Not because it was a funny joke or anything, but because it was a stupid joke, but sort of how he said it and the way he tried to pull it off just made it one of those things that’s so stupid that it makes it funny.

    The moment Dixie Carter hired Hulk Hogan and brought him and Eric Bischoff as well as Russo is the moment you knew it was gonna be the beginning of the end for the company, even though the company is still alive, albeit as Impact Wrestling. And the moment they got rid of the 6-sided ring which made TNA special is the moment you knew everything was off to a bad start. I mean, when a crowd chants for a ring that made a company unique and much different from other promotions, that's general indication that things are getting off on the wrong foot.

    Meal 1 - 8 scrambled eggs, 4 slices toast, fruit and milk
    Meal 2 - protein shake, banana and 8 hard boiled eggs

      And lots of steroids.
      He asked Billy Graham back in the 70s before he broke in to the business how to take steroids. Superstar laughed and said “all day long, brother!”
      Apparently Hogan was sticking the needle in the same place every time and ended up with a mass of scar tissue the size of a golf ball and Graham had to tell him to move it around.
      “Stick it in your hip, then thigh, arm, and switch swords often.”

    Hogan was the guy that turned pro wrestling mainstream and popular in the mid 80's. His physique was impressive as he was billed at 6'8 300 lbs. He was the man who led pro wrestling to another level. HOWEVER... His mike skills were ok but lacked when compared to guys like Ric Flair, Stone Cold Steve Austin and the Rock. His wrestling talent was limited, he never used the ropes esp. compared to guys like Randy Savage, Ricky Steamboat or Jimmy Superfly Snuka. His in ring technical talent was nothing like Curt Hennig, Brett Hart or Shawn Michaels. Wrestling owes him a lot but he was not as great as he was hyped up to be. More like the first Ultimate Warrior who was huge and super over but had the same shortcomings as Hogan.

      hogan actually could wrestle. if you watch some japanese matches or those with bob backlund in his early days, he did have some skills. i'm not saying he's as skilled as dudes like backlund, but he did know some moves & holds. warrior was one who couldn't wrestle, though.

  • @stevegallo8483
    @stevegallo8483 2 года назад +3

    What Hogan had going for him was the Vince McMahon hype machine taking wrestling nationwide and making it mainstream. I'll give him credit for having good promotional skills (once he figured out how to do them) and the look Vince wanted in a main eventer, but his in ring work was was lacking with his limited move set. The true greatest of all time is Nature Boy Ric Flair who was among the best in the ring and was the best with his promos whether he was a heel or a face.

    • @shiningphantasy1393
      @shiningphantasy1393 2 года назад +2

      That's a two-way street though; Vince needed a transcendent presence like Hogan to carry the main-event spot for those crucial years in the mid to late eighties and leverage WWF as a premier brand against the competition. If Vince didn't convince Hogan to leave AWA then his mainstream and national goals are much less likely to succeed. Contrary to popular belief Hogan does have some diversified wrestling ability as demonstrated when he wrestles in Japan; he is not a master technician but is capable of more than what he is known for. As far as I'm concerned he tapered off in the early nineties with a larger than life highlight occasionally but no longer the constant impact on wrestling, which is not likely to ever be equaled in greater western culture. Ric Flair is a better technical wrestler and straight talker (I would say that they are equals in the area of self-promotion and obviously Hogan had the visual look going for him) but even with all of his good and fresh material he could not carry the NWA to the same level of success. When he went to the WWF, it didn't skyrocket them into a new stratosphere and make it curtains for NWA/WCW due to his absence, so his impact isn't quite on the same level in spite of his talents.
