Based on your informative videos I purchased the XFE 15 AND THE PXE 80, I couldn't be any happier. I absolutely love these tools. Makes paint correction so much easier, less fatigue and no tripping over cords etc..... Flex owes you a huge debt of gratitude for your promotion of their products, as do I. I can't Thank you enough.......
Really like those flex lights really good design no holes in the beam. I used to sell camping equipment and it was a big problem with lighting for a long time especially when you need something bright and close range.
I just got my flex cordless xce8 and what a beast. Picked it up at 15% off plus free shipping. At first I thought I wouldn't get used to it but once you start polishing you won't miss the cord.
You made me buy it aswell haha, your video kept me from buying the Rupes nano electric toothbrush and go for this lovely machine which actually polishes!! sure the design of the nano is better looking, but this Flex Pxe 80 10.8 actually does what you buy it for!
Def one of the best tools I have bought, as with the XCE which is a workhorse. I prefer the Rupes pads with mine, yellow with perfect finish is a great combo, new Rupes yellow wool pad steps it up. Little tip, put the 3 inch plate with the smaller throw and you have a 3 inch sander, great for headlights. Also using the 40mm IBrid pads.
Was it feasible to do a whole car with this size? I want to start polishing for the first time and am tempted to buy a cordless flex polisher. But can only afford one initially. And now i'm wondering which size would serve me better. As a hobbyist i feel like the lower work rate of the smaller pad shouldnt really be a problem...
Henk De Vrjes It depends on the size of your car and how much patience you have! It’s a great way to start polishing as the machine is so easy to use. I spent about eight weeks on my car, doing a panel here and there. If you’re limited to time you’d probably be better off with something like the DAS6 Pro. It’s a larger DA polisher, cheaper and a great tool with which to learn the basics. That said, once you’ve learned to use the PXE you’d find that it’s a go-to tool for years afterwards. With the DAS6 you’d probably want to upgrade if you start getting serious about polishing. I have no regrets buying the PXE. I was so impressed with the cordless technology I ended up buying the Flex direct drive polisher too.
Great video as usual. I really fancy a cordless DA but don’t have the pennies for a Flex. I see liquid elements have launched a full size cordless... might have to pull the trigger 😬
Cheers Jon! I tried Gyeon Skin by itself on the test panel a few years back when I was testing the first formula of Gliss, and the Skin side did not seem to provide much of any significant hydrophobic presence. There was some repellency at the start of the rinse but it was only moderately hydrophobic, nothing like the awesome hydrophobics that Skin adds on top of Mohs. A wash with Bathe Essence nearly had it fully hydrophilic. That was after prepping with a standard abrasive and panel wipe, I'm really interested to see if the sio2 base layer from Gyeon Primer can really get the Skin topcoat to work its magic in your test, haven't ever tried that combo out! Same story with Gyeon Booster, without a coating base I never saw any magic happening, but on top of the coatings it made all the difference. Really want to get my hands on the Flex PXE, such an awesome design and I love that quick disconnect feature to be able to swap the different plates and pads out seamlessly. I got a chance to play around with it at the Mobile Tech Expo this year here in the States, incredible little tool. Out of the budget for me, but between the Flex PXE and the Rupes Nano I'm leaning towards the Flex. Thanks for the video, stay safe my friend!
Yo Kyle :) great to hear from you. I got similar results to what you describe, this video is a few weeks back. Skin on primer did not work well in terms of hydrophobics. the skin bottle is about 2 year old at least. It felt really nice to apply. Maybe it didnt bond or maybe it expired. But yer when I tested it on top of Mohs years ago when it was new and it was insanely hydrophobic. My guess is if I put some 2 year old mohs down and put skin ontop it will work well (even though its old). I ended up just waxing the car :)

