Back in the day dad had a 155 Qx4, basically a Lancia Integrale in drag.
    Great memories.
But regret to inform you, the DTM engine isn't based on the great V6 Busso in this 155.
The DTM engine is actually based, only the cylinder angle actually, on the V6 of the Lancia Thema.
There's a very long, subtitled or translated Video on RUclips, by the lead engineer of the DTM 155, what rule bending craziness they pulled off to get the 155 on track and then to win the series.
Edit: immediately subscribed to your channel, looking forward to your work on this bella machina.

it's a very honest mistake to make, all the PR and marketing of the time quietly implied the closeness of the road model to the one taking part in DTM.
I even remember center fold adverts with the V6 road car and the racing car next to each other.
But the narrower angle of the Thema V6 lent itself better to turbo charging, so the explanation of the constructor.
In true Italian racing fashion they raced the rule book as much as they did the opponents.

My best mate bought the spiritual successor to the 155 DTM, a race car without a race series Italians 🤷‍♂️😉
Fun fact, this is my mates only car.

That’s not 100% right. The Busso v6 was used as a base only in 1993. 1994 onwards they used the PRV derived 90 Degree V6.

It is correct the Busso V6, was never used in DTM, it was homolgated but not used, above the Interview with the constructor of the 155 for the '93 DTM. See for yourself.
      Subtitles are provided.

E30 version would be Alfa Romeo 75, but 75 was a lot more advanced than E30. I think what comes closest to E30 among Italian cars is Fiat 131 Abarth, but it showed up a decade earlier than E30

Sure, when we compare year to year. It's more about value between fans than direct comparison. :)

@@rakashi.workshop I was thinking more of the type of drivetrain and weight. Imho, if somebody likes Alfa 75, or Fiat 131 Abarth, they will like E30 more than Alfa 155, as rear wheel drive makes a completely different cars, not to mention that while on track it didn't really matter, but in rallying front wheel drive cars were unable to stand up to rear wheel drive cars at the time.

Always thought these looked amazing in black, they’re way rarer than the red ones though.. Guess everyone wanted to pretend they were a DTM/BTCC racer.
