THANK YOU! I've been wanting to upgrade my Stinger I with UV stobe lights instead of the white ones.
Totally a probability! You’ll probably be able to buy the replacement parts for the Stinger 2 from the ADJ parts. I can’t imagine there’ll be too much different between the first gen and second. I went the the parts store and found they did have the replacement LEDs. Here’s the link.

Thanks for the video. That's the kind of stuff I do when I buy things... Take them apart. So, I bought this Stinger 2 about 2 years ago and I've always just left it on sound active mode and show 3 for no particular reason. I never read the manual. Now I switched it to Sh 6 and it seems to favor using more UV light. I read your response to someone else and picked up on the tips. Thank you. I haven't tried any other features. I do DJ parties a lot, and this thing has been my go-to light because it covers a lot of area and it looks like a nightclub.

When I was younger, if the batteries would die in a toy, it was considered broke. So I took it apart. Ah good times. 😂
So do you like that it favors the UV or are you wanting to have it do more with the moonflower or laser?

You can also use your iPhone with the Airstream IR app to control this unit, it’s a little tedious though.
When you get into the world of DMX, you’ll have full control.

Yes it’s a very nice unit to cover a large area, and with 3 effect in-one, that really cuts down on set up time.

@@DJKoren Thanks for the reply. I like the UV when I do nightclub gigs at bars. I like the moonflower on this but wish it was slower, rather than crazy fast. Or at least it auto-responded to different speeds. I like the laser effects... Nothing too special, but they look great with fog, or haze. I do about 3-4 gigs a month. Sometimes back-to-back at one nightclub/bar/grill... Such as this weekend on Main St in Huntington Beach, CA (it's 5 de Mayo weekend). That's what I use the Stinger 2 for. It cuts set-up time down and I usually take extra moonflower (ADJ Dualgem Pulse) which is also good for quick set-up, and I take uplights for lighting up dark areas. I bought a Chauvet Obey 3, but never got it to work with anything I have. I bought it without researching DMX stuff (it's a 3-channel LED controller). When I have more time to set-up I put lights at the entrance door to attract customers in. A true one-man party on-the-go for quick setups. Thanks again. If there are cool settings for the Stinger 2 that would be fun to try out, based what I wrote here, I'm willing to check it out. Thank you!

The UV is quite bright, at full on...you could probably get a tan with that. 😂
Yes I totally agree with you on that, I honestly never use it at full speed; I’m normally as slow as possible, or 50% of the full speed.
Yes! The lasers are nothing without a little atmosphere.

You could definitely use the Chauvet Obey 3 with the Stinger 2 or maybe your up lights...
(only if they are DMX compatible)
So you only have 3 channels on the controller, the Stinger 2 uses 9 channel in full control mode. But if you switch the Stinger into a 2 channel mode you could definitely control it with the Obey 3. With those 2 channel you can control,
Channel 1: Show Mode•
Show 1 - Show 6, plus Randoms Shows.
Channel 2: Show Speed/Sound Sense
Show Speed Slow - Fast
Sound Active
If you did that, the presets on the Obey 3 probably wouldn’t do to much for the Stinger.
Or you could use the controller on your pars, as long at they are RGB & DMX.

Yes so true, and when you’re a one-man operation, set ups and take downs need to be quick and efficient.
Cool setting for the Stinger 2......
I can think of 3 things you might not know about/tried.
1. LED Screen Blackout: Go through the settings on your unit until you see “LEd” press enter and you can have it “ON” or “OFF” if you select “OFF” your display will turn off after 10 seconds, then you won’t have the red glow of the screen.
2. TEST Mode: you can find this on the menu screen, look for “tESt” and hit ENTER. Your unit with now run through everything it can do with the 3 effects. It’s a great way to make sure everything’s working without having to change through shows.
3. If you’re working with the unit upside down you can go to the menus and find “dISP” and you will be able to reverse the display 180°. Kinda handy in awkward situations.
4. And one more for fun. You can see how long your fixture has run, in the menu look for “FhrS” it will then diplay how many hours the unit has run for it’s whole life.

Now I’m only making suggestions and options on DMX for you, if you feel like it’s something you don’t really need or want to mess with right now, that’s completely up to you.
I’m just showing the options, you can make your decision from that.
Oh one more thing, the Duel Gem is compatible with the Airstream IR App.
The Stinger 2 is also compatible.
Like I said before, the App is a little tedious to use, but kinda cool.

Nicely done. Thanks for showing insides. I have a question about these "hex LEDs". I thought it was one LED that did all 6 colours, so if you want amber, all 6 of them shine amber colour, but this video appears to show through only one LED is amber. How does it work with hex LEDs? And is this unit typical or untypical of hex led employment.
What I'm driving at is that I've considered buying 2 of these for potential par can duty, because they have lots of nice colour combinations (because of the "hex LEDs"), and if used in DMX they could be used in specific lighting scenes, but if there's only one led that is a specific colour it kind of may not work so well. Am just trying to understand how they work.

