  • Hey Everyone, This week we are doing something a little different, we are building a Design Wall. No Quilting or Sewing this weekend project but it is related to building out our workspace for all the designs we work on. A design wall is a great addition to any quilt studio! This is how we built Ours, its so easy anyone can do it.

I used white flannel for mine, the quilt blocks stick nicely to it, no pins required. Not sure how it would work for heavy/large blocks, but works great so far.

Flannel is great, for heavier blocks try batting, it's fuzzier. You don't have to cover your whole board with batting, just tack a piece on it large enough for your project.

I use flannel on a shower curtain it works great though once I have a few rows together I pin a bit at the top :)

Great idea. Taping up the styrofoam with duct tape might help assembly.

Great wall!!! What fabric did you use? How did you attach completed design wall to the wall in your studio?
    thank you, Jasmine

The fabric is a white broadcloth and it is currently resting on top of a dresser but if it was we would use wall anchors and attach using strong screws into the anchors.

I have a very small space to quilt, how can I store my badding on rolls to be easy each time to use it. I do live alone so partner here to help. any suggestion please. and any suggestion for a system to make it easy taking the right amount of the role? thank you.

Hey Becky, I would take a lesson out of Angie's book for this and move vertically. Have a bracket made that you can pull off of the roll from the ceiling
