- A sunny, if breezy, evening for the return of the Whit Friday March Contests and Hepworth Band played number 2 at Greenfield.
The march on the road was 'On the Quarterdeck' by Alford and on the stand, or the new stage, they played Rimmer's classic 'Ravenswood'.
Listened to this again tonight, on the march the basses won followed by Horns , just fabulous subtle swagger to it
What a fantastic sound on the road March, brilliant
It certainly is Del!
Excellent on the road march, de capo included! This band , as HM used to say 'blows down both sides of the instrument '! Tempo on the stand rather fast for my liking but great energy. Bravo!
Peter, I sooo enjoyed walking up the street recording that, tempo absolutelt tick tock and so solid, and a lot of bands would have 'finished at the bottom' so the DC was a bonus!!! I think you're right about the stand tempo but then it was their first march, usually used to 'blow the cobwebs', so I thought it a good standard and thought they might do better overall on the night than they did. Appreciate the comment, cheers.
Hepworth playing Ravenswood at about 5.20 minutes in . Very good band indeed but why at Usain Bolt speed ? 12th place rewarded on the night but maybe slowed it down a bit they could have been much higher ( only in my honest opinion ) .
It was indeed Ravenswood , sorry my mistake .
Lovelly