That’s correct! Topically Hex LEDs are all in one. But they broke the rules a little here. One of the reasons, if they were all in one, you wouldn’t have a nice placement with the color pattern shining on the floor. If it was a typical Hex LED it would all be in a little square group and you would still have the same color pattern. Another good part of all the LEDs separated is you can changed them out if one go bad. I did a video on that too. 😄
Hope this helps with your confusion, but yes a typical Hex LED is 6 colors in ones mold.
So if you where hoping to color mix with the Stinger 2 well.....it won’t work for that. It has its six colors plus the UV and that’s it.

I have buy an ADJ Stinger II but it dont response to music; do you now what happen? I have adjust the sound sensivity to 90 and nothing happens :(. How did you configurated the unit? Should be the music louder?

OK I normally set the sensitivity to 50. There's a section on your Stinger 2 Menu, look for (SoUn) Sound State. Make sure that is on and you should be ready to rock! Let me know if that doesn't fix it. Oh and it responds better to a low frequency.
My question is did it work when he put it back together and did he have any extra parts?
It's all put back together and worked perfectly. No leftover parts. If you watch the national anthem light show. It's the same Stinger II that was taken apart.

did you come across a safety switch on the casing? I too mines apart and is stuck on ADJ on the display and won't do nothing else. but I have the stinger gobo. I'm stuck
Yes I did. It’s on the top of the unit, or on the bottom depending on how the unit is sitting. 😂 But ya, if the switch gets stuck or broke it will stay on the ADJ screen. Ok I’d look for a switch along the edge and push it down. And it should be fine. I don’t have the Stinger Gobo personally but it’s in the same family. You can also try turning it off then back on. Or pushing the menu button to see if anything responds. Let me know if that helps. I hope you can get it fixed! And thanks so much for the question! 👏🏻👌🏻

Absolutely! If you're using DMX, the Airstream app, or the on bored menu. You can run the laser or the moonflower or the uv individually or all together. Thanks for your question!
I do not have a remote and I'm borrowing this light for a small wedding. How can I just have it go with the music on it's own?
So it’s definitely possible to use this in sound mode without any extra parts. You’ll go to the menu on the back of the unit and look for the word (SOSE) this is the audio sensitivity for the unit. 50 is usually a good number for this. After that click through the display again and look for (SOUN) hit enter and set this to on, this will allow the sounds to control the unit. After you’ve done that you can go to (SHND) on the menu and go to anyone of the built in shows. They should automatically start reacting to the sound. Normally I’ll tap on the top of the unit to make sure it’s working properly. Other than that it’s pretty simple. 👌🏻 hope this helps and you have and amazing wedding!! 👏🏻

Hi I have 2 of these and when I try to select a show it stays on for 10 seconds and stops and when I press enter after I select a show it stops as well and when I press enter and hold down the menu for 3 seconds it’s just locks the displays and doesn’t select a show, what am I doing wrong? (As of now at my gigs I just leave it on test mode this way it’s not completely useless)
Ok so this took me a bit to get the hang of. First you turn on the unit (that’s a pretty standard procedure 😂)....ok so you’ll go to the menu that says SHND and then hit enter.
Select the show you want SH 0 - SH 6 then hit enter twice. After a few seconds the master light will turn on next to the display and you should be all set. What you can do is link both units together with a DMX cable and the slave with mimic the master.
Also the unit will auto lock the diplay after 10 sec or so. To unlock you’ll hold the Menu button for a few seconds and the display will flash or something. You can then change the show type, press enter twice and you’re all good. Hope this helps if not and you’re still having problems, don’t hesitate to ask for more help. BTW great idea to put it into TEST mode! I love that feature. 👌🏻
I've just got a stinger 2 my only complaint is the music mic is not very sensitive to music if its played a bit low other wise a brilliant light.

Yes the musics got to be loud I've got cheaper lights that are more sensitive than this set up pity it's not a lot more sensitive.
Love this light but sometimes when i plug it in it gets stuck and just flashes nothing shows up on the menu any ideas what the issuse can be

@fabz1509 Great question! Replacing the power supply on the Stinger 2 is not something I’ve had to do. But here’s some things to watch out for. The new Power supply should be a perfect match. So I’d take pictures of the old power supply while it’s still connected to all the wires, making a note on what wire colors go where and all the mounting screws. Always make sure the unit is unplugged when working on it. For mains power lines standard colors are Black = Positive (L) White = Negative or Neutral (N) and Green = Ground (normally has a symbol that looks like an arrow pointing down.) Best of luck!

+DJ Koren I used a DMX 3 and didn't work i thinks because the dmx controller that i have only has 3 channels and this light used 9 channel... am I right?
Actually that's not a big problem. Because you have two channel modes. 2 channel and a 9 channel.its a bit more limited with the 2 but you can run the built in shows and control the speed. You also have sound active. Hope this helps. And if you get the Stinger II send me some pics I would love to see how you use it.
What's the difference with ch 9 ch 2 I'm no dj it means nothing to me.
Pretty simple. When in the channel 2 mode. That means you are only using two channels of DMX. With that you can control the built in shows and the sound activation. When in 9 channel mode. You are using nine channels of DMX. You have a little more control over your unit. You can control things like the laser color, the pattern, the LED color, UV FX, and rotation speed. Hope that helps.
