My late husband and I loved her from the start of that competition and knew she had no competition and would win. He passed away in 2020 and was a fan of hers until the very end. I revisit her videos old and new often. She is truly gifted and a gift from God to country music. I love inside your heaven but I believe this should have been her official single. Love her so much

I am 74. I have been a fan of hers since her first audition. Her story to success is amazing and inspiring. She is one of those individuals you come across in life who is impossible to dislike, or rather impossible not to love. Here we are 16 years later and she is still at the top of her game. There are very few people you can say that about. She is just a blessed person, and lovely /beautiful, as well.

Carrie was asked, why did she perform with a busted eardrum. She said simple, her dad said you went to do Idol and be a singer, so do it. So, she did.

I have loved carry since the day she appeared on her audition. After 18 years in the industry she has grown so much. Last night my husband took me to her denim & rhinestones tour show of 2023 in Atlanta and she was absolutely amazing!!! 🤩

Carrie had this win in the bag at her first audition. The rest of the season was free concert. With other contests being her opening acts.
To me, the difference between Carrie and Fantasia. After Carrie won, Idol, Carrie's career blossomed and she hasn't looked back since. Fantasia, that didn't happen. Carrie has become a megastar, where as Fantasia didn't busted out completely. Bo, was never close to Carrie in the competition. Bo was a distant second.
The Idol producers even admitted years later that she won the voting every week from Top 12-Finale. There was no doubt that she had this in the bag from the very beginning.
Well, if you notice, with Carrie's season, they didn't put up on the Top Ten List on the screen at all and why Carrie had such a big lead and plus everybody knew Carrie was going to win.

I was watching this as it aired, this is not only the BEST performance EVER on American Idol, this is ONE OF THE BEST PERFORMANCES IN TV HISTORY. This version should have been released as a single it would have been a #1 hit every time I watch this it brings me to tears! On scale of 0-10 this version stands out PERFECT 10!!!
The owner of the song isn't Idol. Owner never gave Carrie permission, so she can't release it as a single.
Carrie first head this song, three hours before this performance, she said that in a interview when she in Australia, where Guy Sebstain is from.
Carrie is definitely the best to ever come off of Idol. If she had lost, it would have been the biggest mistake in history. America got her right.
There was no way, Carrie was going to lose it. They said 30 million votes cast and she had about 70% of the vote.
There was a reason Idol didn't show the tally board for all of the contestants that year. Carrie was so far ahead and all other contestants knew she was going to win it.
I dont think she was the best ever. She was the luckiest. She got big hits to cover her great career. The other idol doesnt hv that opportunity

Yes, Carrie got great songs and she turned them into great hits. Like Carrie's first single, "Jesus Take The Wheel", Carrie turned into a blockbuster hit.

Simple reason for that, Carrie's voice has changed. Difference for Carrie is maturity. Back then, Carrie knew about the music business, but now she is in full control of everything.
Bo, said he was just getting a learning experience from the show. As soon as he heard Carrie sing. He knew winning that season was out of reach. He got the enjoyment of listening to Carrie every night of that season's run. Idol tried to turn into drama of who was going to win. But, there was no drama. Everybody except Carrie, knew Carrie was going to win.
I wish this was her coronation song. It would have been huge on radio. No one played Inside your heaven even though it went straight to #1 Billboard. I love this song

Lillian, the reason, this wasn't the winning song, instead of "Inside Your Heaven". The owner didn't want Idol used it that way.

I'm 28 and I remembered watching American Idol season 4 when I was 12. I've been always rooting for her since the audition in St. Louis. Her genuineness and her beautiful soul touched my heart and ever since her winning, I became a huge fan of her :) 16 years has passed but I'm keeping it as a good old memory ❤

This was the last real great rendition in any performance night of any American Idol finale. One that everyone unanimously agreed was the one that clinched the crown for anyone (in this case, Carrie) and marked the beginning of her rise to legendary status.

As great of a performance as this was, it also gives you an idea of how far she's come since then! She really just keeps getting better with age. Her music, her pitch, and her stage presence have all come so far. I'm going to see her in concert tonight and I can't wait!
In a way, Carrie simple changed classrooms. Carrie went from college classroom to Idol classroom. Idol judges were her teachers and audience was grading with every performance. And she graduated from both.

Carrie said Simon wasn't as mean as he could have been. Well, simple reason for that, Carrie took his critique and got better. Carrie knew absolutely nothing about music business. Idol was her crash course and Carrie said she was a sponge, taking in all that critique from all the judges and use it. Carrie is now so good because Randy, Paula and Simon taught her the music business.
Truly the best winner of America Idol. Aside from all her awards and the support from her fans, she is also well loved and respected by other musicians and producers--she's always present to all the Idol gives back show---i believe she has the most number of appearances at the AI since her win in 2005. That just tells you something. She is GREAT. Love her.
This is my favorite song that Carrie did while on American Idol...it fit the occassion and she sang it as if angels really did bring her here!! She is one in a million and I am proud to be a fan!!
Carrie is amazing. By far the best vocal out of all the idols!
I love how she held on to that note for so long and then put her head back down, singing into the microphone without showing any slight sign of attenuation, as if belting out that word didn't make her unsteadily breathless for even a second.
How anyone can give this performance a thumbs down is beyond me...It is an extraordinary performance...Just like every performance Carrie gives...more emotion in every note than you will ever hear from any other singer and it wasn't even her song...Carrie has showed us her greatness since and even has showed us how to be better human beings.....
As I found out in looking at past interviews, Bo said he knew before the finals, toward the beginning of the competition, Carrie was the winner easily.

So many people here have just found Carrie. I just discovered her in May 2007 after the awards and just then got Some Hearts. I was missing out on a jewel all this time and I follow country music. I had no idea how good that CD is. If you don't own it go get it today.
I know the audience was disappointed when Vonzell was eliminated but even Vonzell said she knew Carrie was going to win. When Vonzell heard Carrie for the first time, Vonzell said she knew Carrie was going to win. Every contestant competing with Carrie that year knew Carrie was going to win.

I thought the judge's pick was only during the top 3, the finale (from what I remember watching seasons 1-9) the finale songs were always chosen by the top 2.
Either way if you are right, that's still magnificent how well executed she did this song.

There's no doubt in my mind that angels indeed had something to do with bringing Carrie here as a gift to all mankind. Even at this point her voice had the emotion, inflection and range to carry her to the superstardom that awaited her after Idol. I will say this from her interview with Australian TV about she came to do this song. She said one of the judges pick this song for her. She didn't know which pick it. She was given a note and this was the song. She had to look it up and get to perform in three hours. And that it was I mean. Going from never even hearing of it and three hours later on live TV, no less. With that kind of performance. That proves why Bo or anybody else had no chance against her.

I agree, the golden age of American Idol and the best winner the show will ever turn out, regardless of how many series they do. I'm from the UK and the same is true about our X Factor, there'll never be another Leona Lewis, she and Carrie are one in a million to such shows.

Simon said about Carrie during Idol competition. That other contestants didn't do and still don't. Every time, Carrie got criticize about something. They never said again to her. She took the comment and corrected it. Where as other contestants would do the same thing a couple of times before they got the hint. That is why Carrie is so good. And her critics don't like her. Critics say something about her and they look for it, next time, Carrie performs and it isn't there anymore. And they go like dam.
