I am 74. I have been a fan of hers since her first audition. Her story to success is amazing and inspiring. She is one of those individuals you come across in life who is impossible to dislike, or rather impossible not to love. Here we are 16 years later and she is still at the top of her game. There are very few people you can say that about. She is just a blessed person, and lovely /beautiful, as well.
I have loved carry since the day she appeared on her audition. After 18 years in the industry she has grown so much. Last night my husband took me to her denim & rhinestones tour show of 2023 in Atlanta and she was absolutely amazing!!! 🤩

To me, the difference between Carrie and Fantasia. After Carrie won, Idol, Carrie's career blossomed and she hasn't looked back since. Fantasia, that didn't happen. Carrie has become a megastar, where as Fantasia didn't busted out completely. Bo, was never close to Carrie in the competition. Bo was a distant second.
The Idol producers even admitted years later that she won the voting every week from Top 12-Finale. There was no doubt that she had this in the bag from the very beginning.

Bo, said he was just getting a learning experience from the show. As soon as he heard Carrie sing. He knew winning that season was out of reach. He got the enjoyment of listening to Carrie every night of that season's run. Idol tried to turn into drama of who was going to win. But, there was no drama. I love how she held on to that note for so long and then put her head back down, singing into the microphone without showing any slight sign of attenuation, as if belting out that word didn't make her unsteadily breathless for even a second.

Carrie said Simon wasn't as mean as he could have been. Well, simple reason for that, Carrie took his critique and got better. Carrie knew absolutely nothing about music business. Idol was her crash course and Carrie said she was a sponge, taking in all that critique from all the judges and use it. Carrie is now so good because Randy, Paula and Simon taught her the music business.
I will say this from her interview with Australian TV about she came to do this song. She said one of the judges pick this song for her. She didn't know which pick it. She was given a note and this was the song. She had to look it up and get to perform in three hours. And that it was I mean. Going from never even hearing of it and three hours later on live TV, no less. With that kind of performance. That proves why Bo or anybody else had no chance against her.
This was (at still is) the ALL-TIME BEST performance in the history of American Idol; An off the scale rating 11 out of a perfect score of 10!!! This version should have been released as a single, it would have been a #1 hit. This is one of the BEST singing performances I've ever seen in 40+ years of entertainment!!

I love how she held on to that note for so long and then put her head back down, singing into the microphone without showing any slight sign of attenuation, as if belting out that word didn't make her unsteadily breathless for even a second.

Carrie didn't pick this song to do. She sang it, because it was judge pick song. She never heard of it until three hours before.

I thought the judge's pick was only during the top 3, the finale (from what I remember watching seasons 1-9) the finale songs were always chosen by the top 2.
Either way if you are right, that's still magnificent how well executed she did this song.
Alden Bunag Carrie was interviewed on Australian TV and she was asked how this song got on to American Idol. It was in the final round, judges's choice of the song. And judge pick this one for her.

Carrie said Simon wasn't as mean as he could have been. Well, simple reason for that, Carrie took his critique and got better. Carrie knew absolutely nothing about music business. Idol was her crash course and Carrie said she was a sponge, taking in all that critique from all the judges and use it. Carrie is now so good because Randy, Paula and Simon taught her the music business.

I will say this from her interview with Australian TV about she came to do this song. She said one of the judges pick this song for her. She didn't know which pick it. She was given a note and this was the song. She had to look it up and get to perform in three hours. And that it was I mean. Going from never even hearing of it and three hours later on live TV, no less. With that kind of performance. That proves why Bo or anybody else had no chance against her.

This was (at still is) the ALL-TIME BEST performance in the history of American Idol; An off the scale rating 11 out of a perfect score of 10!!! This version should have been released as a single, it would have been a #1 hit. This is one of the BEST singing performances I've ever seen in 40+ years of entertainment!!
