I had no idea where to start with this. Found your video, bought the bracket from your link plus a t50 thingy, it arrived this morning and I had it fitted in half an hour. Hospital bag packed, baby seat locked in place, ready to go! Cheers!
The little lever you have to flip up (1:38) was totally jammed on one side of mine. I worked on it for about 20 minutes and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. Gave up and tried the other side and it flipped up instantly. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for this video. My stubborn husband was trying to fit it while the seat was still in place. If it weren't for this video showing how to unclip the seat he'd have beaten up my car even MORE than he already has. I do wish he'd listen to me every now and again.... I might be a mere woman, but he should have learned by now that I am pretty good at this stuff!
Anyone else feel like they are watching an Edgar Wright directed movie? :) But seriously folks.... this video is awesome. No inane yapping and just shows you how to do it with crystal clear instructions
Thank you so much for sharing this. I have a similar ford with no pre installed isofix. I thought I'd have to fork out a lot of money to book in with my local ford dealership to get this done. But after seeing your video it gave me (someone who's bad at diy) the confidence to do it myself. Your instructions were simple and clear and I have managed to install the isofix. Thanks.
Easy to follow video without explaining obvious stuff and dragging it out for too long. As others have said you will need to buy a Torx T50 separately - easiest place is on EBay or Amazon- picked up a set of bits for £7. Many thanks
Chris I was searching for isofix Ford and found you! Great video and solves my problem, am going to order the isofix fitting with the car seat now for when baby is due 👍
Good guide, very helpful! Just as a note for others, my socket set only had bits up to T45, but that still did the job (even though T50 is the correct size)
Thanks for sharing this. Received a car that says I should have ISOFIX already fitted. Come to realise I haven't. So if the dealer/seller doesn't resolve it. I will have to do this aswell. Great vid.
You're saving me! I bought a very expensive car seat for my previous car, but i had to change in emergency and got an old Ford Focus without ISOFIX, i was desperate to change the car seat that is almost new !
Just bought a 2008 focus estate as a cheap workhorse only to find theres no isofix! Wtf!? Cant believe it wasnt standard.. thanks for the instructions dude quick and easy
Thanks man for a such a short and to the exact point video. :) have the same problem you had. Will try to fit it in 24 hours. I just need a T50 bit. Now max i have is t45, so i don't want to mess it up. Will find a proper bit soon and try to fit it on my Mk2 kombi :) will keep in touch after mounting.
I was just about to give up. I have a 2009 ford focus zetec. Both halfords and the ford garage told me it wasn't compatible with ISOFIX - going to go order a bracket now!
Great video. Seen the kit and thought can't be as safe as OEM. Vid clearly shows safe and solid fitting. Guess manufacturers were just saving a few quid. 🙄
Excellent video, Chris. Just installed the damn devlish thing on my European Focus even though the shitty seat just refused to come off from the other side after unclipping.😑
This is an excellent video man!!! Thank you!!! I just buy a new Peugeot 208 GT and it’s don’t has isofix. So I will investigate tomorrow where are those back holes !!! Thank you!
Still helping people 5 years later. 😜🥹 I’m so grateful! Thank you so much!!! Just bought a new car specifically to start a new job and take my bubs to Nursey and it didn’t have the isofix 🙈 almost a disaster! Again thank you!!! 🙏🙏🙏
Installed without any problem, thanks for this guide. One question - you did not install that strange sticker which was also present in my isofix kit (2:05 left side). Any idea where this is supposed to be applied to ?
Thanks for the video mate. The first part of the seat you removed, is there clips for that or does it come straight out? I am installing this bracket today any more help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for this, it looks so easy. I tried following the steps, but after 1:45 my seat does not budge. Ive unclipped it from the bracket exactly as shown, but it seems to be just as tightly secured as before :(
Same issue. The hinge/clip moved about halfway back (very easily) but then wouldn't budge any more, seat still locked firmly in place. Did you have any luck in the end or find a solution?
For anyone else viewing, I did finally get the clip to budge, but it wasn't easy. I found I needed to go to the passenger-side rear door, and, while pushing the clip with the screwdriver, pull the base of the seat upwards (and generally jiggling it). Popped out nicely!
You have to move the hinge all the way back until you don’t see the white mark. Put more pressure and when you do the seat automatically comes up a bit
hi mate, i am considering buy a for focus 3 door with a baby on the way but people have warned me a 3 door is bad idea for maneuvering a car seat in and out. What has your experience been like and would you recommend to look for a 5 door instead?
Cian Kerrigan Don’t buy a 3 door. We managed it for a few months but ended up selling it and got a Quashqai. The Ford Focus is ok but the doors are huge on a 3 door and especially as a new born it’s difficult to lean in and over to unclip the seat.
Hi I know you did this job a while ago but I have just followed your video and all went well apart from now my middle seat belt is stuck and will not retract do you have any ideas how to fix this?
What is exact dimension of these screws? I managed to break one screw during instalation. Other screw went nicely, but the other one simply didn't want to go that easy. 😟
Amazon? You can just get these at the local dealer for ~20 euro (is about same price you paid, but you paid shipping). I've been looking in the Heynes Ford Focus 2 maintenance manual, and I think the bolts need to be torqued at 35Nm=26lb ft. What do you think?
38 Nm buddy they go down the same as the other rear anchor point bolts. Don't just FT (fk'n tight) as they can shear in a crash 👍 a very good shout and needs to be pinned in the original video description if at all possible?
If present, they will be diagonally opposite of the drivers position and right under the bottom lip of the back rest. Flip up the seat, carefully, run a hand under the backrest with fingers pressing on the chassis an you should feel/maybe see two black rubber plugs around 25mm. These block the bolt holes to stop ingress of water.
Hi all, I bought that isofix support for a Ford MK1 (2003). The bolt on the Ford MK1 (before 2004) are M8 bolt, while the Ford MK2 (2004-2011) has M10 bolt. Therefore, the ones provided in the package are M10 and I am looking for equivalent M8 bolt. I can easily find M8 bolts at the store, but do you guys know if the provided M10 bolt have anything special to them ? Here, I mean a specific strength in case of a crash, a specific metal type to avoid disformation... ? Thanks in advance In other words, shall I buy specific M8 bolt or standard ones at the supermarket would fit and be sufficient in case of a crash ?

