That wasn't backdash cancel. It was forward dash cancel. It is not invincible. In fact, any character can throw a burst like that, if you do it before burst hit - burst is not throw invincible, and that is how it was done - watch closely, the burst wave was yet to come out. I have been thrown by a Sol player just like that, and I have it on video. Hase does this against less skilled people all the time, somewhere in June some Johnny player got caught like that two times in a fight.
Is it just me that thinks that some characters just deal some unfair amount of damage compared to other ones? Slayer is according to my opinion one of them. Other ones are f. ex. Johnny or Sin. But here in this vid it seems to me that Slayer just needs 2-3 punches to do heavy damage but Venom needs a LOT more precise hits and skillful play to do the same damage.
Venom has always been one of the harder characters. That said, a good Venom makes it VERY hard for a Slayer to play, due to Slayer's low mobility, and the speed he fills the screen with projectiles. Yes, Slayer can 2 shot Venom, but that's only if he can play. Same goes for Millia : she lacks the damage output, but if she knocks you down ONCE, the match is going to be very hard for you, no matter your damage. Or Axl : yes, you have damage and he has none, but can you reach the fucker ? :D Every character have their own strength, Venom sure does not have the damage of Slayer or Johnny, but he has other strengths.
Because they are based around the damage. Venom, with his pressure, mix ups and combos would be broken with Slayer like damage. Slayer has trouble getting in, not so good oki and almost everything he does is unsafe, he would be outright unusable with Venom like damage.
Slayer does a lot of damage... about once a month. With ridiculous hurtboxes, priorities, and amount of chances he gets, his dps is almost none despite high alpha. He's not even as good at alpha as a real damage dealers like Potemkin or I-No, which occasionally pull full HP one combo kills. With no tools at neutral it all, Xrd Slayer is completely docile shit-tier nobody is afraid of. His damage is simply not a concern because it takes perfect skill and perfect luck to land a starter, with just skill Slayer would still drown you as a player. I assume all the glass cannons are hard to balance like that, either their tools are good and they pwn, or their tools are weak and they utterly suck - current Slayer being the example of the latter. Venom might not have good alpha, but with his incredible tools he's just one step behind game's biggest dps output, as he can reset his pressing infinitely and get new starters in like a machine gun, while, much unlike Slayer, being totally safe from countermeasures of characters without (and sometimes with) effective reversal options. tl;dr Venom is a threat due to high dps, Slayer is not a threat to anything in Xrd because, despite high alpha, his dps is the game's lowest atm.
Venom owns slayer. Characters have different strengths and weaknesses. Slayer is actually one of the lower strength players. Damage is far from the only trait that makes up how good a character is
Ok. I get it that each character is unique and has strengths and weaknesses (and different playstyle) but when watching vids like these where one character is landing a lot of hits and doing almost nonexistent damage and the other one does only a bit of that while almost killing their opponent i cant help but think that the effort the player with the lower damaging character puts in it may be not rewarded enough. It just pains me to see a player skillfully control the game majority of the time and then the game ends in 5 second because of one mistake even though thats what these games are about.
