lover, a fellow worker and warrior, a prayer warrior, someone who increases his peace, his comfort, etc. Everything God grows me to be for him, so he can be who God is calling him to be.
When the two right people are together in God, they add to more than the sum of their parts. The increase is exponential. It's God-math.
There are people who still take marriage seriously. I agree with what you said about the covenant ordained by God. You cannot uncut a covenant. The struggle is the right two people bumping into each other before being bruised by everyone around them.
I think the institution of marriage is sacred, it's protective. It's honorable. But it's theoretical. Your wife. My husband. That's a specific gift. It's like the difference between loving the whole world and loving Ethel or Albert. Family is a gift, but you wouldn't die for 'family', but you'd probably give your life for YOUR family. Your little man Rob or your baby girl, Tanisha.
Similarly, It was a revelation when I realized that, not only did God love the world enough to give his only son and Jesus loved the whole world enough to die for it - they loved ME enough that if I was the only person that needed to be saved, Jesus would have died "Just For Me" (in Donnie McClurkin's words).
The next revelation was - not only did God love me, he actually likes me.
Marriage is the same, I think. It's the personal nature that makes it uniquely individual and special.

I sat in the black COGIC church for years waiting for good men to approach me , not just any old men . While some approached me things just didn’t work out . My husband ended up being someone that approached me outside of the church and he’s a good man . Not perfect but good . Black men certainly aren’t in the church today like they used ti be 20 and 30 years ago . So it’s NOT looking good for women !
