    A real bike with no bullshit rider nannies. Nice and simple with no ABS, no traction control, no rider modes, no electronic suspension, and no IMU. Awesome suspension and 12 inches of ground clearance. Oh, yes, I happen to have one and it's a keeper.

      I did end up buying one and immediately took it for a 5500k trip into the bush. The bike was brilliant. A little tall and heavy when getting it off the side stand fully loaded would be my only complaint but that's down to me not being tall enough at 5'10. Having said that, I managed.

    Great review, it’s a great bike and I absolutely love mine. Regarding fuel consumption, I think it’s relative to the sprocketing on the bike. I run a 16:42 tooth front and back, I get around 20 km/ liter which I think is good, at 120 kph the bike is revving just under 5000. When the time comes to eventually sell the old girl, the only replacement that makes sense is the Yammie T7. Greetings from South Africa, be sure to do a review on the bike you going to buy....cheers

      Thanks Gordon. 20ks per litre is as good as you could ask for in a bike that size with that much power. That's great going. I've looked around at 990s for sale since doing the test ride and have found them too expensive for their age and ks. I just couldn't justify the spending. For the money, you're quite right, the T7 looks the goods. Thanks again for your comments. Cheers.

    The bike to replace my 990 will be another 990... I love the thing. And it's actually pretty easy to ride for what it is. Currently I'm at a bit over 70.000km and the bike is starting to make some noises that don't quite sound right
    The only downside is that it is a black hole when it comes to fuel consumption. Mine is a lot worse then stated in the video. I think that's for conservative riding
    Edit: for context im relatively short at 5 foot 7. But the regular 990 is perfectly rideable

      @escapeartist7900 3 года назад

      Interesting feedback. You wouldn't just get your current bike fixed? Too costly? The fuel issue is considerable, especially going remote..

    • @tolga1cool
      @tolga1cool 3 года назад +1

      @@escapeartist7900 Oh, I definitely could rebuild it. But for the time and money I could sell it and get a newer one without as much hassle (mine is a 2006, first year with fi). It's not broken per se. It's just that a lot of little things will be due sometime soon. Also there are a few known issues that will cost time fixing. For example the rear swingarm has a notch worn in from the mudflap. So I'd technically need a new rear swingarm. Stuff like that.
      But that's in the future. For now it's doing just fine

      Here in Germany riding Offroad is really hard an mostly illegal. You can ride to the Alps and do some mountain passes, but those are a whole day of riding away. Then you can go to Slovenia or go east to Poland for the TET. But that's about it sadly..

    Another great video, but I've seen a few now and it raises a few questions in my mind... What bike is your regular adventure bike? How did you cover to choose that bike over all of the other ones you could have bought? Might be another video for you to make, how and why you chose the bike you have, and how you've customised your ride to suit your style? Just my thoughts though mate, seriously enjoying what you've produced so far.