I figured there was a reason why Gyeon wouldn’t sell Skin separately from Mohs, must be some cool chemistry going on between the two of them that does something special when layered together that might not work as well with other protectants. I still have a 50ml bottle of the latest Mohs which is a few years old now that I haven’t opened, hoping the shelf life has held up I’m thinking about playing around with it some! Would like to reach out to Gyeon to see if they can get more technical with how Skin, Booster, Flexi, Phobic, and Bead all compare and differ from each other as topcoats. Always great to hear from you as well!
I'm a fan of Flex but my wallet isn't 🤣 so after 2 years waiting for a more reasonable option I found out that Sealey had introduced the cordless CP18VOP model in October last year. It is a very good, capable and versatile tool that sells for around £250 with 2 batteries each gives 35min approx of running time. I use it with the orange pad from Lake Country and can do more or less correction easily changing the chemicals. Favs at the moment are Poorboys 2.5 for swrils or Auto Fanatic's Secret Weapon for lighter correction/enhancement.
i got a couple in the can.. Its a no from me on them. But this is a very personal thing.. They serve a role and might be of use to some people but I find them a bit of a pain to use especially on machine.
Nice video Jon, I’m thinking of investing in a DA polisher, but I don’t want to have to buy several. Could I just invest in a Flex PXE 80 and use it for all my panels on my Mini? I know the 3” would take longer on bigger panels, but would it still be ok, or do you have to go for the bigger 5” DA polisher?
Just the video I was waiting for. I am really confused though about the pads it can take and use, can you explain that to me some more please ?. The backing plate sizes seem to be in cm's and are a bit bigger than the equivalent pad size by the sounds of it. Most pads are sold in 1" 2" 3" etc, so which ones will this machine take ? Ta in advance
so you use the 12 mill throw adapter with the 75ml place (3inch). You use the 30ml (1inch) plate with the rotary adapter. And you use the 3ml throw adapter with the inch daisy pad plate (this plate does not have velco it just sticks to the sanding daiseys). The rotary adapter will not allow you to fit the 75ml plate (deliberatly by design)
the LHR75 is on another level of power and it will kick out more vibration.. but vibration is not a massive issue with either tool. the pxe80 is primarily a nano tool that you can get away with using a 75ml plate and its remarkable good considering how small and light the machine is. but yer the LHR 75 is on another level of power just like the XFE7-12 is.
The Quick release is genius. It's a shame the ibrid nano hasn't caught on. I hope Rupes brings out a new version of the ibrid nano with such a quick release. Time for an upgrade RUPES !! The nano has been around long enough in its current form.
i mean at least 2" right i am sure this thing will easily be capable of 2 inch rotary or da until they come up with 2" backing plate i will consider my mini flex unfinished
i brought rupes nano ibrid for those hard to reach places ... in my option its crap it stalls when i add bit of pressure changing from 1" to 2 plates its pain in arse .. im tempted to pull the plug on this flex as it seems it just make life lot easier gets the job done lot faster
I bought one of these from watching your reviews, I really like the tool, the one purchased here in the U.S. though was made in China, since you mentioned Chinese copying, I don't know if the ones in Europe are made in Germany, my Flex 3401 was made in Germany but not the PXE-80 a bit disappointing
these I think are the first flex polishing machines to be made in china.. flex has been owned by a chinese company for a long while but the polishers were made in germany (I think they still make the big polishers in germany). Id rather it was made in germany because I dont like paying big money for chinese made stuff but at least flex make it I guess and theres no alternative to this tool. The nano isnt really a rival to it.
Hello Sir Jon! My question would be How do you store your Korrosol? Do you keep it with the spray gun or without it? Do you put Korrosol closed but at the same time within a large ziplock bag? I am asking you because of the bad smell it has since I also have CarPro Trix and AM Details Iron but AM Details Iron is not as stinky as the others and don't seem to be within a ziplock bag. The Flex is also within my bucket list because I still have Griots GG6 and another one I purchased at Harbor Freight. By the way, on that Flex do you have to change the grease it comes with like we normally do with Griots and other polishers? Always watching you from Puerto Rico 👍🇵🇷 and hope you sing more. I really miss your music and singing.👏🙏 Hopefully, you can get screened properly to determine if you have or had covid-19 and if you had it then you can donate your plasma so it can help others.
I dont notice the korrosol smell. Only if I use it otherwise its airtight a good test is just squeeze the bottle with the trigger on if it cant collapse in then its airtight. I dont blieve you have to do any maintainance with the flex but I would ask flex about this. Awsome to have a viewer from Puerto Rico. Stay in contact and one day I come to visit :)

no you cant.. it didnt work well on its own.. but its an old bottle as well. I think it needs to go on top of MOHS basically to work. ill test it again with mohs
rupes ibrid for titgther smaller hard to hit areas. PXE for more power, better batteries, decent 75ml option, better quick release system, but a bigger tool less intracate. both are excellent but I prefer the flex specially with the little ADT adapters for door handles and extention bars.
@@luchoperuano6617 ok mate the lhr75 is on another level of power it has a lot more grunt than the PXE... but the PXE is a nano tool. it supports 1 in pads on the rotary adapater you can do spot sanding with teh 3ml adapater... so different kind of tools PXE can do 3 inch mini polishing duties but it has no where near the power mate.

if its not gear driven how does the motor drive a lateral shaft then direct the torque perpendicular to the main drive shaft. Answer gearing :) however you have 3 adapters. 1 rotary which is "driven" and 2 DA adapters which introduce a free spinning bearing off of the "driven" axel. I think you might be trying to say something like this machine is not a force rotation dual aciotn polisher. if thats what you meant then correct.

I heard a lot about the XFe15 cordless not be able to do heavy compounding , how is it going with you in that case ?
@@luchoperuano6617 I've never really needed to do heavy compounding, I'm mainly getting rid of swirling and oxidization.

The PXE is an awesome tool. I did a full three stage polish on my 911 with one over the winter. The Flex pads are all the pads you’ll ever need IMO.

I asked about the Rupes nano. They did short and long neck, because certain people preferred one more than the other.

i find my big cordless da stalls out....so i use the smaller tool or the forced rotation usually.
Are you going to be looking at the new Auto Finesse Ceramic infused sprays?

Can you use the large pad as rotary and not just DA?
Jon, please do a video on these silica primers. I’ve never heard of them being used with an SiO2 coating

How did you find the Makita cordless? I am thinking of getting a DPO600 as a starter unit instead of the usual corded Das6 offerings.

no mate get a DA8 from in2detailing cheaper and better size.. supports 3 inch or 5 inch plate. see DA8 review

DWL 2500 10.8/18.0 is the light. and WLS-70-190 for the tripod mate.

i use a bike lite that can pump out 2000 lumens....on low i can get like 10 hours at around 500 lumens.