Cheers mate, hardly needed a tutorial by the looks of it, but saved me working all that first, ta.

Ive just bought this isofix mount and was struggling to understand how it was fitted until watching this video!! Thanks alot mate

T40 wont do the job😢
Thanks so much. Super helpful!!! So kind of you to put this together as it massively helped me and saved me loads of time and money!!
Just fitted the adaptor to the car, super straightforward thanks to your video.

hilarious. I look for a post on fitting this and it's the chap I brought an MR2 from 3 years ago. thanks for the video :-)
Lewis Brown Ha ha! How you doing chap? Assume the MR2 has moved on if you're looking into isofix fittings? :)
Chris Newnham it has but to a friend so I still see it now and then!
You are incredibly fast with a wrench, I am impressed.
Thanks! Got it done in about 30 min thanks to your video, cheers!
Thanks for uploading this video. Made installing the isofix a really simple. It was harder getting hold of a T50 Torx piece.

Is this ISOFIX Bracket universal for all cars (if they have the two holes)?
Th Theod Afaid I don’t officially know but I doubt it as was a specific Ford Focus figment.

Great video!! Lifesaver
I see the top tether simbol there printed on that small decal. Can you please tell me where is the top tether or third point in that car? Thank you!
Can you tell me the distance between the two screw holes? I am looking to fit a modern isofix bracket to my 72 Citroen DS.
Thanks a lot! Worked on Volvo V50 since same car anyways :)!
It could fit in any model or just Ford?
Does it puncture the seat when you lower in down flat to increase luggage space?

Can you fit this one on a Ford Focus 2013? It's so weird we still don't have them and the local Ford REFUSES to install them

Where you able to install both?
Any way to buy the guides only? I have the isofix but no guides on the Focus ST and i don't want to buy them from a sketchy website
How do you know those bolts are correctly torqued?
Thanks to you I could install it. Thanks!
