Nice video, Frank. Using a file or grinder wheel, to "score" (and then break off) the unneeded "Stinger" portion of the antenna vertical element, is a convenient way to shorten stainless steel antenna stingers.
What I got was a 3/8 Chrome Stud for a CB antenna. I took it apart and from that I got the adapter. Never seen a 3/8-24 to UHF adapter by itself - well not yet.

I used Sirio 16cm magnet mount - in the middle of the roof. In resonant point swr 1.01, Z~50ohm +/- j0
Me too. What I don't like is setting it up and then taking it down when I'm on the road.
