The 1934 McQuay-Norris Streamliner is a pretty unique car, but that's not only because of its rather peculiar design. With only six units built from 1933 to 1934, you'd be hard-pressed to find something like it on the road - much more so with the fact that only one is currently in existence, in the Lane Motor Museum, and now this one..... so cool
That was also my absolute favourite. It will be a long way to restore it. A LOT will have to be handmade. But I bet the endresult will be worth all the trouble.
@@beatglauser9444It might not be as big a project as it seems. The body is all there from the looks. It might be aluminum so no big rust issues, and the frame and engine are basically stock 30's Ford. The biggest issue would likely be the wooden parts which framed the body, which as you said would have to be handmade. I would've liked to have seen the inside as I understand the main purpose of the car was to promote the companies engine parts products and had myriad gages to demonstrate the quality of their engine parts. Hopefully all the gages are still there.
Oh, those glorious old cars! That warehouse was better than any museum because the cars were all survivors, with all the slings and arrows the decades have inflicted, protected but not altered in any way. Not even washed! I wish I could have seen them ...
I met Mark Smith 7 years ago. I could not believe the cars that he owned. He had some very rare prewar cars that I had only seen pictures of in old books. Some were 1 of 12, or 1 of 4, etc. I liked his old car dealership in town. The basement was full of early V8 Fords and NOS flathead speed equipment. He died too young. RIP.
I still find it crazy wild that one person can accumulate so much stuff. But, THE BEST PART is that the parts at least will finally get put to use as they were intended.
Thank you so much for posting this video! I knew Mark Smith and was there for the first two auctions. I bought the 1931 Studebaker Commander 8 sedan….see 4:50. Very happy with my purchase!!
Thank you for the excellent edit, pulling together the various cars and prices made this very enjoyable to watch. Very interesting stuff to see. It is amazing all of the stuff that is still hidden away after all these years.
Watching from GB and I've come to the conclusion that nothing is rare in the US . Someone , somewhere has been collecting cool stuff for decades (god bless 'em ) and what a collection that first one was . Keep up the good work .
Yes in California there are many many warehouse full of collections of old stuff that is not open to the public you have to know someone to get in to see people's collections. Then you have the younger guy's that are collecting stuff. Back in the early 1990s this guy in my town had over 200 car's in his back yard. He has been collecting car's and truck's since the late 1960s. The city came out with a city code and said he couldn't have all those vehicles in his back yard. He and up moving to Nevada and took his collation of car's with him. He had prime car's and truck's in his collection everything and anything he was buying for low prices. He would tow people's old car's and truck's that they didn't want in there drive way or garage. This was when people thought they were just old junks in there yard that didn't run. Not knowing 40 year's later they would be collectables or rare.
@@snoopu2601 Thanks for the reply , I think it's great that some people do have the foresight to save stuff but at the same time it seems a shame that a lot of it will never turn a wheel again . Still, better to be looking at it than for it .

Wow, that’s some wild stuff. I’m in enough hot water with my wife this week, buying stuff from a local auction, I couldn’t imagine what would happen if I was there. That cab over motorhome was pretty cool!
I too liked the old Ford Hippiemobile. Sure, $10K to go through it, and another $5K on the interior, preserving the "Folk Art" aspect. And you'll still be in cheaper than some $50k 2020 modern thing that will go to the salvage in 10 more years. And restored, that would be a fun camper/show truck that would hold its value for generations.
I somehow missed this video until now. I usually watch your videos right away. Every so often I give your channel a good look over to make sure I haven't missed any. Just wanted to say that I love videos like this that show us all the cool stuff for sale. I'd also like to say that I miss "Mail Call". Those are some of my favorites.
1937 Airstream Clipper; the rarest of all of them for $155,000. Amazing. And I love the idea that all this stuff is going to be used and restored to eventually go down the road and see the light of day. I read that Gooding sold 100% of the entire Mark Smith collection at no reserve for $8,857,040.
The scope of that collection was wild! The picture at the end of the video (was on IG too) throught the arched window should be sold in your Merch store.
The 1955 GMC Bus is identical to one my grandfather drove for the city of Danville, VA. Where was this auction? Thanks for showing. I’ve always wondered what the bus looked like in color. Now I know.
I know that very early Coke actually had cocaine in it (hence the name). Imagine trying to take one of those bottles somewhere and setting off the drug dog at the airport.
It's amazing all the real antique and unique cars you can buy for just a small fraction of the price of let's say a chevelle, nova, cuda, charger, etc,
Liked the auction, my favorite item was the military jeep. You pass over it after showing it briefly. Maybe we could see more later at another auction. Good show !!!
I talked with a guy that toured all of his warehouses a few years ago. He supposedly had 1 of every Ford Model A built. There's another auction coming up in February.
Very cool stuff there! My favorite was the hippie COE motorhome. I'd definitely leave the murals intact if i'd bought it. Wow! The $$$$ paid for some of those cars!
Wow! The "pie wagon" at 10:35. There's one that hits the local cruise-ins in the Nashville, TN area (yes it runs under its own power). Nashville is home to the Lane Motor Museum mentioned in another post.
I personally liked the coke cola Truck. The prices were really high. That Model T bucket was not too bad. Matt your so gifted at fabrication. You don’t need a lot. The parts are alway a great addition to the Channel Matt. Thank you for sharing!

Out of all these great vehicles, I like the '31 Ford Roadsters most. Looked like they even had rumble seats. I cant believe he got them for 8 grand each!
